In your forum preferences (where u can customise ur signature & stuff), what does this bit do:

Topics/page: (0=default, max=100)
Posts/page: (0=default, max=100)

OK, well the topics/page limits the number of topic (thread) titles displayed when you look at the thread overview... or just enter '0' for the default, which is usually fine.
The posts/page doesn't do anything right now. It's supposed to do the same basic thing when you're reading a thread... so that a long thread is broken up into N pages of however many posts you entered in that box (or the default). However, pagination on the thread doesn't work yet.
