Sorry, as a vocalist myself and a frequent concertgoer, it just struck me as a bit odd. But I suppose my obsession about it is pretty odd too.

If I was Prince i'd be jumping off the stage to, to stretch out and have a drink of water. Even though he's not dancing around like back in the day's he's been playing Hendrix drenched version's of his song's or bringing in horn's and throwing the funk in for set's that range from 1hr 30m - damn near 2 1/2 - 3hr's standing up & running off and on stage. I play music and i know being behind a piano is a awkward position and can border on painful on your back/leg's/fingers, so he probably trying to stretch out & at the same time keep those pipe's hydrated (b/c singing alone nevermind w/ that much emotion would give you cotton mouth and hit your body).
I ALSO NO SOME OF THE SHOW WAS RECORDED. At Houlihan's get together I was talking w/ a few of the people I met from the night before that said i should go over for the lunch meeting. While I was there I as saying to a few people I was so close to trying to record the show via cell just for a mementoto to remember esp for Baby, Dirty Mind, Dorothy, Unchain My Heart, Condition/Heart, Paisley P, etc (it's annoying writing note's to help remember highlight's while trying to enjoy the show). But I said I also wasen't trying to get kicked out / possibly banned from the w/kend or PP (you never know). Anyway's I excused myself and while at the Urinal a guy I was talking w/ some and came in and said "you alone in here"? I'm like yup but not sure if i'mma wanna hear what the next question is...

This concert has so many of my favourites, I wish I had seen it. Sounds like the perfect setup for Prince and the publicity has been tremendous... Tiny overheads... A decent tour makes perfect sense on so many levels... Cmon Princey!

So can anyone elaborate on "Dirty Mind" - he played the whole song in its original form (piano and mic, I know)? Or did he do a JW-friendly version? Thanks!

I saw El perform last year. His voice is still intact. He can still hit all those notes. He sounds better than ever. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Definitely a shell. The piano was still on the stage Saturday night, but the keyboard had been taken out. TRUE BLUE

Sounds like a great concert! I don't want to be picky but since he talked so much about his father it might have been nice to play 'Father's Song'. Also, I wonder if he would consider doing a tour in which the first half is just him and a piano and the second half is just him and a guitar. Or maybe he could play 1 song on both instruments (not at the same time, obviously)!

I saw Stanley Jordan with one hand playing piano and the other playing his guitar. It was amazing. Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing

If you have not seen the show yet, do not listen to the bootleg. Take my advice, resist the temptation. It does not do the show justice and it will ruin it for you once you do see the show. I went into the show completely blind and I literally had my hand on my mouth most of the time in disbelief as to the historic performance that I was witnessing.
On a side note, the only thing that would have made the experience even more perfect for me is if he had done Moonbeam Levels.

Yeah saw him at The Townshend aftershow in SF in 97. He came out with his white NPG parka on & the gold symbol guitar slung over his shoulder & started to play the ride on both guitar & keys. Good stuff

The bootleg is out there..... All I can say is WOW. |

There are already recordings out there, but they're not great quality. Still, it sounds like a wonderful show. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I'm shocked but also seen it out there already, That was fast.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It doesn't matter. No one will ever be able to see that show again because it is gone. Even if he does the same setlist at a future show, it will largely be different. We know all the songs, so why not listen to the boot?
I'm sick that I missed the show in person but nothing can change that and will just try to get some enjoyment from the recording. I'm happy for Prince and for all of you that you were all there.

One question--are both shows out there? Because I've only seen show 2 so far, and (as pleased as I am to have found it) show 1 is the one I really want to hear.

. Au contraire! There is mic rubbing, the music/noise ratio is not too high, there are idiots near the taper, P is losing his voice and does not sing all words (e.g. Dirty Mind). Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
