Looks like I just had to wait for the download sign to appear. Once it did I easily downloaded it. just got done listening to it so hear is my first response. It's lighter than I though it would be. For a song called "Guitar" I was expecting more guitar on this song. I'm not sure how I would describe it but it sounds fake or airy, just not real. It definitley sounds like the song ends too soon. I don't know if I would call this a "hit" but maybe a nice b-side to something better down the line. The lyrics are clever but overall I think the song is kind of disappointing. What a horrible download experience! I must say I think this is a different group of people doing the downloads than at the NPG Music Club. It's not WMA, there are no instructions or help docs whatsoever, a higher price than normal, and it was not promoted at all the way the NPGMC used to do it. I think we're stuck with a new and WORSE situation until the club really comes back, if ever. The pages all look nice, but this has been REAL sloppy every step of the way. Prince, PLEASE go back to the NPG Music Club. It wasn't perfect but after 5 years or whatever they did get a few things right. 3121.com sure won't be winning any Webbys anytime soon.  | |

Shit, if Prince loves his guitar so much, why doesn't he just play the thing instead of smothering it in high tech bullshit effects? If he really loved his guitar he'd want it to be heard.
Impression on first listen - pretty throwaway, not in a huge hurry to hear it again. The breezy mood is fine, it's just that musically it never really goes anywhere. It feels very raw and rough - just a "sketch" of an idea for a song, rather than a finished song that you'd ask people to pay money for. Lyrically if Prince is just trying to tell us that he is "married to his music", this spousal abuse needs to stop. Disappointed. | |
