I'm wondering why spend the money to have it at the Muse and just not have it at Paisley Park from say 11pm-3am. Then again they probably making their money off of liquor sales. |

I'm perfectly happy with the line-up. Are there some proteges missing? Sure? But, it is what it is. Some, like Sheila E., say that they have other obligations. Okay. Did they have these obligations BEFORE the Oct. 13 date was announced? Maybe. Maybe not. Were they ALL invited? Who knows, but I sure hope so. Bottom line: Everyone has to be led by their own moral compass. |

$600 for the first night for VIP to see... Tyka ? ...and other 'close' (what?) family members ?
Why ?
Other nights $250 for the same VIPs ?
What aere the 'family memebers' going to do ?
Cry more for fake tears for $600 then they'll do for $250 the second and third night ?
Will the drama be less important then ?
I'm very well aware that the proceeds will help pay the estate's tax bill.
And I know the heirs arn't getting one $ of Prince's own earned hard work until all taxes and liabilities are paid.
Still it all smells, cause money is involved. Can't help but seeing it that way.

Now,
Where's the Revolution ?
Where's Sheila ?
Where are all the other important collaborators of Prince ?
Sure Londell McMillan is in the picture 'cause he is also the personal lawyer of Chaka and Stevie...

Danceparties ? Why ? Money ??
Has it actually been established that the proceeds of these PRNFamily dance parties will go toward the estate tax bill...or to the estate at all? If so, can you please direct us to that information? Thanks in advance. |

And, I know that the fams would much prefer having it at Paisley Park. Moreover, having liquor there goes against everything Prince believed. I know, it is what it , but I'm just saying... |

@PRNFamily has given Prince.org tickets to the official memorial tribute to give away to fams!
Check out the "Concerts" forum for the details and good luck to everyone who wishes to be at the historical event.
It's great how the family is very supportive of all of these memorial events being held in Prince's beloved Twin Cities.
They are also very sweet and generous to express their love to Prince fams in this special way.

But as for the topic of the thread, this holds no interest for me. Put some new music out or some concert recordings for sale and I'll be super excited and celebrate that.
That can't happen until the Estate is rectified.
No the judge is allowing business transactions to take place while the Estate is being sorted out.
I believe we will get new music. Also realize the only thing really holding up the estate is the same idiots who keep filling claims that keep getting thrown out by the courts. No one with the exception of the two charities have claims that are any where close to be valid. |

How come the family is silent about things happening at Paisley Park? Plans to build a wall. Clearing the fence of fan's tributes to Prince.
You think the family has control over whether tributes on the fence can stay up? No that's the city dictating. If you read the sign that was put up it's pretty clear the city was getting complaints about debris from the fence. The family and estate have to be careful here as the city at any time could pull the plug on PP as a museum and then what? It gets sold off to some developer so they can pay the estate taxes?
Did you read what I said? The family has hasn't said a peep, except for promoting their DANCE PARTY. You have previously said we will have to just wait and see what happens. When? Like after a wall has already been approved by the city and construction is underway?
The city council meets THIS Monday at 7 PM, to address the Paisley Park changes specifically. I haven't seen ONE fan from the Minneapolis/Chanhassen area indicate they are going to the meeting or asking the mayor/council questions. Everyone's just taking a wait and see approach?
Prince did a lot for the local area and he certainly paid a lot in property taxes as well. Assuming if the city IS pressuring Paisley Park to remove the memorials..... you think the family/estate couldn't contact Chanhassen's mayor and request, to allow memorials to remain on the fence until AFTER the upcoming tribute weekend? Seems like that would be considerate and best in terms of timing, with many fans coming to visit Paisley Park on the tribute weekend remembering Prince.
It's a two-way street between Prince's estate and the city. The city is hoping to benefit from the PP museum being there and revenue from visitors staying in hotels, going to restaurants, etc.

Ok. If you say so. But it's not right to assert that the proceeds from the dance parties will be used for estate taxes without substantiation, as did one of the earlier posts.

I agree. Any opposition to the fence must be proactive. I was pleased to see Londell tweet a #NoWall hashtag...but it will take much more than hashtags. I'm hopeful this is his way of signaling that he is on the case trying to prevent the building of the wall.

You don;t need to be clear of anything and many of the financial matters concerning the estate have been sealed by the court. Even the media can only get into the financial meetings on a case by case basis determined by the judge so why would fans be privy to any finacial matters.

Speaking for myself, I only hope and expect Prince's family members will honor and respect Prince's music/legacy/Paisley Park, and respect his fans.
Prince's estate is dependent on fans continuing to buy Prince merchandise and visiting the Paisley Park museum. Aren't the family the ones who are LUCKY, given that they did virtually nothing? Prince is the one that rehearsed, recorded and performed his ass off for nearly 40 years. He did all that. And, oh yeah, he also provided family members with homes to live in and helped them along the way. Prince also left an estate from which the family may prosper greatly.

FYI. According to the name of these three special events, the dance parties are going to last "until dawn". This means that, if they wish, those attending the tribute concert at Xcel can also attend the dance party afterwards. Let's please try to keep this positive. Prince's family have stated their support for the Xcell official tribute on Twitter: "The Twin Cities will be IT this October" and they say that it's because of the following: -#PRNFamily Dance Parties -Official Prince Tribute -Paisley Park Tours -Our Beautiful State
So who do you work for? Do you get paid by the post? The family? The estate?

I just think since the event space is limited, the vip area will be really small, hence the high price to reserve it for those who reaaallly want to meet Prince's friends and family. They know most people just want to dance, and they could have just sold 31.21 tickets, but they're offering choices to please all kinds of fans and I can see a lot of love and thought put into all of this As for me, meeting Prince would make me burst into a cloud of glitter, and meeting his family might make me a little too excited, too, so I just want to 'dance'. the family's life has probably been consumed by estate stuff since april and I hope planning these fun things has been a fun (albeit challenging) raft of relief for them in the midst of a sea of questions. prince's perfectionism is a magnet for demanding fans, and I hope the family always has immunity to all other than good will flowing through the veins of the tree of life...purplemaplesyrup |

Does anyone know why this thread was suddenly removed from the Prince forum and relegated to a forum that is not read by as many orgers?
It's also odd that there is no sticky regarding these three events being organized by Prince's family when, in fact, the Xcel memorial tribute thread has been made into 2 stickys.
Odd... |

You can hope that, but there is nothing obligating the family to do anything with his legacy.
His estate is NOT dependent on us - they can pay their taxes, burn the contents of the vault, sell off everything to the highest bidder and go on their merry ways if they so choose. We are fortunate that so far, this doesn't seem to be the plan. However P chose to help support his family while he was alive was his choice; that doesn't make them lucky that makes them FAMILY. I'm not faulting him or them for the choices they have made. Why are people so quick to decide that this was wrong??
More importantly, how did this morph from a discussion about the after parties into a complete bashing of P's family? [Edited 9/29/16 6:11am] U can be the side effect, I'd rather be the dope. |
