You know composing music, writing the lyrics and bringing it together is the most detail specific thing to do. It's like cooking the greatest meal ever for all the guests you ever wanted to invite into your life forever. Would you *yourself*; honestly, not want to offer the best you can to those you would like to have the best of?
I think it is honorable... even in my own item...I myself have changed my mind when I am going to release things; infact, I pushed something back that was going to be released last night myself for the sole purpose that I didn't feel that it was good enough to let it go presently. You can create what ever you want; however, IT IS highly admirable and loving to give the best and if it takes what ever amount of experience to get that then... so be it. This is his life, his love and his passion to which that degree of giving is moreso than just getting up, going to work and doing things just to get them done. If you really care about people then you want to offer up the best you can in any and all capacity. IF this was your life in creating music, experience and stories...would you not want the best for yourself to share same with others? Ask yourself, what do I do best and when I want people to enjoy the best - how much pressure do you apply to yourself at that very moment? Music is like making love... it all depends on how much you let loose and truly open yourself up to... in order to offer true love to another for it is the FREQUENCY OF ONE. With that being said... If you will sit back and think about it (and not just you, others that feel this way as well)...Since Prince is not going with a record company to promote this new music, THIS is his promo tool... He is giving certain bits to create anticipation for the big release! Therefore, THIS is his promotion! Other artists promote their new albums 4 months or so before they hit the shelves...right?? Yes! We just began hearing about this when? I think the first we started hearing was December when he posted some jams to the live streaming radio show. So, we are now sitting on about 2 or so months... Think about it...it is HIS way of promoting!!!! Am I satisffied??? Yes! Do I wish I had music to download last night??? Yes!!! However, it is only because I love this man's music and I get very spoiled and want it as soon as possible! But, it will come. Sorry if last night did not "do it" for some of you that feel you must find fault. But Prince is doing things as he feels the need, and he is promoting!! I saw several people on another thread saying that he did not know how to promote and since he was/is not using a record company his sales would be crap due to lack of promotion. Guess what??? Here's the promotion! Just because a lot of us "thought" he would bring out new music last night, to the public, did not mean that was what he was going to do. He brought it out to the press, a chosen few. By doing this...THEY will begin to promote his music, right? We should begin to see articles about what went down last night, how the music sounded, how Prince sounded... This is promotion leading UP TO the music... Tip: if the site doesn't open right or seems the same as before, a quick refresh worked for me. Obviously he wanted to preview the bottom half of the site as a tease. The top half or big part of the site will happen later.

If you think about who the big site launching was for, it was for us. Nobody outside his hardcore fan base even know that this was going to happen. I've only seen once place other than here or HQ that anybody was even talking about the site or his music coming out soon. We are the ones keeping things going in between product.
We are the only ones that truly care or have an opinion about this new era of music coming out, so who did he really hurt, in the grand scheme of things? Just a comparably small group of diehard fans. No big deal, according to a big star like Prince. | |
