Prince Opus - will it see the light of day?

Hi all,

I just browsed the older news on Lotusflow3r and came upon the anouncement for 'The Prince Opus'. You can still pre-order it. I'm curious about how many people did order. I was and still am in doubt if I should order one.
Do you think it will see the light of day?

I did a quick serach here on The Org but couldn't find any thread about it anymore?. Do you think it will see the light of day?

You can see the Opus on www.krakenopus.com. If you have $2000 spare change you can buy it; for most of us that is way too much money for it. The MJ Opus sells for pennies in comparison. sad

My guess is that it won't be released until they get enough pre-orders to satisfy their profit margain. I think that's why the delay has been ongoing... Even the most hardcore of Prince collectors can tell it's an over-priced rip-off.

Thanks Squirrelgrease:)
I just found out that the Google custom search does the job...
The 'Search this forum' option doesn't seem to work.

They look like expensive vanity publications to me, they have titles such as Celtic. Arsenal and Tendulkar, I mean come on!!!!! Won't hold its value and sink like a stone to become a worthless souvenir. No1 may be worth something with its pendant, 5 purple diamonds and 21 cut ones, what about the rest of the jewels what are they zirconites. Besides how long would it be b4 someone stole that shit.
The Content on the Prince one, is only the 3121 book in a different format and the same album and the Ipod has a 40 minute movie, hardly worth $2100 (NZ2950) for something most of us have
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Out side of the 5 purple diamonds and the 21 diamonds. I believe it also has video footage on there too which the other one similar to it doesn't.

Just adding some info. smile

The "cheap" edition will also have the 40-minute video as well as the Indigo Nights tracks pre-installed.

Get 'em while they're hot. lol

I wish I could find out how close I got to my prediction of less than 10.5 units sold.

That's probably an outrageously optimistic prediction. evillol

I would say you overestimated actual sales by about 11 units

Was in the Opus store recently(covent garden), they had the Prince footage on the screen-with no sound!! Guy asked if we needed help-turn up the volume we cheekily reply-all to no avail. sad General chitchat leads to his opinion(right or wrongly) that 21 nights opus wont come out til late next yr 2010,so only three years after the actual event then eh wink
Oh dont forget the number one opus(with the lovely shiny thing-oooh tis puurty) also has the exclusive gig for 50peeps with Prince, whilst the other non-shiny editions have the lottery to win $21000.
Still doesnt make me wanna rush(or take a leisurely stroll)to purchase said item. But yeah, I can't see it coming to light at all-maybe that'll be an enticement to rejoin LF.com for 2010-1yrs subscription and get this free opus book(just $99.99 shipping!!!)

I found that store randomly a couple of weekends ago. The books are beautiful - there was an amazing Superbowl one I saw - but what the hell do you do with them? They're massive! And they even make you wear a special white Jacko glove so you don't put greasy fingermarks on all the pages...

That iPod Touch will be obsolete by then. Damn, talk about overestimating your fan base.

Thanks for the update.

LOL, I'd forgotten about this silly thing. So let me get this straight: $2100 for a copy of the 21 Nights book in a fancier binding?! lol

You can order the original from amazon for $31.50 with free shipping!

http://www.amazon.com/21-...112&sr=1-1

In contrast, Mike's book is almost twice as many pages, isn't simply be a re-publication of an earlier book, and costs a fraction of what Prince's does!!

And to answer the original question: I'll wager that Prince's Opus will not see the light of day!
"I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015
