I think LF is not that great a site. I don't believe a petition will do much. Have a lil faith. Sooner or later the prettyman will give us some music.

I have a problem with the wording in that petition. It states "nobody is happy with Prince's website"...??? As a member of lotusflow3r.com I certainly never stated that.

1) How would the writer of the petition know that "everybody" that joined lotusflow3r.com feels that way?

2) Did the writer of the petition asked members who joined lotusflow3r.com, by doing a poll where they voted as to whether or not they were happy with the lotusflow3r.com site;and did the writer of the petition use the results of that vote, to draw his/her conclusion that "nobody is happy with Prince's site?"

3)That comment "nobody is happy with the website" is misleading as there is no true evidence of that to arrive at such a conclusion, and I doubt everyone that joined is "unhappy" with the site, despite the t-shirt situation or pending updated information.. Some members obviously have more patience than others.

I understand the writer of the petition is upset over how the site is run, but I can't see how the writer of the petition feels he/she could speak "more-or-less" for all members that joined.

Just my two cents. shrug

Then it should say exactly that, if that is what it is "meant to say". It reads as "Nobody, (meaning no one) is happy with Prince's website". It does not say "Everyone that signed the petition is not happy with Prince's website".

I chose not to sign the petition, because when I joined, no one put a gun to my head and told me that I better chalk up $77.00. It was a "personal" choice. I will wait a few more weeks to see if there are any changes or explanation for the delay of t-shirts and updated information.

Honoring jethrouk's request to have only people who agree with him post to his thread, I am over here wondering...

A petition? Seriously?

What do you think this will accomplish, exactly? Prince's web team controls nothing. Assuming they'd like to keep getting paid (if they are getting paid), it's unlikely they'll even bring your plea to his attention.

Does Prince care? Highly unlikely. It isn't as if he hasn't pulled the plug on websites in the past without provocation or prior warning. What do you imagine his reaction will be when (if?) he gets wind of your petition? Do you think he'll say, "Oh, gee golly gosh - a dozen of my fans are upset with me. I should really do something nice so they'll like me again."

Or is it more likely that he'll just pull the plug yet again, spiting the petition signers and screwing those who still hold some minute hope that there are good things to come?

I, for one, don't really appreciate the suggestion that people are all of a mind on this - and that those who disagree should just shut up. I joined the site with absolutely no expectations. (Have we not been down this road before?) I had the $77 to spend, wanted to download the album early, and if I do get a t-shirt - great. (If I get some "legitimized" music or preferred seating at a concert out of it, even better.)

With Prince, probably more than with anyone else, "you pays your money, you takes your chances." You don't want to assume the risk? Don't spin the wheel.

Mixing the metaphor, being a Prince fan is like playing the lottery, with the exception that he's actually paid out pretty damn well over the years.

I find it really hard to fathom that anyone would pay hard-earned money and figure, "If I get screwed, oh well".

Maybe the key phrase there is "hard earned".

sorry-but to me its bloody obvious it speaks only of those that sign the petition.

And nobody put a gun to my head too. But SOMEBODY (the site creator) bigged it up with some outrageous claims and four months of inactivity makes them now sound even more outrageous.....SOMEBODY called it a 'membership'. That does not imply the inactivity that has been so for over a month now. Im glad some like it.

I dont wanna convert anyone to the dark side and dislike it but I find it hard to believe anyone thought the place would be as dead as it is. That the updates would be stuff we've already paid for and isn't even slightly rare. Or for that matter-if you have a genuine concern (t shits or the lack of) that if you contact them as they stated we could-THEY WOULD COMPLETELY IGNORE US.

Well with that being said, that's your choice, and no one is stopping you from signing, so in all fairness, leave it up to everyone else to make their "personal" choice as to whether or not they choose to sign, just like they made the "personal" decision to join the site.

if i don't buy a lottery ticket, i'm guaranteed to get nothing.

what's it to anyone if jethrouk buys a lottery ticket, if he does so with the knowledge that it doesn't guarantee a jackpot?

and i know what you're thinking: we could apply this same argument to the decision to join the site in the first place; however, there WERE specific promises made that have not been honored, and there were numerous carrots dangled which of course turned out to be mirrors and smoke. so, even if there was the usual "no expectations" clause, there were certainly things implied to get the fans salivating. different sitch altogether than the risk taken by creating a petition.

Except that in joining the site, all any individual risked was his or her own $77. The petitioners are gambling with everyone's money - whether they agreed or not.

You need to research the term "benefit of the bargain". In business, it is NOT "You pays your money and you takes your chances".

That's the creed of carnies.

I would ask, what does one have to lose by creating/signing a petition?

Are you afraid Prince is going to stop adding new music and videos to his website, or quit offering tickets to his shows? 'Cause if you are, then you're worried about things that have not, and according to the way you guys read his contract, ARE NOT likely to happen.

If, indeed, Prince has decided to (in some people's view) screw over his fans and what we've got is all we're gonna get, then again - what is lost by the petition?

If you are afraid that Prince was just about to open up the vault, but now he's going to get his feelings hurt by the petition, and take his ball and go home, then I suggest you have badly misread the maturity level of a 51-year-old man. Prince has been at this game long enough to know that some people are going to criticize anything he does. But he also knows he's sold 100's of millions of records, so obviously there's a silent majority that supports him.

Although I am currently disappointed with Lotusflow3r, my history with Prince has been great. He has delivered everything he has ever promised for my money, in fact; he's delivered WAY more than promised.

That's why I think there's something wrong somewhere. Either there's a legal issue that's holding things back, or (hopefully not) a health issue that's put Prince down.

As of right now, the only criticism I have is the lack of information. If it's a legal matter, I wish they'd say they're working through it, so then at least we'd know why nothing is happening.

If it's a health issue, then I do understand Prince's right and desire for privacy. So the longer things remain silent, the more I get worried.

Exactly, or the "wider community as well." My question is..how would the writer of the petition know how "Prince's wider community" feels about his site?? lol "Wider community?" that could include anyone outside the unofficial fan sites as well. Not being rude, just saying that if you're going to create a petition at least get the words/terms right.

I'm not afraid of anything, but I know that the way Lotusflow3r has been operated isn't the way most businesspeople would do it. The lack of content and updates is worse than any membership website I've ever heard of.

So, assuming Prince is a man of integrity (which I believe), that means there must be some reason outside his control for the vapidity of the site.
