I think everyone's got that error at the moment.

Basically the page is reaching into what it thinks is the database to grab some info and discovering that it's not there anymore (much like if you're at the movies and you reach for your drink without looking, groping the air for a few moments before finally realising that some clown's taken it wink)

It can happen for various reasons, one of which is resource-related (ie. not enough), but others can include the server timing out, or perhaps even simply the data no longer being accessible; ie. if something has been relocated to a new server (or place on the server) and the permission settings are a bit off, the page trying to source the info effectively hits a locked door on the database.

Ben mentioned something about updates going in last month and they were eventually the cause of the downtime last week, so I'm guessing they are also responsible for the error (meaning that it's something that needs to be fixed on Ben's side, not yours).

I do love the terminology though; "MySQL server has gone away" - maybe it finally got sick of some of the threads here and took off! razz
