Hum, pretty bad to close whilst preparing a new website: it takes months to develop a good website. The old one should have been kept open, with no subscription possible. That would have created a rumour which would have been gold for the launch of the future website... Crap management!

Think about it. I've felt for a while that his heart just isn't in it any more, that he's somewhat conflicted in the direction he wants to go and could just really use a break. The utter silence in the wake of 3121's release with just a few sporadic appearances, repeated postponements of Tamar's album, the announcement of a summer tour that still hasn't materialized -- it's as if his focus is NOT on making music at this point. It's like he's at a crossroads and we'll all have to wait to find out which direction he turns next.

It just might not be recording a touring. At least not for quite some time.

while the folks at npgmc have dificulties imagining where to take the club, here a couple of suggestions:

The Vault (audio)- unlimited streaming media access with monthly flat-rate (a la napster)

Live shows videos - same as above

Participatory freestyle corner - Prince lays the basic tracks, members improve, add and remix (web2.0 y'all)

Monthly Pay-per-view concerts from the living room/studio/stage

Just some first ideas. Please add further ones so we get a smoky new joint cool

As Desire2006 already has pointed out, now we know what Prince meant by that comment on BET

This whole year has been a bit of a mystery in the whole Prince realm of things, so I guess this is pretty much par for the course.
After 3121 debuted at number one, it got all quiet on the Prince front. There have been some great club concerts and TV appearances, but something's definitely afoot in Prince's world.
I hope NPGMC is just going through a major overhaul and not ending completely, because although many have had complaints with them through the years, my experiences with them have been mostly positive. Yeah, it took forever and a day to get Crystal Ball, but through the soundchecks and Celebrations, I got to see Prince more up close and personal than I ever had before.
Me and my sweetie are still clinging to hopes of a tour this year, so that's where our positive energies are focused now. Oh, and ending the war of course, and world hunger, finding a cure for AIDS, not catching bird flu, and basically saving the planet. But we do have our priorities in order. Prince tour first, everything else second.

I have not received a mail from NPG informing me of closure. Anyone else had this problem. Only way found out was from this forum

I just noticed that the NPGMC is completely shut down now. They're fast.

It probably won't happen, but I hope that the new site (if there will be one) doesn't require paid membership!

It would have been nice if they gave us all a weeks notice so that we could arrange to meet-up with members at the club on other websites I am gonna miss many now I hope we meet again.

I honestly am not trying to make anyone mad or hurt any feelings, or blame anyone but...
I feel like the message boards were some of the reason it closed. There were tons of positive people from the beginning (and to the end) in the beginning I absolutely LOVED reading all the posts/news/silliness. I only posted a few times but hung out there a lot reading.(like here) Then it seemed like it began to change into people constantly begging i.e. when is the tour, when is the new CD coming out, gimme this, gimme that, etc. Along with many repeats of the same topic over and over. Some of it I understand was excitement for new things but MUCH of it was outright begging, no one can deny that. I can't imagine the work the PPs had to do to try and curb that. You would even see post from the PPs saying, "No new tour" or "No CD release is scheduled at this time", but people would continue to post begging for info. Can you imagine the post they deleted daily or hourly (or by the minute). Anyway I know a lot of the begging and many of the other posts turned me off from going there and I am sure many others felt the same. Toward the end it seemed like there were only 30 members who posted regularly, and there never seemed to be many people lurking. Not much of a family if no one else wants to come to the house for a visit. Maybe it was time to shake things up a bit and open some new doors.


PS. Please don't yell at me too much! I loved the Club too, this is just my opinion about some of the happenings I observed. Like I said, most of yall were cool (many of you are here now) and fun to read I know you will miss the club but you have to admit how overwhelming the rest was becoming.

Wierd !

Someone made a post yesterday that they thought it would close soon, I didn't get to see the post that it actually was, and now it's gone !

I think the reason it closed was because it wasn't making money, or worse, was losing money.

The only section being used was the forums, and people weren't buying enough from the store.

Looking forward to seeing what's next.
