New topic PrintableIf we have learned anything from the history of Prince and his word, most of these things will never happen. Do I still have a "lifetime" membership? And of course, all of these things will have licensing problems out the ass, so you won't be able to play them on a mp3 player or anything. All streaming stuff, I bet. Of course, I'll join, because I'm a die-hard fan. Another 6-month lifetime membership.

For all those that are saying they won't pay $77 until they know what they are spending it for, why don't you just wait until the site really opens and see what is offered? This complaining before you have even been asked for any money is annoying. There are also people complaining about the little television, etc. The site is NOT open yet, people. Now you are just making excuses. If the television wasn't meant to be watched, in it's current state, why'd they put the performance on it? I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

another option would b 2 have either a yearly price and a monthly price of $6.50 per month. this way if u don't like what's being offered u don't have 2 b locked in2 a yearly membership man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I just don´t understand the complaining like Prince is personally offending people with an astronomical high price. He´s not. Prince doesn't communicate what he offers. You don't go to a restaurant and pay big bucks in advance for a surprise meal either, right ?

I don't live in the us and don't earn us$ so 77$ is a lot. Funnily enuff, back in 97 or whenever it was, I answered that bediscream email which asked how much you'd be willing to pay for a 3cd set. I wrote 50 bucks and coughed it up when the time came, but boy has a lot
of water and disappointment washed under the bridge since then... "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

...well, a good marketing ploy might be to rotate the songs offered for play, or the tv performance, keep the crowd interested. Give away some teasers. I don't mind the fuss and waiting anymore, but part of my interest was lost after the first couple of weeks. It's his style or bad marketing people whatever, but it's time to face it, that the fan base is not 15 year old anymore. Most of us are old geesers long tired off of this fuss and hassle and premajure declarations of things to come. May they come or not.

People buy concert tickets without knowing which and how many songs they are going to hear. What's the difference ??

I have gone to restaurants and sat with people that complain about every meal just for the sake of complaining and being difficult. I stopped going out with those people because they are annoying and their actions will affect me sooner or later when a waiter or waitress decides to spit in our food. ThreadBare said: By the way, a lot of writers take knocks here when their work gets posted. I think the author did a solid job on this article. He obviously has more than a fleeting familiarity with both Prince's musical work and web efforts.
hear, hear. i was pretty impressed by the writer too. how refreshing to read something by someone who actually seems to know what he's talking about. we're like two petals from the same flower, baby...

I paid $25 for a lifetime membership to Prince's NPG online site, and what did he do....closed the site down without even a word to the members! I went to log in one day, and the screen was just blank, and not a word from Prince's site about it, no explanation.....nothing! Sorry Prince, but I'm not giving you $7, let alone $77. I don't care what it's for! [Edited 3/17/09 20:19pm]
