I did wonder whether the 3121 web site would eventually supercede NPGMC...

I mean - "3121, don't you wanna come?" suggests a place for people to visit doesn't it? This would be consistent with Prince's statement of years back which if I recall correctly was about wanting to be "in your living room".

Surely it's no coincidence that 3121 was the last track played out in the Glam Slam/3121 room either?

Nevertheless it is very strange timing, given the recent communications from NPGMC - the ahdio #1 show (which we all assumed would lead to #2 and so on, and the 'Fresh from the Studio' email).

And of course, there's no need to switch NPGMC off until the new site is ready. But then boards like this wouldn't be buzzing here and at HQ.com. You can't tell me that the PP mods aren't watching these threads right now!

But hey, we should be used to total about-faces and contradictions from the man. It's what is so frustrating/interesting about him after all.

There's no way Prince is turning his back on the web. For my money, the doors of 3121 will open soon with hopefully more music available. Dare I mention the Vault, Podcasts, more Work-in-Progress etc?!?!

Of course it will be a new club with new fees (hopefully a reduced joining fee for NPGMC members). But as long as it's along the lines of the lifetime membership (may be tiered this time - i.e. pay more for more access), that's ok with me.

This should be a golden opportunity. I'm prepared to wait and see - just don't keep us hanging on for too long Mr Nelson.

The new download store as well - how long did that take to design? I'm not sure if when the new club opens it will be so vastly different. I'm thinking it might just have more features etc and a renewed membership, but with definite perks to it, kinda like the $100 a year with monthly downloads, but not fucking it up so much this time. The emale did stress how much they'd learnt from feedback etc.

Even go back to that weird questionnaire - 'Whats your favourite unreleased track' - what do people think? That question alone made it ok to mention the fact that nearly all the members who post on NPGMC had illegal Prince songs. Alot of feedback has been requested lately...whats it all leading to?

Ultimately I think the last few weeks/months have been leading to plans for the next stage. Maybe Prince did get his webby and think 'its time to do something else', it would make sense.

I've pretty much accepted I'll have to pay again for the next club, though I agree I would like a discount as an NPGMC member. I doubt I'll get it though!

I'm sure it's gonna b back with a new name, 3121. Never liked the NPG name anyway. And I never renewed 2 a lifetime membership after my annual membership expired and they converted it 2 lifetime. RIP NPGMC....
