Should the Org Chat Be Monitored So When things get a lil too nasty or negative it can be ceased? After all this is Prince.Org not Nasty.com right? Sometimes people just aren't in the mood or came here to hear all those types of exchanges between folks.

I've been witness to several conversations that I found offensive and disgusting. And I can tell I'm not the only one as many others have left (and leave) as well during convo's like this. At times its no better then being on a AOL Chat as far as the sick content of the chats.

Also should there be assigned times or days to discuss certain subjects concerning Prince? I think that would eliminate the dulldrum, boring thing someone else mentioned by someone else.

I believe in a free exchange of ideas, but at times things go in a direction I feel isn't necessary for a Prince site that I thought would focus on the artist, his music , his career. I feel like this, save it for your orgnotes if you're trying to get with someone, and let's just keep the chat talk free of negativity and personal fantasies for whoever and focus on his music and the man and his artists and his latest haps.

I personally am not for moderation of the chat room. I love how random it can be. Indeed, it does often take leaps and bounds toward the sexual, but that is why it is permitted to "ignore" a user. I am a fairly frequent chatter and know most of the people who participate in the lewd chat you describe. I'm pretty sure that they would tone it down if you would bring it up there...not here.

as for people leaving because of it... i've never seen many people leave over that kind of thing, in the 5 1/2 years i've been chatting here. in fact, most will throw in something of their own. but by all means, please provide us with some names.



it would only until you showed up. i find that in the chatroom people chat what they want to chat about. you either go with the flow or you throw a topic out there. someone will bite or someone won't. assigning times of the day for certain discussions about Prince is the surest way to get the room empty. but, um, i guess that's kind of what you're pushing for through the tone of your whole message.

Its odd how you can't handle vulgarity/negativity/hooking-up/whatever in the chatroom, suggesting some people keep it in their orgNotes, etc., but the forums get NO mention. Oh, I hope I don't have to dig through all those threads to plead my case...

You expect someone to moderate the chatroom & to discuss pre-planned topics on specific days when this site can't even (& does not want to) control the output of senseless threads in the forums? Puh-lease.

IMHO, like Moonbeam said, I think you should speak up in the chat if you have a problem with the language or discussion...Not that that'll get you anywhere. Everyone that chats there (that has been chatting there for awhile, anyway) knows Prince is a rare topic...Most chatters here are one big happy family that, after 6 years, have other things to discuss besides Prince...

Anyway, its just a chatroom, like any other...You can't honestly expect a PRINCE chatroom to be less sick/nasty than anything on AOL, can you?

i think people should do what they want....besides thats why god invented the Ignore feature to put them perverts on ignore.....and go on about your chat..

I guess my fellow chatters (Aaron, Moonbeam and SweetBaby) pretty much said it all. Especially SB made a lot of sense (which is pretty rare).

If there's anything that should be moderated in some way it's the forum section. Not because people make stupid posts or start totally irrelevant threads, but because those things make the forums even harder to read.
