well, here we R. we R all in the 10 month of the year but only the 9th month in R membership of NPGMC. know from reading alot of these postings alot of people R very upset, alot R use 2 this N others R not bothered by it at all. so, here is my question, "Who plans 2 renew with NPGMC?" Heck no I'm not re-joining. Theres no point in it. If Prince puts together an album he's excited about he will inevitably make it available in the stores. The one and only reason to join the club would be to see a rehersal, and I already saw one. However you want to do the math with the club, he can get away with charging members $25 per CD by making them think theyre in a "music club" but he cant pull that crap on a store shelf because noone will buy it. I got to be a part of the presale for the concert, but you know what, there were 11 rows of people in front of me at the show. They were not all NPGMC members! there were only about 3 rows of NPGMC members at the rehersal. Which means some jo schmo could have just as easily got those good seats without wasting 100 bucks on the club and being forced to prepurchase his 4 cds. In fact, any Prince concert that has come by, there were always $100+ seats available when I called. Prince allowing us into the rehersal really doesnt cost him squat.

I'm not going through all this pre-pay shit then spend 12 months wondering when Im getting my music, and what it will even be. He's pulled too many stunts, I'm not supporting any more of his endeavors.

In fact, if next years album(s) suck, Im not even gonna waste the money buying them period.

I support Prince, regardless of his business
brain farts.
He's given me too much, spiritually and musically,
for me not to support his efforts...
Plus, when you break it down, Prince seems to
mean well in his intentions...it's just that
something seems to always go wrong in the execution.
He's one of the good guys...

*** I would say that the fact "XENOPHOBIA" is no longer on the set-list on the tour, would be a HINT that it has no future..In other words, PRINCE ISN'T hyped on it anymore, or it's NPGMC cd release...you'll geet on "One Nite Alone Live", tho...

Here's why I think NPGMC will not matter after this year:

1) Boba Fett will return to kill off Mace Windu as vengance for Jango;

2) Dooku will kill Padme; Anakin,booted from the Jedis, in a rage will kill Dooku and turn to the dark side;

3) Obi-Wan will kill Anakin; Anakin will be brought back to life in his suit by the Emperor; living a life of entrapped slavery to the Dark Side as Darth Vader.

4) Jar-Jar will escape with Leia to Alderann;Obi-Wan with Yoda and Luke to Dagobah, and then Tatooine.

5) Prince will contribute the "Love Theme" from episode III, "When R2 in Love" which will BOMB spectacularily; failing to gain intrest in NPGMC.


...Nevertheless in 2005 PRINCE will be honored by Dick Clarrrk for hiis trailblazing internet pioneering success with NPGMC.I can see it, he'll perform "When R2 in Love".

Yes, I will sign up again. I knew in the beginning receiving "at least" 4 cd's was the deal.. it's a bit disappointing if the 3cd live-set would complete this deal, but hey, the advantages during concert sales are nice, as well as the free admission for aftershows.

if all we get 4 our $US 100 ($NZ 200) is ONA and the Live version - then no - I have been hungry 4 princes music since '84 and spent 2 much $$$ on him - I spend the time & $ 2 see him in Aussie in '92 and the ride has been great - up until about the time LG came along- don't get me wrong - i was excited that P was woking with LG - up until he changed 'the cross' to 'the christ' - i don't see the point of ruining a brilliant song - just 2 make a point on history - was he there? does it matter if it was a cross or not?Its gone down hill since then I reckon- anyway, i didn't join last year cos I wanted 2 see how things turned out - a friend gave me most of the premium stuff - so I thought I'd come clean and pay up this year - but so far I don't see the value in it...I didn't expect to see him live - and if I do - it'll cost me about a grand 2 fly 2 sydney again (with accommodation) - so 4 my $NZ 200 I expected 4 new cds - ONA, The best of symbol (although I wouldnt care if this was changed), Xenophobia and Last December...sounded like studio albums - maybe 1 or 2 live albums - not 1 35 minute CD, and 3 live Cds from 1 tour he has already made a bit of spare change from, but the bit that really annoys me is i thought that i'd b getting something that no one else could get - unless they joined the club - or at the very least something at a discounted rate - after all we've already paid $100 up front!!
So even if the 3 other cds are the live set - that makes it $US 25 per CD - not bad - not good when it works out to be $50 in my currency - not prince's fault I know - but well, lets just say that I saw emancipation in a local shop for $2.99 yesterday - thats $1 per CD!!! And when I bought it for $30 odd dollars when it first came out I thought that was fair - I still do - but if the NPGMC was around in '96 that CD set would have cost me $150 in my currency - do u see what I am getting at - semms to me that we are (as Tony M says in Jughead) paying 4 some rich suckas kid!
I've got my own child 2 raise - and I need my $$$ - I have some spending $$$, sure, but I also have different priorities - and I won't b ripped off.
But hopefully all will turn out alright - the year is not over! I will wait! and wait!...and I will pass judgement when the year is up...and P, if u r reading this - lets play nice - I spend my hard earned $ on u, the least u can do is play fair -ONA, xenophobia, and a 2 or 3CD version of ONA live would be ok - no, hang on - give me the 3CD version or nothing - and if its nothing - give me Madrid 2 chicago, the best of album or last december - I dont want 2 get the 2CD version for free and have to buy the 3 CD set - just 2 get the xtra CD

