Why anyone joined in the first place is what mystified me.

I had $77 lying around but I waited to see if anything good ever came out of the club - if it had then I would have joined.

Why didn't everyone do that ?

i can only speak for myself here and say that i did intend to do
just as you did but in the end, i got sucked into the hype and
the drama of it all at the last minute and decided to join just
to see what it was all about.

glitch heavy as his other sites were, i never felt like they, at
any point, were a total rip off. in the end, after some moaning,
he did pull through on all of them, imo.

but since that $ 25,- lifelong membership and now this, i think
more people will adopt the 'wait and see' stance.

That was what did it for me. I got alot out of the NPGMC, all the ahdio shows, the ONA discs - that was worth it. Good stuff.

but then to end a lifelong membership on a techicality ? No thanks

From then I wasn't going to join anything again unless I see something worth joining for.

If people get sucked into the hype that is their own problem. Don't come here complaining because you can't control your own spending. The T&C's never promised to deliver anything to you.

i just like complaining, it's the one thing that has brought me pleasure
out of the whole lotusflower experience. well that and the actual lotus
flower title disc.

it's not about money though. it's about the baffling way in which these
websites are run and the communication or lack of communication that's
kind of irking me at the moment.

the fact that i signed up and thought the website not worth $77,- is all
on me, i don't think i can complain about that, no.

but i can, and will, complain about their bs means of running their ship
and that is ultimately the reason i won't sign up for something new in
the future.

with a direct debit your bank account (which is not linked to or has anything to do with a credit card) has a note as authorisation so when a transaction from the authorised company requests payment from your account, it gives the money over. for the company to obtain payment they have to send a request for payment with both the bank account number and sort code along with the amount of payment. when the bank receive the request they pass over the payment as long as the account has a note of the direct debit. the transaction takes 3 days and is similar to a BAC's payment, but in reverse so it's a debit

with a credit or debit card, the card details and amount are presented with a request for the funds. the account has no details of the companies making debits, and credit the money to the company as long as sufficient funds or credit is available

it sounds to me that they automated the process of debiting the credit cards, but how they did this with card numbers no longer held on the members accounts means that there was a major flaw in the system, as obviously this should not have happened. it sounds like they kept a database of card numbers that was not updated correctly, which is essentially negligence

It was probably set up for reoccurring by the merchant (ie, lotsuflower) by mistake. I've had to set up auto credit charges for my political campaign work and a lot of times it's a one click option to make the charge reoccurring. That's probably what happened here.

Add me to list that Lotusflow3r attempted to charge me early this morning....I even went to the website yesterday and changed my cc info but they charged the one on file....luckily I only had 70.00 on the card because its my payroll debit card for a job that I no longer have so tomorrow I am going to the ATM to withdraw the funds and close the card since I called the cc people and I told them I am disputing the charge if they try again and he refused to block it because they are not like a normal cc company...WHATEVER!! LOL!!

Thanks Prince!! I miss the NPGMC!! I usually am one of the ones that give the benefit of another chance but I am done til I actually see a website that is worth giving my cc info to him again.

that seems to be right, and a fairly common thing, but how they did it using old data instead of current data is beyond me. normally you would have to have something to trigger the process (even automatically) the data you hold on file, so how did it process data that had been removed/deleted? if people changed card numbers to fake details it should have rejected the payment, or if they were smart the system should have verified the details at point of entry and denied attempts to input rubbish like ones and zeros, in the same way that other merchants verify details at point of sale. it shouldn't have accepted junk for details and ignored that for the old data without informing the customer at any time

the fact that lotusflower and the guy who set the site up don't know how this happened and they denied it should have happened just screams of negligence, and the email sent out saying year 2 shouldn't have been charged sounds like the website is in limbo (like we couldn't figure that out before)

it's got nothing to do with believing, that's the way it is. if you want to take the word of a call centre bank operative over mine, then that's your problem. just remember who's staff fucked the world into this recession, and prince doesn't get the blame for that

Much confusion over semantics. What I have been referring to as a direct debit on a credit card is in fact a continuous authority transaction. As far as the card holder is concerned, there's little difference between a direct debit and a continuous authority transaction - of course the rules are different but they both allow multiple transactions of varying amounts without requirement for each transaction to be individually authorised by the card holder.

I have no idea why continuous authority transactions are referred to (within the Irish banking system anyway) as direct debits, but they are. Perhaps it was thought that because (as far as the card holder is concerned) they operate similarly, it would avoid confusion, although knowing the way the Irish banks are run, it was probably done for the opposite reason.

As you claim to know what you're talking about, you will have known that I was referring to continuous authority transactions, so I can't for the life of me figure out why you didn't just correct me instead of engaging in a pointless argument about direct debits.

I wasn't having a dig at anyone - and it's ridiculous for you to ascribe some sort of nasty intent based on a simple question of whether English is someone's first language. Especially on this site where English isn't a lot of people's first language.

I misinterpreted nothing. I am a writer by trade and will put my interpretive and writing skills up against anyone's. You stuck your nose in where it didn't belong - and then had to make me the bad guy. That makes you a jerk.

EXACTLY! History has shown us that, when it comes to Prince, you have to take a 'wait and see' approach.I remember in the mid-90s,I subscribed to his NPG magazine.I didn't receive an issue of the magazine until six months later, after weeks of complaining, calling and sending letters. And then there was the Crystal Ball fiasco.

In one year only, for $77.00, I was able to have the opportunity to get tickets via Lotusflow3r.com to see Prince 6 times, in three days in L.A. and up in front too! I also was able to see him again in Minn. @ Paisley Park. Well worth $77.00 in one year. I guess for me, it was a good investment. I don't think all this trouble was intentional, I've been around for awhile, all in all, the good times overcame the bad and made it all worth it for me. I will accept the apology,in hopes all will be corrected soon. I agree the web site is not as good as NPGMusicclub, but that is another issue altogether. Thanks, Prince

And Prince thanks you for this review. lol
It's good that you got your money's worth. At least a few folk will walk away happy from an otherwise "pretty" but lame website.
I don't know if you had to travel to go see those shows or if you are in the general area, but not one of those shows took place where I (or many fans) could get to without having to invest in airline tix and hotel (not to mention the rest that comes with travel). And if you can afford to do all that on a whim just to catch a Prince show, great, but many of us cannot. With tours at least most folk get somewhat of a chance at making it a night out.

So unfortunately $77 was not a great deal to a lot of folk.
