Damn, there's more conspiracy theories here than ever !

Firstly, the simple reason that nothing's been said is that as many of you know, I look after the Prince liaison and legal statements for Housequake and I've been snowed under with my day job - in fact I only found out HQ was closed by email from one of the other mods this morning.

As some have noticed, relations with official sources have been very good of late, however mostly because we've been "playing the game" and trying our best to not offend P. An example of this is how we've had a header that doesn't even mention Prince's name nor shows his photo.

A couple of weeks ago, one member put together some excellent lotusflower "inspired" banners that used a symbol that looked a bit like Prince's but with a flower modification. As they didn't infringe copyright, we took the decision to put these live, along with the official banners we were supplied directly by P.

Roughly 24 hours later, we got a very blunt email saying "this must be removed" from one of his team. We tried to discuss this explaining that it's very difficult to have a fan website that doesn't have a picture of Prince or even show his symbol, however P was adamant that we don't "imply official status".

As someone else noticed on this thread, this was quite frankly the straw that broke the camels back and Aaron came to the belief that this really isn't a fun thing to do any more. Please remember that this is just a hobby for Aaron. It costs him money to run (we can't take donations any more as it changes our legal status and this was used by Prince's legal representation to claim we were a commercial organisation - nice huh ?) and take up a great deal of his time. Would you spend time and money on something you didn't enjoy ?

Is HQ over ? I personally don't know but I've spent a great deal of time playing "united nations" to repair relationships between Prince and all the PFU members (I brokered the "ceasefire" between the PFU and Prince) so I'm not about to give up yet.

It Ain't Over !

ps - thanks for the notes of support for HQ. This isn't about Prince.org vs Housequake, this is purely about fans rights to support an artist in a reasonable manner.

Thank you for the clarification. From my point of view it's time to tighten up and do right and act right. On all fronts.
Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Thanks, Gav, 4 explaining, although quite a few here missed what U were saying entirely.

Prince gave them official banners. A member created their own, and Housequake used it. Prince didn't like it, because it wasn't official, and asked them 2 remove it.

Aaron took a step back, and likely just decided that it wasn't worth it any longer 4 him.

That's his choice, his right, and his prerogative.

I wish Aaron wellness, and hope 2 see Housequake back someday.

Meanwhile, Prince is losing his fanbase rapidly.

hahaha, you are a funny one.
Because it is an emoticon. Apparently I am not attempting to look like an official site with this as part of my tag. And apparently there is a huge difference, or are you so narrow-minded that you do not realize the difference?
I did not create the emoticons and they are for ANYones use that is on this site...apparently approved.
Are you serious????
I cannot even believe I would have to explain this shit to someone. This is totally different.
Attention everyone. The approved emoticon in my tag is my way of saying I am an official prince site.
Just an FYI.
Oh, and also...notice I have quotations around "Power Fantastic" and Prince's symbol. Hmmmm...probably meaning it is HIS song.

Thanks Gav for clearing that up. Please don't turn this into a HQ v Org thing anyone. I am from HQ but have always been a member here. In fact i was here first. But i chose not to post here and posted over at HQ. Why? Simply because I don't have time to read through posts on two sites and cannot be bothered to keep switching and reading similar topics. I cannot even remember why i chose HQ over org. But it would've been insignificant.

Anyhoo... i digress... let's keep it positive and show the ungrateful purple one we mean to carry on.

Absolutely - in fact the recent Gansevoort hotel ticket giveaways wouldn't have happened if HQ and the org hadn't come together and worked very closely. I think the HQ vs org days are long behind us and ironically relations have been great lately.

Agreed. "HQ vs. org" is SOOO three-years-ago. rolleyes

Posted a comment on here earlier that Prince doesn`t deserve fans or indeed spending money on him.
His attacks on Controversy, Uptown and all the other fanzines and fansites over the years has been totally out of order.
I can understand if somebody is selling pirates and bootlegs then that should be stopped. I`m not a great fan of bootlegs and always prefer the official stuff to be honest.
To discuss and post pictures of your favourite "idol" with the chance of being sued just shows that this so called "genius" can be so petty and such a control freak.
When you stop and think about it, I can understand why this man has not had a UK top 10 hit single since 1994 (save for a reissue of "1999", in 1999).
Prince since 1993 has spent most of the time in between recording and touring attacking the record industry, the media and his fans.
Reading comments on here today have had people including me saying:
1. we`re not buying the new albums
2. we`ll download them instead on p2p sites
3. some of us saying that if we did above , then we deserve our pcs to crash.
4. Housequake v`s Prince.Org

Make your own mind up but I think the release of the forthcoming albums are coming out under a very dark cloud with Prince`s once phenomenal fanbase again further erroded all because of a fan-made picture on a fan made website.

