I actually don't have a problem with the price. That's about $125 a day for both the events and concerts. I think that's reasonable. It would be nice to offer day passes, tho.

What worries me is the clusterfuck that was the tribute. People dropping out last minute, it seemed like the left hand did not know what the right was doing, tickets on sale last minute, etc. I truly believe that Morris Hayes saved that tribute because NPG under his direction was damn near flawless. With all he had to deal with and the last minute changes- well, I hope boyfriend got the thanks he earned and deserved from the estate and family. I am just hoping and praying that this celebration does not go the way of the tribute. If the same people are organizing it, I fear that it may.

A couple positive signs IMO: The Revolution participating and both Shelby J and Liv Warfield tweeting out the official announcement right away. I remember with the tribute concert Shelby didn't even confirm she was performing until a couple weeks after the announcement. This definitely has a different vibe but then it's coming from the Estate/PP Management whereas Londell was responsible for the tribute concert.

What is it, you expect Mark Brown to do? Wouldn't PP be more likely to help you with this matter?

And BTW, it's Prince's Legacy built by Prince.

[Edited 11/28/16 12:06pm]

Prince had a lot of people play with him, and work for him. No one does something at that scale alone. And he worked his bands particularly hard. They dedicated their entire lives to him. Take out Matt Fink and Mark Brown from The Revolution, and you have a completely differrent band. No one plays like Mark. Mark was like Prince's Clyde Stubblefield. He brought tremendous energy and excitement to that music.

I realize that this is a political issue for a lot of people on the org. But it's not for me. I don't really want to argue about it.

I don't want Mark Brown to do anything. Just wanted to express how I felt, and encourage the band to do other shows. Maybe I will write to Paisley later. I doubt their lawyers give a fuck, though.

What do lawyers have to do with Paisley Park? This is being managed by the Elvis people and they did put up money to get the facility up and running. Do some of you think this was done with Monoply money? In order for the building to stay open they need cash and events are a great way to bring in cash. I am sure they will sell day passes so just relax and wait and see this event is 5 months away. Prince gave you two days notice if we were lucky so this is a step up some what.

Let's hope Andy Allo and Sheila E. join the lineup.

It's disappointing that they are not on the lineup already.

It would also have been cool for the original members of The Time to reunite for this.

The cost seems reasonable, considering all the musicians that have to fly there and stay in hotels. I noticed Morris Day and the Time will also be on the 80's Cruise, which looks way more fun than this.

You have to realize the concert hall only holds about 1,800 people. If tix were under $100 they would sell out instantly. They have to start with a high price and can always offer cheaper tix near the event date.

Not to start rumors, but I did wonder if the recent PRN Alumni event was to get as many people on board with upcoming events as possible, as far ahead of time as possible. I have ABSOLUTELY NO INSIDE INFORMATION to this effect at all - but the timing and the existence of the event did make me think.

I think it's good for the people who want to go. It's just not for me. I want to see Paisley Park but will go at a time that's not around the anniversary of his death.

the deal breaker for me isn't the price but the concept of 'two tracks'. you're telling me 'the revolution' is going to play Friday at 2 pm and then be back at 8 pm? and alternating the days and nights is asinine. i gotta be back at 11 am saturday after staying up late friday? did old people organize this? (if i was going to do VIP i would just do general admission for both 'tracks') I'll skip it. I trusted Prince and will always have 2002. but not this......

Track One
  • Thursday: 11:00am - 4:00pm;
  • Friday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm;
  • Saturday: 11:00am - 4:00pm; and
  • Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm.
Track Two
  • Thursday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm;
  • Friday: 11:00am - 4:00pm;
  • Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm; and
  • Sunday: 11:00am - 4:00pm.

All programming is the same for Track One and Track Two.

