The only other artist I know of who charges for access to a website is Bowie. I'm a huge Bowie fan too, but I'm not paying his ridiculous annual membership so I can look at what amounts to pretty much nothing. So, yes, I do think for $25 it's reasonable to expect that 'lifetime' means lifetime. Or maybe I've just been spoilt by Trent a little too much? and for the lifetime of NPGMC, we had a membership. there's not an NPGMC anymore, so we got what we paid for. yeah?

YES [Edited 1/30/09 1:04am] [Edited 1/30/09 1:05am] [Edited 1/30/09 1:05am] No it won't - simple as that. As for HQ having been the best fansite, no. It was immensely stupid of Aaron to let all those videos up there, it was what killed it, ultimately. Aaron thought he was bulletproof or something and he wasn't. Surprise! xcuse me while i laugh at the comment of best site oh yeah the best site of hyprocrites and power hungry mods that acted like they were end and b all of everything man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Or shut up, as it appears. But there's also the 'SUE HIM' option. Prince should learn what the real world thinks about this 'rules'. I'd gladly donate a few euros if he goes that way. (yes I know I am not A's friend, nor Gav's, but I do know mr P is not always right) If you want justice ....i'd give you a list of charities where your donation would be better used ...if you want to talk sh*t about Prince and waste your time well the org and hq are just the same...chill out man.. I've not been a member of Housequake for a while now, but this is still sad news. I know some people here don't like the way they operate(d), but some people preferred their way of doing things. Different strokes.
I do feel sad for Aaron feeling he has to close for the time being, but I don't think it's a bad thing at all. Far from it. It will give everyone there time to regroup and and maybe come back even stronger. Changes need to be made at Housequake and I think the bootleg section is one of them. Yes it's nice to talk about, but there are 100 places you can talk about Prince bootlegs that are off the radar. It just serves to wind people up - and while I was there, there wasn't actually that much decent conversation in that area anyway. Those of you that have taken the time to have a little dig at Housequake shouldn't really. Why does something you never visit bother you so much? Sad sad times if this is what it comes to the day before Prince releases an album. And by the way, the closing of the site the day before lotusflow3r launches has nothing to do with anything. It just so happens Prince decided to send a stoopid email on this day. What a knob. [Edited 1/30/09 8:04am]

Everytime they changed that header with anyhing relating to Prince they get a warning, I say they should have known better because he's ALWAYS watching over there. They have tried everything to get along, even kissing the butt. so I think they did the right thing. Prince is NEVER gonna change his position on this, NEVER. [Edited 1/30/09 8:10am]

At least, not if you bought music from the NPGMC that you can't play any more. And don't fall back on the old "You should have burned a copy!" rhetoric. Nowhere did PRINCE advise us to do that, and nowhere did Prince ever intimate the music we bought from him would only be temporarily available to us. Prince screwed up there, and that makes the investment in his site an unfair value.
