Given I would have to fly in from the other side of the world plus hotel, the ticket price would be the least of my worries.

So it really depends on what is being offered over the 4 days. I could go to a multi-day music festival for that price and see loads of bands.

A little bit weird that it's celebrations around the date he died but those dates actually suit me really well.

ps: although i stand by my comments made in my prior post, i am really very grateful that somebody stepped up to manage the Park.

i believe/hope that with time the kinks will be worked out and the project will fine tune itself as time goes by.

better late than never; here is my very belated thank you to EPE/Graceland for trying hard to save Paisley Park!

So, I go away for a couple of months and we get moonbeams and celebrations!

Good band line up, and dates in advance. I think this might be my Park farewell. Just what the doctor (Fink) ordered.

I've booked VIP (track one). Anyone else going from the UK? I need to get my planning hat on.....

Nope, don't believe for one minute anyone is trying to screw the fans over, but I definitely believe that people are completely clueless as to the operating expenses for PP. Brownmark is going along with the flow of complaints: not our choice, I'm shocked too, so on and so forth. It's not on the performers and shouldn't be put on them, they've agreed to perform but they aren't calling all the shots. But again, if people have no idea of the operating costs...and I mean ALL of the costs, including borrowed money to have even started the PP museum et al, then it seems outrageous. People should be looking into that though and educating themselves rather than endless complaining about cost. I'm willing to bet that the cost is justified. Just the fact that PP will close if fans don't support it should be enough incentive for people to investigate further.

[Edited 11/29/16 12:21pm]

And to build on that...P seems to have often operated with little regard to the bottom line. At the moment I'm thinking of what Alan Leeds has said about this. And there have been other hints of this over time.

The point being, its wonderful for the fans who went that they "only" paid $250 or whatever for past Celebrations. That may or may not have been enough to cover the costs of staging it or make a small profit. But PP is in a different situation now, with management that needs to at least break even, if not make a profit from its operations. Prince could always go on the road and make money touring...that revenue stream is now gone. And I suspect going forward the vault material (assuming it starts getting released) will sell, but will not be selling millions of copies.

Indeed. Londell is working for the Bremer Trust, who hired him (and Koppelman) to help them manage Prince's affairs until the inheritance is settled. Obviously, BT is involved in organizing this Cele, given that they are the ones currently running the estate. So why would someone working for BT be publicly criticizing the Cele? Looks odd to me.

OTOH, it seemed like Londell got heavily involved in organizing the tribute concert, and we saw how that became a bit of a cluster. So maybe he was kept out of arranging this event? wink lol

I think there's a bit of misunderstanding here.

Bremer hired Graceland Holdings to operate Paisley.

Bremer hired Londell and Charles to operate the recorded music business deals.

Events at Paisley aren't going through Londell. He can report back to Bremer if fans are expressing grievances.

Fine, but its still not a good look for Londell to be publicly sniping at things going on at PP. He's been overly talkative (primarly via twitter) for quite awhile now. JMHO.

So do you concur with my assessment that he had a lot to do with organizing the tribute concert? I mean, the one that happened, versus the promised one (at US Bank stadium) that didn't happen, lol. In fact, do u have any insight on that mess?

Well, this is certainly interesting -- I can see the route they are going to take with PP in the future, with having these fancy concerts/events at a premium cost! Who the heck can afford that, other than rich people who have extra $$$ to throw around, and the Hollywood celebs?

.

I dunno, but I just don't feel that this is something Prince would ever do!! He used to hold events and charge a reasonable fee so everyone would be able to afford it!! shake

And, having this on the anniversary of his death is just weird, imo. eek

Could this mean that until this date, nothing else will happen ?

Or get released ?

-

I'm sorry, but... $ 999 or $ 499 for, having a chat wit the best thing on the list so far; The Revolution ?

They are so cool, you can even talk to them before or after one of their own concerts...

Talking to ThirdEyeGirl Members ? Seems not all that interesting... same goes for Shelby J, etc...

-

Just don't get it, (this)

-

Can you try on, or touch some of Prince's clothes for that kind of money ??

(just kidding) wink

I think you are right. Plus, they should have never tried to make it like 'Graceland'. I saw a park once dedicated to members of the band Rush. It was in Toronto and there was even a stage/ampitheater. People can come and go as they please with no fee. Plus, they can watch local artists perform. I think Prince would have wanted something like this - something free and something that might inspire someone to pick up an instrument one day. Not a tacky, expensive museum with a gift shop that sells unapproved merchandise.

Alan is such an ass. He accepted responsibilty when he let people go and started to cut back. He appears to have learned his lessons from the late 80-early 90s and started to reign in his spending.

