if you mean from youtube...you need to press backspace after you copy and paste the url.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Actually you may have to experiment a bit...part of it depends on the browser you're using.

Sometimes all you have to do is copy the url of the video, and surround it with youtube brackets..

like this [youtube] url [/youtube], but without the spaces before and after the url.

Other times it only works the way murido explained...again, post the url of the video...if it shows

up with underlining, just backspace once and the underlining disappears. Then surround the whole

url with the youtube brackets, just like above.

If either of those options don't work, then I don't know what to tell you!

I think the essence of it is that you want the url to be in text, not as a link.

In most browsers, when you paste a url into a text box, it automatically makes it a link (underlined, clickable), which is what breaks the bbcode here.

In some browsers, immediately pressing backspace makes the link turn back into regular text, but if that doesn't work, your other option is to select the link you've just pasted in and press the 5th button from the left on the bottom row of the toolbar above (ie. "unlink" - looks like a little chain breaking).

The other option, which sometimes is quicker if you have it open, is just to paste the link into a simple text program like Notepad first, then copy it from there into your post, thereby losing all memory of it being a link.

Whichever way you do it, the essence of it is that what you're trying to put between the [youtube] tags is a purely text url (with no spaces), not a clickable link.

Hope some of this makes sense rose

The problem with the text in your post is that it's more than just text - it's a clickable link (it's coloured and underlined and when you click it, you go to the video). You just need to make it plain text somehow.

If the backspace thing is confusing, try one of the other methods. I've just grabbed a screen shot of the "unlink" button so you can see what I was talking about:

If that doesn't make sense, try pasting the link into Notepad, then selecting it in Notepad, choosing "copy" again, and then paste that version into your post.

However you do it, your text shouldn't be underlined and you shouldn't go anywhere when you click on it (ie. not a link). When you preview your post, you should then see the video.

Does that help?

Locate the backspace key on your keyboard, hit it once after you post the url.

FWIW, that doesn't work for all browsers. I use Google Chrome and if I do that, I lose the last letter of the (still linked) url.

That's why I said "you may have to experiment a bit...part of it depends on the browser you're using".

Actually I use Google Chrome now and then too, but I must not have posted any youtubes with it.

I tried just now, and I see what you mean. So in that case you really do have to clink on the

"unlink" on top in order for it to work.

I use IE mostly to post youtubes and with that the backspacing works just fine.

I guess everyone really does have to find their own way of doing it depending on the browser.
