I got my own room to record in! Hi guys. I just moved on Saturday to a 2 bedroom apartment so my boyfriend and I can have our own studios to be creative in. That night, a fire started in San Diego. This fire has gotten WAY out of control.
http://www.prince.org/msg/100/66958 Sunday it was hard to breath outside, lots of ash and smoke in the air. We tried to clean the old apartment, but all the freeways were being shut down so we had to get back to the new place. Anyway, I wanted to let you guys know why I haven't been around much lately. All my computer and music stuff is still packed. At one point the fire got really close and I thought what would I save if I had to take just one suitcase? My lyric book, my cd-rws with my song files and my Duran Duran video tapes. What would you take with you if your house was in danger of burning down?

It's great you've moved in finally! but those fires are just crazy, I hope you're gonna be Ok.
I'd probably save my laptop, my guitars, my music collection, my really cool Calvin Kline coat, my wallet, phone, passport, change of clothes, and copy of home insurance certificate (which I'd maybe used to get an extra laptop, a few more guitars, and an alternative coat for the less pretentious occassions). Actually I got a distant uncle who lives in San Celemente! I hope he's gonna be alright. I had his house to myself once when I had a conference in San Diego. He'd be well pissed if that house got burnt down. At least it'd cure his ant problem. He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. - Albert Einstein

Congrats on the move and the new recording room Vina! I hope those fires get put out soon. I heard that the authorities thought they might have been started by arsonists! Filthy swine!
As for what I'd take, I would probably just get my 1979 Guild X-500 jazz guitar and my 70's leather jacket. If I had more time I'd definitely try 2 take my laptop (cuz it's got a lot of my songs on it!) and my lyric notebook. Whew, I don't even want to think about this! Lol!

I´m so glad 2 hear signs from U,
I really don´t know whatI´d save if I had 2 choose just a few things. I´d just make sure me & those around me was safe. Of course if I had musicfiles & no backup I´d take that. /peace Manki

Again, glad you and your man are safe.
Congrats on the new place. If it was me and myhouse was on fire, I'd just take my dogs. Guitars / equipment are replaceable and the music is in my head.
