You know, despite my lowered expectations and moderate distaste for all things LotusFlow3r after the first couple of update-less months, I was pretty excited by this update. 13 minutes of new, live Prince footage on a Friday morning is an unequivocal good. And one of the songs is a rare one!

Obviously, anyone who pays for a Prince website at this point should know enough to invest in AudioHijack/MP3Trimmer or their PC-equivalents. Then you can play the songs all day long, away from the clumsy site. [Don't ask me to send my ripped mp3s over email. I paid a lot of money for them, after all!] These two songs, plus the "Large Room" studio take on the Montreux site make for a nice 18-minute EP.

But still, even as I've got these on repeat and am digging them--you can't forget that most A-list artists with a clue would be offering this level of multimedia *for free on YouTube*. Or on their own sites for free. (Look at what Beck has been doing of late.) As, say, a teaser for what the paid experience would constitute. But with Prince, this amount of media is the "deluxe" package. Just so weird.

So I'm not hating. I like these live performances. I just wish there were more, is all. On top of the membership fee, I'd even pay for a la carte lossless downloads of the songs--so I wouldn't have to gain-boost 'em and sequence them myself.

this is getting a bit ridiculus, complaining for ages that there is no movement on the site, then videos added, more bitching.

Give it a fucking break

Get outta my head cause I was just thinking the same thing. Enjoy what you got, its more than what you had yesterday from this site.

surprised no one has mentioned prince is using a slider on his finger now like bonnie rait guitar

and i would appreciate both per4mances on dvd thumbs up! more than any musicology or O2 arena show ...this is the prince the world needs 2 c ..even LRC sounds fresher
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Nice stuff, but not a top Prince performance.

U all know how much I appreciate John Blackwell and Rhonda, and I may stand alone on this one, but I prefer Cora and Josh's contributions 2 Prince's live music.

Cora is powerful and solid, and many of U want 2 dismiss her drumming 4 some unknown reason, but I gotta say that she drives the band HARD.

John is articulate and dynamic, and I love his style, especially on 'The Rainbow Children, and most of the ONA stuff.

I just prefer Cora's style with Prince live in general, especially with heavy Funk or Rock.

This is NOT 2 say I don't like his direction, the set list, etc.

I love this line up 4 certain things, but if it's heavy Funk or Rock, I like the way Cora hits it.

I think it's just a large ring, not a slider. I was going to comment on how I've never seen him wear a ring like that before.

hmm All they brought to shows for me were zzz and yawn. Their playing is the antithesis of funk and charisma/personality.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
