I have never paid $999 for the Prince celebrations when he was alive. I'm not sure that he would want us to be celebrating the day he died. Most of us already did the tributes and have seen many of the acts that are performing, so they better come up with something else, i.e., viewing of the entirety of the January 21st shows or this won't be well received.

Well he didn't celebrate birthdays so I guess then they'd have to pick a random date? No matter what they do some will not agree and/or will think it's a rip-off, something Prince would never have done, etc. That will happen every time the Estate does anything.

A random date would be infinitely better than the first anniversary of his death. disbelief

That is true. They are not going to make everyone happy. I can tell you that $999 sounds like a shake down to me regardless of the date or content. $499 is a shakedown too.

Right now I have mixed emotions about this confused . I recalled last month there were talks about doing a special week event during the anniversary. Each day would be something different. Now this seems slightly different from what I was previously told and I personally don't care much for a souvenir from special guests (rather have my pic taken with murals or elsewhere in PP). If it was for 5 or 6, days, then prices would have seem a bit more reasonable

The $999 seems high to me. I have no desire to meet anyone - only did one meet & greet in my life and it was a disaster. I think they are testing the market . How many people will jump at the offerings. Remember - the talent has to be paid, the overhead has to be made ... It didn't mention the family, did it? Or did I miss that? If I lived near Minnesota, I might splurge on this, but ...

I would love to understand the thought behind pricing. Why would they intentionally price it to where many would think it's an outrageous cash grab? If nothing else it looks bad from a PR standpoint. They're not charging outrageous prices for tours or merchandise so why for this? confused

I wonder if they'll offer other, cheaper packages at some point. Maybe for individual days or just concerts or something?

Well, we know that's not totally true because the Celebrations alone were built around the week of his birthday.

As far as the pricing - waaay too much.

I don't really have a problem with the date. Prince said he would celebrate the day he died, when explaining why he didn't celebrate birthdays, so why not? Yes, it will be painful to remember he's gone, but his legacy should be celebrated always.

The gross part is the price. Way too high, and a total shakedown. I would happily drop that for something extremely special, but what they're advertising doesn't seem all that special. And there are many who could never afford even the GA package. They shouldn't be left out.

Rogifan, they might. Recently, Bruno Mars was here and the ticket a good floor seat (not the highest price) was $600. Stevie Nicks in the same section was $300. I don't know how they can come down from the $499 since that has the best two parts of the celebration offered in both packages.

There's an official press release now which says programming and additional special guests will be announced "in the coming weeks". Also says individual day passes are "not available at this time" which makes me hopeful they will eventually be offered, especially considering the press release says supply is limited.

This is WAYYYY too pricey for me seeing I just dropped a bunch of $$ to attend the tribute in October no no no! If they offered tickets for individual events I would consider it, but I'm not ready to spend that type of $$ again anytime soon...I guess I'll have to find something local to do with myself or just stay home and have a good cry bawl

Press release says "Individual day passes are not available at this time." so there is hope they may be offered once the 4-day passes (which the press release says are in limited supply) sell out.

Or don't sell out - which is the more likely scenario. lol

I'm not bothered by the price, but I'd much rather they did this the week of June 7th instead of the week of April 21st. Maybe they'll do both?

Prince had fans all over the world. People will come out to this and I can't get away to go but I wish those they do go a good time. I don't go around trashing stuff I can't afford or get to.

Press release says supply is limited so I'm guessing not that many 4-day passes were made available, otherwise why even mention that at all, especially at these prices?
