I feel sorry for Prince. I've never known an artist get so much shit from his fans. Is the unveiling of his website really the single most important thing going in peoples lives right now? Give the guy some slack. We all know what he's like and all the people bitching about it on here will be the first ones on the site downloading and buying all the new stuff.
If anything we should be thankful that he's decided to embrace the internet once more. Just chill out everyone. It will be ready when it's ready and no doubt there will be a thread started here with the very same people gushing how amazing it is. Grab a coffee, put the TV on and spend some time with your familys instead on berating and condemning a person you all claim to admire. That's my whole point. I don't care. I've been a fan since the early 80's and I love the guys music. I been to many live shows and I buy everything I can and that's enough for me. Yes, I agree the guy can be a pain in the ass and frustrating on many issues when it comes to his fans but in all honestly I refuse to let it rule my life. And for what? He's worried about people making money off of him?? He needs to realized he is a PUBLIC FIGURE; he has no copyright except on his music.

Have to give my first reaction.
There has been some kind of fuck up with the site going 'live'. It is easy to show a 'fantastic, ground breaking interactive' experience to some music journos when the damn thing is running off a harddrive in the living room. It's a common problem when sites go live. But if this is true, then god help the web designers, etc.. today. I can just hear P shouting "well WHAT CAN u get to work on it tonight?' The sad answer three music tracks. One new (I like) one heard already (I love) one from a protege (I couldn't care less). The the alleged 3 'purple ticket winners' on Dr F? I smell cover up! Did u read their quotes? Little PP snippets.. Bullshit! "No really, what we meant when we said opening Jan 09, is that we would show it to the press first" "Honest" hmmm.. since when do public websites or any other media outlets advertise press previews? The more I look at his website, the less I like it. It's depressing, boring and creepy.
This whole thing has been a snafu or a weird way of destroying the past, IMHO. What I'm hoping is that Prince is going to create a new galaxy and this current one is being displayed to show what he's leaving behind. I mean, a TV from the '60's and a cassette player from the '80's? I have to think that doesn't represent what Prince foresees as a new galaxy. SURELY there has to be a better plan. I just hope we don't have to wait until March 7th to see it. February 1st would work pretty well for me. | |
