Hi everybody! This is my very first time in a Prince.org forum. Well, I tried to watch those videos on Lotus Flow3r.com, but it didn't work. Is it necessary to be a member of the site to watch'em? I tried to do it, but I gave it up when I realized that the first information you must give is your credit card number... eek

Welcome. Yes, the site is subscription-only. It costs $77 US per year to join, which allows access to embedded videos and the downloads of all tracks from the Lotusflow3r CD set in mp3 and WAV formats.

I suggest reading up on customer satisfaction in the Lotusflow3r site discussion forum on prince.org before joining.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I assume you mean that bitch as people will they still show up to the show?
For the record I DON'T support Prince that way anymore. Nor do I buy his music.I know enough people where I can listen to my hearts content, but after 2000 I felt he had jacked me around enough (and the up or downside- depending on how you see it - I stopped liking a lot of his output so it was easier for me). I'm one person, but my money says treat me better or you don't get it.
I was with him when he railed against the industry and it's rip off the artist practices, but his behaviour was not that far off one he got "free". The sick part is that people throw their hands up and say - "oh well...whattaya expect. He has a history..."
His artistic output notwithstanding - he has treated his fans a lot like he got treated by the powers that were. But he got paid, we just pay.

See ya at the concert!
smile

lol. Maybe in the next 10 years. I've got other shows I need to see. I can't (literally) count the number of times I've seen him live. Loved every last one of them too!

Requesting technical help

All other videos play fine but LRC is choppy and on any closeups the video is distorted by squares. Same thing happened when the site first launched.

Thought it was a bandwidth issue, but other folks don't seem to be having the same issue.

Brilliant.

Very pleased to watch these.

That is the best version of 'LRC' I have ever heard. And 'When Eye Lay My Hands on U' ... great arrangement.

Renato adds flavour to these and Prince's guitar/vox is spot-on.

Absolutely loved the videos. Loved the slowed down version of "LRC" very, sexy, and he also performed "When I Lay My Hands on You", beautifully. biggrin

Performances of "Little Red Corvette" and "When Eye Lay My Hands On U" from Montreux Jazz Fest were just added to the sphere. Enjoy!

So let's see, once again 16:9 video is displayed as 4:3. Then again, when I download the f4v file it's in 4:3, so the original DVD -> F4V conversion was done by an idiot. Oh well, I guess we should be happy it's in stereo and color. I mean, it's not like we PAY for these things, right?

Also, I don't know how but when downloaded, the F4V files contain errors, yet they play fine in the LotusFailure player. Some kind of primitive "protection"? Or just more FAIL?

Two (or likely 3) mistakes were made while encoding this video, one of which we can easily correct ourselves.
Background story is that these f4v videos contain 3 tracks, an h.264 video track, an aac audio track and some metadata track that i guess is a proprietary Adobe thing that noone needs.
H.264 tracks have, as metadata, the Picture Aspect Ratio (par; the aspect ratio used in the physical file), and the Display Aspect Ratio (dar; the aspect ratio that should be used for playback).
The 2 new f4v clips have an incorrect par, while the dar is actually correct. This causes these clips to play at an incorrect aspect ratio in any and all players.

To solve this, i used a free tool called MP4Box. It's a command line tool, and i used it with this command to fix the file:

MP4Box.exe -par 1=4:3 LittleRedCorvette.f4v

(the -par means we're setting the Picture Aspect Ratio of the track with TrackId 1 to 4x3. Use MP4Box.exe -info yourfile.f4v to see the seperate tracks and their Ids)

This simply updates the info in the f4v file, and without any kind of recompression you can now play the file in the correct aspect ratio. As a bonus you could now just rename it to LittleRedCorvette.mp4 and it will play in all players that support the mp4 container and h.264.
I haven't tested this with Quicktime based players (Itunes etc) , but I know that Quicktime has/had a non-standard way of interpreting par/dar, so these clips may still play incorrectly. If this is indeed the case, you can use VLC to put the h.264 and aac tracks in a fresh new mp4 container.

In VLC 1.0.1, go to Media => Convert/Save. Click Add and select your f4v file. Click on the Convert/Save button. Enter a destination file. In the profile dropdown, select Video - MPEG-4 + AAC (MP4). Click on the little toolbox button next to it. Go to the Video codec tab and check Keep original video track. Go to the Audio codec tab and check Keep original audio track. Click Save. Click Start.
The process takes about a second and you'll be left with a standard compliant mp4 file with the correct aspect ratio, and it was made without any recompression.
You may loose A/V sync in this step, because in the creation of the new MP4 container, VLC re-interleaved the whole thing... you may have to play with the interleaving setting in the Video codec tab to correct that, but i think there's only a small chance of this problem occurring.

Btw, this last step can be used to extract the AAC file without recompression as well, if that's what you want to do.

hmm All they brought to shows for me were zzz and yawn. Their playing is the antithesis of funk and charisma/personality.

See U at the next concert!

I don't go to Prince concerts to see Cora & Josh. I go to see Prince...so your reply is irrelevent to my comment about their playing being boring as all hell. (Although one could argue they play that way because Prince tells them to.)

I dont think he (and some others) 'can' cut it. It's all they have to go on.

lol

1. I'm a she, not a he.

2. If you think my comment is "hating" you misunderstand the definition of the word and my relation to it.

3. I never explicitly said Dayclear was one of those who let Prince "off the hook".

Does anyone on this forum have the reading comprehension skills of an adult or do people just respond to what they imagine they read?
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I agree with you 100%. If you feel that you haven't been rewarded by Prince and the releases for 9 years then by all means move on. My (and probably a few others on here) problem is every thread is riddled with bitter ex-fans who claim to want nothing to do with Prince, don't like anything he's done lately but insist on taking a thread about 2 performances to air their outdated grievances against Prince. We all get it already Prince is an untalented, money grubbing hack with no internet credibility!!! Okay, "WE HEARD YOU". We all choose to hang around and be tortured by Prince but you can feel free to leave anytime you wish.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. nod
