Heavenly

I like it as it is. you don't have to chase the messages. you can read slowly and choose when to refresh. good for people who don't speak english as a first language and takes time for them to read and understand.

I have to agree. Its very basic looking & could be in real time so it doesnt seem like ur ignoring ur fellow chatters

I agree, that's why I'm never there. Although Heavenly makes an excellent point for those whose first language isn't English. Even so, with a newer chat format as discribed above, such individuals can always scroll back and read at their own pace. Then we can all be happy.

Prince.org has had a java chat before, and most people prefer the HTML one.

Yes, there are other chats that update in real time, and if you want to chat on one of those, please feel free to go find one. The people that use this chat, have been using it now for oh...5+ years, and are very comfortable with it.

It requires no special add-ons, no java, no anything - except a web browser.

A simple chat.

Teacher

I only started chatting in the Org room some two months ago, and I think it's just fine. English is my second language, but that's beside the point for me since it's as good as my first language. Once in awhile it happens that you miss a post directed at you, but I've never known that to happen unless there are 20 or more people in the chat at that time. There are also a number of preferences you can set so that it gets more comprehensive, might it be that the complainers in this thread are not well-versed enough in this section? Look up the prefs, people, or ask in the chat...you will get the answer you're looking for.

Last but not least I think that the complaints raised here are in part made to camouflage the fact that new people feel left out because a lot of the chatters have known each other for a long time and get very tight with one another. That is very true, but you'll have to make a spot for you as a new chatter. It worked fine for me!

Ok folks Here it goes .Org chat 101 instructions :
  • step 1 Enter the chat
  • step 2 go to Prefrances/ colors at the top of the page and set a refresh time
  • step 3 If yu are offended by a chatter or the room is too cluttered for you there is the ignore box check the names and poofie you dont seee their post no more !

once you get use to it most people come to understand why we prefer this to the Java based chats most people are accustomed to.... Also Some of the Emotes used can be found in the help thingie at the top of the page and people will generally help you if you ask nice wink .
Unfortunatly some people woul rather be judgemental sniveling spoiled brat's demanding that things be done their way rather than do things as they have been proven to work best for those who have taken the time to adjust to the changes !
Some of us from the old chat room found adjusting to the curent chat a bit unnerving and uncomfie as well but the changes have stayed and we have adjusted to them smile or some of us have any way :p

We had a real-time chat once. It blew. Popular opinion demanded that Ben replace it with the old format.

So then we had both. And then NO ONE chatted in the real-time room.

I like it as it is.
