Now seriously, yall didn't really think that $25 would give you membership for the rest of your lives did you? They did send an email letting you know it was ending. It didn't really explain why, but they did make folks aware. Hell, more than half of you wouldn't have known about it if you really never went to NPGMC in the first place wink

But for those who signed up when the price dropped... c'mon you should've gotten your money's worth. For those who popped up in this forum asking every 3 weeks "Should I join?" and "Why should I join?" and joined this summer in hopes of cheaper concert tickets... I've really got no sympathy for you and I don't think you've got a real reason to be bitter. You were give an advantage just like everyone else and you waited until you thought it would benefit you... it's just a wrong place, wrong time type of deal. If you joined last week, I'd ask for the money back. But if you waited until 3121 dropped, nahhh!!!

Was the club all that is could have been? In my opinion, that's a definite no. But there was plenty of time to weigh options and benefits of it. Unfortunately some of you waited too late.

I never received any email letting me know it was shutting down!!!

I did join just recently, but not because I had some scheme to wait until the price dropped or until 3121 came out. I joined recently because I just now had "extra" money and as a treat to myself, I did something I have wanted to do for such a long time-I joined NPGMC. I have wanted to be a part of it for a long time and while $25 really isn't a lot of money (for most) to me it was. I've spent so much time taking care of family members and not doing stuff for myself and I was really looking forward to being a part of the NPGMC. So, yeah i am bitter and hurt because I know that when /if he starts another site, with a higher price I will once again be left out of it.

I never even received the email. I went to sign on this morning and nothing! I thought it was me, but then I came here and read the news ... I signed up for the concert tickets and those were so great through the NPG, as well as the little heads-up's we always received through the Club. I will miss it, but will remain optimistic that something new will come from this decision ...

It's true. When Prince courts the mainstream, he hides the Larry. It only reminds people every single second that he has become a Jehovah's witness. Now that Prince has had his fill of mainstream-courting, Larry is back on stage, Prince is back to doing Sly Stone covers and Tina is ready with the towels.

I don't doubt what you say.

I dispute that this can be called "hardcore Prince" because Larry is around and he returns to doing covers and shoving religion down everyones' throats. I call that pathetic and hypocritical. You call it hardcore. It's a joke.

In this case, I mean financially Prince will be back to a business model gueared toward making as much $$$ as possible from his hardcore fans (those who remain!), not Larry = Prince performing Bob George, Pussy Control and Sexy MF uncensored, etc.

Something is up ya'll. This is a highly ilregular move. I mean that was just abrupt...site gone just like that. P take a break man...get somes rest...rejuvinate...take some time off. Be with you wife and enjoy your family. Prince has an ego ya'll ...we all do. BET Awards, American Idol, GMA, no radio airplay, the ignoring of Black Sweat which is vintage r&b/funk Prince a record that has sold less than 500K copies. I think hes very disapointed

That is sooooo sweet! I am very serious. I'm one of America's working poor. Little things like getting my hair done or buying a new outfit "just because" or (omg) going on vacation are extravagances for me. There's millions of us working and struggling and still living below the poverty level, it's just not hip to admit how poor you are!! Joinig the NPGMC really was like a little treat to myself and it became a waste of a VERY hard earned $25.00. That would be awesome if I could join again-if there is anything to join. Even though I keep saying I'm through with HIM (Prince) I've enjoyed the few times I spent in the chat room and meeting new people from around the world!!

I am actually pretty upset, and I was not even a member! I was actually going to join a couple of days ago to hear the new demo, but thank God I didn't! I would have paid the fee just to hear one song. I do hope they bring it back in some form, because I am a huge Prince fan, and I regret not getting to be a part of the club sad

July 6 and still no email. It's not in my spam folder--I didn't get it. Which is fine, whatever... It's just annoying that I received the one about the demo last week (or whenever it was) and now this one--which says stay tuned for updates--I don't get; leading me to be a bit pessimistic about actually receiving said "updates." confused

Honestly, it's not that difficult to do an email blast correctly. neutral
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

a previous npgmc moderator has stated in response to why some did not receive the emails:

eye can not answer that question. eye am sure this may come as a surprise 2 some, but Mods are not site admins as just moder8ing a large website with 1000s of members online at the same time is a full time job. Many people have not gotten emales so we are looking into that issue for the future.

Prince has emancipated himself from his fans and I don't blame him one bit. Why should he provide a forum for negativity?

When it was first known that the club was not accepting new memberships, I posted that he was probably going to shut down the forums like George Michael did. Looks like I was right.

If the forums' negativity was the reason (directly or indirectly) behind the shutting down of the entire website, why not only close the forums and chat? Isn't that a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

I personally don't believe the tone of the forums or the interaction of the fans therein to be the impetus behind the sudden closing of the Music Club. To assume such importance in the scheme of things or why this decision was made is actually rather presumptious and arrogant.
