Apparently the show wasn't canceled until just several hours before showtime. I seriously doubt he just woke up with the flu. Most likely it's something else, but regardless, he doesn't feel up to doing the shows and being able to do his best, then smart move to cancel them.

I'm bummed though because planned my entire week around this and have great seats. At least I didn't have to travel here though.

Oh well, just the way it goes but I'm seriously disappointed. :-/

He had posted a picture of Earth a few days ago and said, "Despite Influenza, this is still an amazing world." (or something close to that). I think he was hoping he would feel better by today and would be able to still perform.

Yes he posted Sunday morning "Despite influenza this planet is priceless"

I'm sure he tried his best to get better for Atl but just couldn't physically do it... sad

I wish him well and a fast recovery...

Yes! That's what he said. I couldn't find the post again to be able to accurately quote him. :-/ The flu can really take a lot out of you, especially if you aren't getting enough rest (that's when it seems to hit me the hardest). I pray he'll get well quickly, and hope he doesn't push himself. His health is more important than rescheduling this show. Atl will still be there after he's completely healed!

Pity he's a vegan, or I'd recommend chicken soup.

The majority of chickens bred as of 2016 were raised in conditions that make them sick and make those who eat their bodies and eggs more susceptible to their diseases, such as influenza. i used to get colds yearly but have been continuously well since becoming a whole food vegan 4 years ago -- i've read many meat eaters admit that it is cleansing at least. but it does have a learning curve to do it long-term in a healthy way. eating only plants requires more nutritional consciousness, but the majority of diseases are the side effect of eating sick animals.

for example, i just googled this as more evidence:

You know, I'm sorry he's sick and all that but I feel more for sorry for the people that jumped through another of his never ending hoops and consistent short notice to score tickets. Prince doesn't seem to realize how hard this is for some people. Some people I know don't get ANY paid sick days at all and most of the folks who wanted to attend this show scrambled like mad and paid top dollar for ducats. Fought with weird loading loading screens and glitchy websites. Maxed out credit cards and what have you.

I entertained the idea of road tripping 6 hours to Atlanta and checking this show out but ultimately decided against it. Believe it or not, for precisely this reason. I have no trust that he'll actually do the show. He gives his fans a week tops to make arrangements, square it with their jobs, arrange for travel and lodging babysitters and shit and, sadly, often flakes.

This time, for once, it seems legit, but I've been burned twice already trying to juggle my busy life and attend his shows, only to have him tank. Sucks for Atlanta people and I hate to sound so bitter about it but these things seem to be par for the course with him.

/-- Dude has been touring since 1979 and you can count the cancel dates state side on one hand. Should buckle down and just set up tour dates maybe but at these prices and the nature of the performances he might be trying to hedge his bets least a full tour bomb a la Janet Jackson. It is better for him to cancel than do the show sick and give a half ass performance.

It's been an real nasty flu bug going around the entire United States this year. Everyone in my family, (myself included) and most of my friends had either the flu or pneumonia this year. Hope Prince gets well soon.

Uh he's SICK! Prince is not Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, or Janet Jackson. He didn't want to come on stage sick and his voice be terrible and he most definitely isn't going to do anything prerecorded. He is a true artist! Prince has been doing his shows and he hardly gets sick or cancels shows and I believe he will reschedule the shows unlike the ones listed above. The only recent shows I know he canceled was the Paris shows and as we all saw on the news it was for good reason. I'm defending Prince on this like you Janet fans like to defend her even in her bullshit.

Yup, both ATL shows were sold out in advance, whereas Montreal still had tickets available the day of the show a few weeks ago - and it was NOT cancelled. So I think your theory doesn't make sense.

In that case I should apologize too and it was an angry post, but not a stupid one. I posted my comment because I even heard that Prince was disappointed and upset that he had to cancel the shows. Let's just hope him a speedy recovery and that the shows will be rescheduled soon and hopefully it will be on dates that agree to their schedules. biggrin
