Firstly I have to say that I'm so thoroughly disgusted with Prince's camp and their actions - talk about biting the hand that feeds you! I'd like to read a copy of the letters that they sent before I really start to go into a spin about it all. I'd also like to hear what the man himself thinks and hear him explain his actions. I'm having a really hard time believing that he is actually doing this and part of me wants to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that it's his lawyers being completely over-zealous... but in my heart I know that's not true 
Do you know I have only just finished explaining the whole name change/slave thing to people, now I'm going to have to explain this.. and I don't think I have the energy left. He's making a right tit of himself. I mean... WHY? Why is he doing this?! The impression that I am getting is that he wants the fame but not the fans.. if that's the case why doesn't he just retire and play for himself... not that I want that to happen, I love Prince's music (not really feelin' for the man himself at the moment) and long may he continue to release music, but he shouldn't stroke us with one hand and then punch us with the other - it's really not fuckin' on. It's funny 'cause the other day I was thinking to myself that I was done with Prince. I've seen him 4 times in concert. I've met him. And he hasn't put out music in the last 5 or 6 years that I have really enjoyed anyway. His music used to mean something to me when I was younger,but now it sounds like all other generic r&b out there. Have multiple ones in many cities, but make them all on the same date. But there'd have to be some central theme/advertising done to get more bang for the buck. Try to get some local news coverage. I think a couple hundred Prince fans staging a "Prince-out" and smashing their cd's and burning some effigies would sure get the local media's attention. Prince needs to understand that enough is enough. We as fans don't need to be told how to think about him. He's not our f-ing father!!! I'm going to leave it at that, because there's a lot of other insults/profanity that's bubbling to the surface, but we're trying to keep it civil. That's all i've got for now. I'm not about to go burning my albums or T shirts here. That's a bit extreme for me. His being an ass about this doesn't make me any less a fan of the music I've loved for years.
But I looooove that Ben and all are standing up to what amounts to schoolyard bullying. "I have money and lawyers so do what I say!" 
I may be a bit leery of where my money goes in the future (I stopped going to Paisley parties for a long time cause I was sick of the BS that went on there), but I'm not gonna say I'll never pay to see him in concert again either. I guess I'll have to see how this all plays out. |

But I have enough good times in my memory banks to call it a day as far as Prince is concerned. I hear ya! Actually, I think it was after 3121 when I realized that I could really care less about anything new from Prince. The Roosevelt Hotel live shows were when I realized I'd seen enough of him and that I did not wish to pay over 3k to see him or anybody (well maybe Joni Mitchell, if she ever plays live again, and that's a maybe) live. I basically come here to communicate with you Richard. And to find out about Madonna's minute by minute career moves from MikeMatronik and SoulAlive. And of course all the possible live shows, new bands to check out. And I find the P&R forum both educational and amusing. And let's not forget about the General Discussion forum: absolute comedy. This place turned out to be about many things than just Prince.
