Someone help me out here...when did all the legal harrassment of HQ start?

The first trouble I recall was in the fall of 2004, soon after the Musicology tour ended. HQ was closed for a week or so. I think the bootleg trading forum was the issue. HQ came back without that forum (just a bootleg discussion forum). But after that it was one thing after the other. Fan photos, the videos, etc.

By the way, Aaron is clearly more patient (or simply a bigger fan) than me: I would have shut it down the first time I was threatened with legal action over something stupid! JMHO.

Either way - no matter how you look at it, Prince websites will be seen as his enemy since there are always people here looking to make money from the sale of his bootlegs. Not to mention all the negative comments people make. Also privacy issues regarding where prince is at any moment.

I am actually guilty myself a little of posting where he parked his car, and what kind of car it was when he stayed at the Rio in Vegas.

By the way - does anyone know how to get in touch with Aaron from the quake? I sent someone some money via paypal for some magazines featuring prince and got nothing in return. Just wanna see if anyone knows a guy whose screename was Macinate.

And I was never very much for banning people but now I regret that we haven't banned a lot more people. I never said I despised HQ. I liked it that is why I spent so much time there. Let's not rewrite history and deny that certain things happened and are still happening. Jseven? Serpan? How do you justify the treatment against them? I let the bull against me go, because I cannot make an adult apologize if they don't feel like it, and I can't have the rules of a web site enforced against the people that run it. I can only control my own behavior and I have always been very respectful even when I wasn't shown the same respect. When I hear about attacks against other members, it pisses me off. Freedom of speech is one sided and as long as people are only criticizing Prince and the people that are not liked by the moderators it is ok.

Why does my comment about the violins irk you so? I just feel that the closing of the site has an element of drama to it. I don't think Prince cares. It is only the members that were put out, not Prince. He is still counting his millions, and we will all buy his product, and we will all line up in droves to go hear him play.

Anyone else feeling stalked around here?

Jseven used two aliases to back up his own story. If you have been following posts here on the org you know that those aliases were revealed too by members who have nothing to do with HQ. Jseven has great information but shouldn't use different aliases and should be honest. And should mods take everything from members and not talk back? I don't think so.

It annoys me that people who spent lots of time on HQ are now summing up only negative stuff. HQ was a big community so not everthing was exactly how it should be and we couldn't moderate everything. The same here at the org. But it sucks that then just the mods get all the blame. I'm not perfect either but I still think that HQ was a great forum. Let's hope the org will not close but if it does I will never sum up the negatives but remember it for the great things. And thank Ben and the mods for the maintenance of the forum.

I don't want to rehash our particular issue either.Moderators shouldn't take eveything from members but there is a threatening tone to some of these posts that if somehow we were not totally thrilled about everything we should be banned. That means we have to take everything from the moderators or be banned.
Serpan is particularly being harassed at every turn. He is not more sarcastic than other members.I can name some of them here, but I won't. Go ask your friend Gav what he pm'd to Serpan. I will be a lady and not repeat that language here.

We are all human and we will lose our tempers, and we will have our opinions. My little remark about violins should not have been met with "Why do you post there, if you don't like it" by someone who is an obvious insider, using an alias as you accuse j7 of doing.

News flash---- most of us don't care if J7 is Drfunkenberry. He has always been a member in great standing in the Prince community, and he provides us with loads of news even when he is being attacked. I think all of us, Serpan, me, J7, Cam, would like to see HQ back because it does provide a good service, but we all, moderators and members alike have to own up to our behavior and see what we can do to improve relations between ourselves and Prince..... the reason we are all really here in the first place.

What Funkteer said, I felt too, and I know others did as well. We all loved HQ - that's why we came there. But it was very difficult to speak up against the comments and ridicule flung partly towards dr FB and partly towards members who have questioned this and similar behaviour. people who have spoken up (sometimes perhaps a little loudly) have been banned and others have been bated, pushed and ridiculed their way into a slow but sure accumulation of points, for no apparent reason other than the fact that they at some point have questioned the behaviour of a mod.I guess the reason some people are bringing this up now, is because they can. They couldn't while HQ was alive without running the risk of suffering the same destiny, not here, not on their blog, and certainly not on HQ in an adult and civilised conversation without getting banned. Now this may not actually have been the case that everyone who opened their mouthes would be banned, but the atmosphere was there and to many that's what it felt like. Would you want to get banned from a place you love, despite the fact it has problems?

I know this may not be easy to read for you or any other ex mod from HQ. Believe me, I'm not saying any of this to stir all that old crap up or to point any fingers. I'm just trying to explain why some people may not be talking so highly about HQ as you would perhaps like them to, and trying to explain why they may be speaking now and here, rather than over there a month ago. That's all.

I want to move on as much as you and I hope everybody else. But the fact is that many of these old grudges have already spilled over into this forum too, which I personally think is very unfortunate, not just for the parties involved but for the rest of us too. There should be room for all of us, mods, ex mods, members and ex members without anyone feeling under attack, being ridiculed or feeling as if it would be better not to be on a Prince forum at all.
I really do think we ought to bury this along with a big round of apologies and group hugs. How else will we ever move on - let alone GET on, if for example HQ or something similar should ever rise out of the ashes? How are we going to get on here? How are we gonna look each other in the eyes at pre concert drinks, or hold places for each other in the aftershow queue next time Prince is in town?