Actually, Gold got to #10 in the UK in December '95. wink

Aaron is a drama queen who craves Prince's attention. That's why I stopped posting to that site years ago. This is typical behavior for him. The site will be back eventually.

Maybe now (no chance really) people will wake up to what a wanker Prince is. He cares not a jot for his fans nor those who build communities in support of him.

He is a phoney who uses religion to further his career, suit his needs, manipulate his followers. If he was the guy who lived in the house next door you would hate him, find him strange and keep your kids away from him.

But he did write some top songs in the 80s.

I dont believe Prince even wants a forum, not here, over at HQ & especially not on his site.

We may be able to listen to music, watch videos, buy clothes and concert tickets on Prince's new site. But there is no mention of a blog or forum confuse
On 3121 if I recall there was an interactive poll and a weekly 'newsfeed' but nowhere to comment. Nothing changed whether you logged into it or not and only people who were members of npgmc got anything out of it cost wise (reduced ticket prices) shrug I'm not anticipating anything different for Lotusflow3r..

After all the speculation tomorrows site launch may leave some of u alittle flat. Not all his fans critise on these online forums, and the loss of HQ doesnt bode well for any Prince forum as if a respectful and well run forum like HQ needs to constantly jump through hoops and are bullied at every turn then what hope for the other respectful well run forums?

We have to care enough about each other to look out for each other whatever forum you prefer.

You know,

The most sad thing about these on going battles is that all the fun and joy that brought these legions of fans and artists together has been lost because of episodes like this. All this could be avoided if "The Powers That Be" would openly say "Please don't do etc, etc etc." These events can be handled in a much more respectable and decent manner. (That goes for the battles behind the scenes with the proteges/bands as well.) No one is asking for their "Privacy" to be exposed, but mutual respect has been lost between the one wearing the crown and his subjects. No one digs being talked down to, nor pushed around.

It's almost become like a marriage at its end. If you don't love me no mo, just let me go.....

All the sites could close down today and I'd still buy the music and go to the concerts. I love the sites, especially, The Org. They occupy a special place in my heart, it's the 1st site I visited when I became a fan and was looking for a online experience with other fans. The interactions of each one of us [who post/talk/speak positively] I love that but calling Prince out of his name or bashing him when none of us know him personally except save a few, we should keep our personal opinions to ourselves on that front.

I pray/hope HQ.com will return but if it doesn't, it was a nice trip/journey.

Props & Pound to The Org and HQ.com

There are always two sides to every story, but the thing that I can't shake is Prince's own website history.

I paid good money to join one of them, bought songs from it, and now the website is gone and the songs I purchased cannot be played.

Then, Prince started another website. It was OK, and in fact was really cooking when he would put up the songs from his 21 nights run. But he shut that down, too.

Now, he's coming again with another "new" website. But what will it cost? What will it provide?

Prince's history is not good in this respect. I will take a "wait and see" attitude.

And I can PROMISE you that I will NOT buy ANYTHING from Prince's website that I can't IMMEDIATELY make hard copies of. Not because I want to share it, but because of what he did on npgmc.com.

I'm not EVER paying for anything that is not PERMANENT.

In my opninion it is a closure, due to an action by Prince. So isn't that the MORE part in Music & More? (And of course i am afraid for any actions against the org.)

im not referring to HQ, im referring to the 'fans' who bite off the latest fonts design etc. and premiering them as the latest thing before the actual thing has even came out.

i dont care about the photoshopping of pictures of prince.

but i do care about the experience I get from the release of a new site and material from an artist.

And a fams ideas are not part of the artists ideas, which can easily alter ones perception of the unreleased/experience/expectations.
Especially when they bite off of the style.

Save it for a later date...quit being selfish and trying to bite off of someone else's style/artistic expression.

Quit being selfish and ruining it for everyone else.

Keep it to yourself.

on a different note:
Its not HQ's owner's fault he shut it down
or Prince's
it the fams who cant control themselves.
close shop so there is not out let for it. simple.

You do realise that the hardcore Prince fans (you and I) are the minority - don't you? You do know that combined we wouldn't fill an arena?

There is not much upside for Prince in having unofficial sites dedicated to him.

Most of those people you see kissing his ass on TV specials , Award ceromonies, the celebrity world etc. have zero interest in Housequake or Prince.org. Prince knows this and that’s why he will continue to send cease and disorder notices on what many perceive to be little things.

We are the hardcore and that is it. This story will not make the papers.
