Prince on bass - the rumble.

I've read in DMSR about the bass technique used in stuff like Cloreen Baconskin and Irresistable Bitch, but dang if I can do it.

Do you bass players understand what/how that style works? It's not exactly thumbping, I don't remember if a pick is used or not - but I'd LOVE to play like that. If you have a clue, hook a nilla up.

I think he's just strumming the strings. worked for me on some of my earlier stuff.

I loved the a4mentioned tracks and wrote some appropriated versions.

I just tap on the them like i'm strumming them, & on beat. Then playing pharses with my fret hand. Hook it up to wah & it really juices up the rhythm.

I've been usign the wah on my Bass quite a lot recently, although I ain't written much recently, still keepin' in practice.

I've often wondered how the 'rumble' is achieved. I think it may be a combination of slapping the string while muting the note and alternating between the dsired note and its octav above. Perhaps?