The Estate formed Paisley Park Facility, an LLC to operate the museum. Paisley Park Facility entered into an agreement with PP Management, also an LLC which is a subsidiary of Graceland Holdings, LLC to operate all aspects of the museum. Graceland put up the initial funds for capital improvements and initial operating costs.

http://67.63.229.140/webl...20Plan.pdf

But nowhere on the PP website or in official press releases is Graceland or Elvis Presley Enterprises ever mentioned. The people that run Graceland are running PP because they have experience doing this kind of thing.

Remember when Prince and 3EG played at the Myth? One ticket to that was $259 !! So he did do some pretty pricey gigs from time to time. However this does seem pretty steep. Even so I bought myself one ticket cause I live half an hour away from Paisley, don't have to pay for travel and lodging etc. I was going to do a VIP tour soon but may hold off on that now and see what I get to see during this event!

[Edited 11/28/16 12:21pm]

And even he couldn't sell out the joint at those prices and they ended up offering up different tiers of tickets later...

I have little sympathy for people who purchased plane tickets without tour tickets being available for purchase on the PP website. And you're right about Prince often giving little notice. lol Anyway I do think they will sell day passes for this event once these 4-day passes are sold out.

Really don't see the big deal given how many performers are going to be there and the other things that go with the cost. Why do people think that those who've performed with Prince in the past think those people should do this for free or short money? I don't think it's too much to ask for since most people who go on vacation every year probably spend a couple thousand anyway. So why the angst? It's the same on FB, people saying "oh, I paid $250 for a week of performances by Prince back in 2002". Seriously? These things aren't comparable and no one is gonna pay any amount of money ever again to see Prince live so a ridiculous comparison imo. Take it or leave it...but damn, it's tiresome to see his fans bitching constantly about everything being done to keep PP operational. Would you all be happy if it closed down and had to be sold because people didn't want to pay to support the cost? People don't really think the family should foot the bill, do they? How else will the doors stay open? People need to get a grip and stop complaining all the time about everything. Sorry to rant, but I'm tired of this same scenario played over and over and over.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

I guess we'll never know. But I'm sure the last thing they want are news/social media stories about having a hard time selling tickets. My guess is there is a limited quantity of the 4-day passes and soon they'll be offering cheaper single day passes.

4 days, 5 hours each day works out to $20/hr for the GA package. A normal tour is $38.50 for 70 minutes. Not that expensive when you look at it that way. But I won't be surprised if they offer single day options since some people can't afford or don't want to spend that much time there.

I don't actually think the price is too bad when you break it down and think about what you're getting. However, I'd be flying out from the U.K. and its already stretching my budget. Besides, I'm planning on a four day trip and there's a lot of different Prince related places I want to see while I'm there not just the inside of PP, so a day pass for me makes more sense! Looks like I'll wait a few weeks and plan my visit for May instead.

The $999 seems high to me. I have no desire to meet anyone - only did one meet & greet in my life and it was a disaster. I think they are testing the market . How many people will jump at the offerings. Remember - the talent has to be paid, the overhead has to be made ... It didn't mention the family, did it? Or did I miss that? If I lived near Minnesota, I might splurge on this, but ...

I wonder if they'll offer other, cheaper packages at some point. Maybe for individual days or just concerts or something?

This would be very nice. If they come up with more offers at a lower price eventually. Maybe just the concerts (I completely see that happening), so that more people can go. Although we did just have the Tribute Concert. Still would be great though to let more of us attend that year mark.

I would really love to attend this but shit! $499 for General Admission and $999 for VIP??? Well just damn. Since I work Monday - Friday, I'd have to put in for my 2017 vacation time on January 2, 2017 and I'd have to be there all 4 days, so there's the additional airfare, hotel and car rental fees. And there's no way I'd be able to come alone. So my expense is multiplied by 2.. from the get go.

For that kind of money, I really have to ask...is there going to be a SEANCE??? Because the ONLY way I could justify spending that much damn money. I would have to somehow be able to kick it with Prince, himself. IJS! shrug disbelief falloff

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
