I think this whole ordeal is funny. The NPG Music Club wins a Webby Award, and now it looks like they are taking down the club in order to redesign and come back with something else????
To begin with the Webby Awards are given out to folks like Prince, with hopes they show up to the event. In order to draw crowds to the Webby event. I don't honestly believe they gave a crap about the web site. Prince take down your NPG funk Larry Graham intoxicated SOUND you had for sometime now!! and build your sound back up with something new and fresh. Thats what I think about the song sample posted, not bad but you can almost guess that it would be NPG funk. Maybe this death means new life!!!

Does this mean we'll get all their members coming over here to chat in the forums?

Good to see you around too! I got the final NPGMC email, so hopefully if they send any updates I'll get those too. And of course I'll post the info here and on HQ if it isn't already up. sorry, but i dont understand why everyone is getting upset over the "lifetime" deal....they have clearly stated for a long time that your membership is a "lifetime membership as long as the club is in existence". i am bummed that it is closed as well, but am not feeling slighted because it didnt last "my lifetime". the vibe has been for awhile now that the club would be closing.
if they open up something new..i will be there.

Apparantly the club was bleeding money. I had a feeling something like this would happen although it wasn't even hinted at to my friend.
Customers? In that case, I'm guilty. I don't buy the paraphernalia. I'm too old for posters and tambourines. I just buy music. This can be said about most of the prince fam- many of us have been around since Purple Rain,or before, and are about 30ish. Good point..... There will be something to replace the NPGMC. If it was bleeding money, was smart to shut it down- to regroup- and come back better..... [Edited 7/4/06 18:51pm] The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

Prince is sitting on mountains of material that he could be releasing through the club. He could be selling DVD compilations of all his videos, including the old obscure ones, complete concerts from the 80's to present, those things would sell big time. Make his entire catalog of albums available online for sale, even the ones that have gone out of print, and throw in a few rare extras so people buy it from his site and not itunes or some place like that. It probably is a goldmine, but I guess he doesnt want the days of wild to be his legacy now that he is JW..... The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

This thread is why I loveeeee the org so much....ppl bitch slappin' folks, they get up and slap the wrong person, then they laugh about it and then someone comes in and took seriously a joke and begins to complain and then Anx says anything that cracks me up.....
This has to be a classic org thread from top to bottom. Ya'll are some crazy mofos. I loveeeee the sarcasm of the org. You have to have the sarcastic drunk uncle at the bbq cussin' at the kids...that's prince.org.

Gee, maybe because there wasn't much there that many of us wanted to buy?! I bought maybe $60 worth of "merchandise" (symbol pendant, etc.), but that's not what I was looking for. I don't want baby bibs, journals, or incense. Tickets are nice, but beyond that how about some new music? Or some unreleased stuff from the mythical vault? I joined in early 2004...I bought everything then available that I didn't have. But I think I bought more "ahdio/visual," pressed and downloads, in the first few weeks than I did from then until yesterday! Good heavens, I guess all the pleas to release some of the "vault" material really did go in one ear and out the other! With regard to that material, please don't start with the "he's moved on" business. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff that isn't too dirty for him to be associated with now, plus he still plays various older songs so it's not like he's trying to pretend his past never happend. Well, hopefully this will start a trend and Tamar will be sent on hiatus, so Prince can focus on promoting this hot ass album and a tour!
That NPG music club was nonsense from the start, anyway.

Know what's funny, I just came across a website created today or yesterday, where almost every member of that NPGMC clique are the moderators. That's their choice ofcourse, but the irony is killing me, it's like they had nowhere else to go (can you imagine if some of them showed up with the attitude they had at NPGMC???). Man, karma is a bitch.
