"Peace to David Bowie. I only met him once, but he was really nice to me. Seems like he was that way with everybody. Just wanted to say that."
- Prince

One more tidbit to this - he was in the middle of performing Free when he said this. He looked as if he was about to tear up a bit, stopped playing, said the above, and finally continued the song again.

It was a really nice moment.

this may seem like a dumb question. did he walk through the crowd to get to the stage and leaving. i ask because the door he usually uses is way on the other side of the soundstage.........

The giant doors with the glyph on them that go into the the L4OA/NPG Music Club room were right behind the stage. Before he came out and before he left quite a bit of fog from the fog mahcine swirled up and those doors opened slowly and out he came/back he went.

Close, but it's missing a few and this cuts off before the end. I have a bad memory for specifics so I never write setlists, but there was also Paisley Park (a songalong), The Breakdown (utterly amazing performance - vocals were downright perfect and throughout the crowd was in silent awe), Rock n Roll Love Affair, and he closed out with Annastesia. I think there's another song or two I'm forgetting...

These shows sound like my dream Prince concerts. Just the man, his talent, and an amazing set list (well, TWO!). I'm so jealous of everyone who was there.

How Come You Don't Call me was a tease; it was a bar or two of the opening and he moved on.

We're also missing Dorothey Parker...

Great review by Jon Bream. It really sounds like it was a unique evening, and one in which each song held some special significance for him. Something to ponder when we get the confirmed setlist.

Yeah I was thinking that as well smile

I would assume that the song listed as "What Are We Gonna Do?" is actually "Baby" is that correct?

Anyway these sound like amazing concerts, very glad that he's doing this, hopefully he'll tour with this format in the not too distant future.

I knew this would be a night to remember.... too bad I couldn't make it.

Does that mean we'll never hear it? see it? Is there anyway P could offer this to those of us who were unable to venture to PP? I miss the old NPGMC monthly releases... Ahdio? this would be a perfect Ahdio release...

Desperate is the day that is tommorrow.... for those who do not know, the time has come...

I've seen him over 20 times and never saw him perform The Love We make... sad

ps... nice to hear is kind words of peace for David Bowie...

Enjoy the shows,

G

It was a really nice moment.

I have my own theory about the timing of this - hopefully people won't get upset - just a theory but I was standing very close in the corner right behind him facing the piano keys when it happened.

I think there were a few times in the show where he was having problems remembering lyrics and placement in some of the songs. This was an incredible amount of music to perform by one person and as he said a few times during the night "I have never done this before".

I noticed during Free it looked as though he was trying to remember a part right or a lyric at that moment - some words came out that did not make sense then he stopped and made the Bowie comments.

I have no doubt that what he said about Bowie was genuine so let me say that - I just think he was trying to gather himself both musically and emotionally at that moment and that was what came out. Honestly I am very glad it happened! Just a theory...

Honestly, hearing all of this with only him and piano gave these songs the perfect something new to keep them interesting even for cynical old fans. It was an incredibly emotional atmosphere/evening altogether.

Normally Raspberry Beret is my cue to hit the restroom but with his fun story about Lisa as he worked his way into it, it was lovely.

Sometimes it Snows in April actually had tears coming down my face, and I've heard him play that a million times.

Prince is only human after all. He is getting older. Let us cherish every minute that he is still with us. He keeps forgetting song lyrics. So what? I do not care.
He could sing numbers from the telephone book for me biggrin

Mostly. A few may have lopped off a bridge or ended without an extended outro but others meandered while he told stories before, during and after. None had a "medley" feel to them at all.

I believe How Come You Don't Call Me was the only true tease, other than he teased Dorothy Parker, played something else and came back and played it in full later.

Sounds like they were fantastic shows! So happy for those of u that got to go. Did anyone who was there notice if it was being filmed? Would love for him to release as a video or soundboard - but if he doesn't how lucky you folk were - sounds good me like one of those truly magical nights where God was present. Great reviews everyone. Thank you. Buzzin off your positive vibes!