Well, the NPGMC has given me a splitting headache! I joined last oct.for a year, membership would have been up in oct.2001 and was told in march 2002 my membership was up in the first part of March! All i was able to recive for the whole 2002 year was a few downloads! I was so bummed i cried. I sent many e-mails, all the responses were the same, nothing we can do, renew now! I sent at least 10 e-mails and they just quit responding. I saved all my mail 2 them and all responses. So yes i was ripped by the man i have been dedicated 2 for , many,many years!I was going 2 renew this year , but after reading about all the trouble everyone is having, NOT!!! I am such a true fam, and have never downloaded a bootleg, but it seems thats the only way 2 get his music these days! P if by chance u read this, get the NPGMC shit 2gather PLEASE! Annastasa

I waited to join until I knew he was touring the UK. For me the access to front 10 rows, soundcheck, gig and aftershow at the Marquee PLUS CDs makes it worth it. However, if he had not toured it would not be worth it at all.

Having said all that, I am looking forward to receiving ONA and ONA Live but really hope Prince is sensible enough (from a business point of view) not to annoy his core fanbase by saying that is it, that's all you're getting.

I have heard rumours that ONA Live has been picked up by a label for release in shops. If that is so then it really sucks.

The implication of saying "at least 4 CDs" was four albums not two albums (one featuring 3 CDs).

If Prince wants to keep us all loyal he needs to at least meet (if not exceed) expectations. That means deliver four separate albums (as indicated on the tour programme). That coould be ONA, Best of, Xenophobia, Same December (?) then again ONA Live could count towards it as one and where is Madrid 2 Chicago (as hinted at during the downloads).

Whatever, he needs to deliver four albums regardless of the number od discs to ensure we ALL want to renew our membership (plus do another tour of course - please)

Please be patient. The years not up yet. @ the end of the annual subscription if we only get ONA & ONA live, then that's a con as the 3 cd album ONA live would work out @ $75. There's no way it could retail 4 that in shops. Obviously no one would buy it & P ain't stupid enough 2 pull that one on his fan base at this stage of his career.. I'm sure of that. I'm sure the goodies will come & P will deliver past our expectations. I'm hopeful I'll be able to renew 2003

I am sure that we will still get xenophobia as part of our membership and we still haven't had official conformation that ONA Live will be part of our membership. Also, it does still say on the site that the four cd's are members only, "DOWNLOAD has songs 2 download and the latest on the new Members-Only CDs 4 2002.". If this is the case, then ONA might not be a membership only CD, if it is having an official release. We might just get the opportunity to buy it earlier.

The long and short of it all, is that we still don't know what is happening and that lack of information is the single biggest problem with the club. I will renew, not because I am a 'fam', I hate that term, I will renew because I support one of the greatest artists of our time and $100 really isn't a lot of money.

I will not until it becomes worth the money. This year has been a joke, and sadly enought it does not look like it's going to change.

I probably won't be joining NPGMC in 2003. I was a member in 2001, and I was pretty underwhelmed with being given the same tracks 3 or 4 times again and again, and with Prince's non-involvement with the ahdio shows etcs. I didn't join in 2002 because I wanted to know what I was paying for - and I'm glad I didn't join. If the live album is great and only avaible from the club, maybe then I'll consider getting a 2002 membership. Unless the club changes somewhat though, I won't bother with 2003.

What I'd like to see in 2003:
- A return to regular subscriptions (e.g. every month or two months or every quarter you get a CD in the post DEFINITE) - none of this waiting around until the end of the year to see what you actually paid for 10 months ago shit.
- Downloads or physical CDs, I don't mind as long as I have a rough idea of what I'm getting and when.
- The club membership should include proper VIP treatment at the gigs. At the apollo London gigs as a guest of a club member, I sure didn't feel like a VIP being made queue for hours, hungry, tired, with sore feet. I want to just saunter into the venue, take my allocated seat, have a laugh with the other fans, have a glass of wine, enjoy the soundcheck etc. If NPGMC can't improve that concert experience for club members, there really isn't any point in the yearly subscription deal. How about a quarterly subscription...
