The veggie voters have spoken, and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin have been selected as PETA’s 2005 “World’s Sexiest Vegetarians,” narrowly edging out a host of other veggie Valentinos and Venuses, including David Duchovny, Reese Witherspoon, Joss Stone, Avril Lavigne, Joaquin Phoenix, and Prince, as well as previous winners Tobey Maguire, Andre 3000, Josh Hartnett, Alicia Silverstone, Natalie Portman, and Shania Twain.
Going green is all the rage among the red carpet set. Celebrities cite many reasons for forgoing flesh foods, from avoiding the cruelty that is inherent in all meat production to improving their health and energy levels to helping the environment by not contributing to factory-farm pollution.
Country crooner Carrie Underwood—whose new single “Inside Your Heaven” has just debuted at number one on the Billboard charts—wore a “V Is for Vegetarian” T-shirt on American Idol, sending her popularity soaring among animal lovers everywhere. While growing up on a farm in Oklahoma, the 22-year-old has said that she decided she’d rather sing to the cows than eat them. Carrie frequently mentions that vegetarian pizza is one of her favorite foods, and while making her new album, the chef in the recording studio reportedly made vegetarian barbecue for her between songs. What’s more, Carrie is also known to rescue stray animals.
Chris Martin and his band, Coldplay, have also gone to number one on the Billboard charts with their new album X & Y, which this week tops the music mag’s “Hot 200” albums list. Martin and wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, are known for their love of vegan cuisine, and they made international headlines recently when they gave daughter Apple a vegan birthday cake from Moby’s New York eatery teany.
More than 13,000 people voted in PETA’s annual “World’s Sexiest Vegetarian” poll, held at PETA.org. Below is the complete list of vegetarian celebs who were in the running in this year’s poll.

That's how you can always tell who is the vegetarian - they look SO pale, it's almost unhealthy (and probably is, despite what vegetarian propoganda tells you)

I sort of think that Andre 3000 is a vegetarian just because Prince is.

Well humans are omnivores. It's kind of funny how people say there is cruelty in eating animals. Maybe we should petition maggots to keep off our rotting corpses when we die.

Or for f*'s sake, mosquitoes just run up unnannounced and just nip you stealing my precious precious blood. I've never done that to any animal. How friggin' rude and much crueler.

I do remember when a 10 month old baby was taken away by the state when a couple who were feeding it "natural" products. Which when their physician took a look found the baby malnourished and then reported them.

You have to remember if you are going to skip out on meat you'll have to make up for it some way somehow, and exercising will still have the same exact importance if you ate red meat or not.

I just may go veggie myself...

I get mistaken for a vegetarian from time to time, due to my thin build and the fact that many of my meals are meatless, just because of what pleases my taste buds. I have a stock answer when asked about it:

"No, I'm just skinny."

It's usually good for a laugh.

My brother has been a vegetarian for almost 30 years and he is far from being paler. However, he has very good healthty looking skin. But, I will tell you one thing that alot times most vegetarians do tend tend deviate from their normal diet and sneak (treat themselves) with certain types of junk foods at times.