I suspect that the 200.00 back at the celebrations were to low of a charge just like I suspect when he charged $25.00 at the Forum he probaly lost money but he wanted people to come out and have a good time. Now we have no one to subsized these events and prices will need to be charged to cover expenses and make a profit. People need to get their heads out of their asses and realize we are in a different era.

Londell gets a lot of tweets from upset fans - would you rather he ignore them?

Yes, at one point Londell did have to step in, because there was a very real chance of the plug getting pulled on the whole thing. I wouldn't go as far as saying he saved the event, but his input was helpful and he did help to straighten the whole thing - there were still flaws, but at least it happened.

Exactly!!! this make no sense. Should be tours in the Day, concerts at night...just like previous Celebrations. There have been so many tributes, some good, some fiasoc's....everyone should have chilled...had a all out awesome 3 day festival with all his line ups, bands, fnas, etc. I'm sure there is no mal intent with this but it seems like no one has really been in charge.

Looking at it from PP point of view, by doing it this way, they can cater for 3,600, rather than 1,800.

i wonder if current Paisley Park management would be willing to work with local businesses/vendors in the City of Chanhassen to obtain discounted rates for lodging, food, drinks and other necessities for those individuals traveling to Paisley Park's April 21, 2017 memorial celebration??

Purple group rate discounts could be worked out, i think. Chanhassen was very supportive of Prince, he was very well loved. so maybe local vendors might be willing to honor discounted rates for those holding a "Purple Pass", which might help defray the costs of travel and make the Celebration more attainable for fans.

it might even be kind of fun; imagine a neighborhood event, with restaurants and bars and hotels participating in a moveable feast/progressive dinner party scenario.

Paisley Park would include the Purple Pass with ticket purchase, vendors/businesses would benefit from dedicated large groups and maybe even 'charitable event' tax breaks, and the thing could be marketed as an extended four-day Purple Event, benefiting all those involved.

just a thought.

ps: would current Paisley Park management be willing to arrange tours of popular Prince sites (lake minnetonka, first avenue, graffiti brige, etc.) around town for travelers without transportation?

if memory serves, there is already a business providing this service; perhaps this service could be linked with/incorporated into the Celebration activities, with regularly scheduled buses picking up groups for Prince tours at the Park and then returning them to the Park?

okay, this is TMZ. if what they are saying is true this is criminal.

if i were the family i would ABSOLUTELY hire an independent attorney auditor and forceably negotiate the amounts on these invoices. the below is just bullshittery.

from TMZ article eek eek eek eek
$2.3 million in bills racked up from July 1 through Sept. 30. As the estate describes it ... handling "the complexity of the problems involved" doesn't come cheap, and requires a bunch of high-priced lawyers. The biggest expense so far is for the legal services of Stinson Leonard Street at $1,840,895.97. Remember, that's just for 3 months of work.

I was going to add my comments about this before the link to the TMZ article was posted, but I believe it's quite true and accurate. The lawyers involved and their fees will make it impossible for PP to survive. I think there is a bit of desperation to get the finances back on track, but I honestly don't know if they can make enough money to get ahead of the legal fees much less the day-to-day costs of keeping PP open. Back in June I was reading some carver co court documents related to the legal fees that were piling up. It was an insane amount already at that point. It's all a matter of public record btw. At this point aren't things a bit more under control that they could perhaps do away with some of the attorneys? They are going to have to find a way to trim some of the legal teams or it's only a matter of time before they have to shut it all down liquidate assets including PP proper. Amazing how something as basic as having a will could have prevented incredibly huge losses.

And to clarify earlier comment about the price I don't think $500 is out of line for four days of events and entertainment - it is a lot of money to come up with all at once, especially during this major holiday season. I wouldn't think twice about buying a one day pass tho for $125. I do hope that is an option down the road because I will be crushed if I can't attend this celebration.

I don't doubt it. They obviously need the money. I don't think anyone disputes or has a problem with that. But there is a lot of things they could be doing but aren't. Instead they just keep asking fans to pay thought the nose.

i wonder if current Paisley Park management would be willing to work with local businesses/vendors in the City of Chanhassen to obtain discounted rates for lodging, food, drinks and other necessities for those individuals traveling to Paisley Park's April 21, 2017 memorial celebration??

There is an arrangement with some local lodging (a discount code), but I got a much better rate via booking.com for a room in Eden Prairie. lol But I also made that reservation well before the Cele was announced. wink

Yes, start streaming some of the vault material via Tidal (or whatever) already!!

All this reminds me, the estate also has that huge estate tax bill coming soon...not sure how they plan to cover that. neutral
