He has to take this on a worldwide tour, and I think he will, eventually. He would make a killing financially so fingers crossed that will sway him.

The set lists were insane! There were a few songs that were played at both, but the majority were different. I was pleasanlty surprised with the amount of new songs, like Baltimore, Rocknroll Loveaffair, Look At Me, Look At you, Free Urself, and 1000 Hugs and Kisses. No snippets of songs, full versions. The Ladder was on the top of my list for songs I wanted to hear, and he played it during the second show. Purple Rain was great on piano. He played that at the second show. I'll leave it to someone else to post complete set lists.

Just came from both shows...very different shows and themes as everyone said 1st show was a chronology of his life and evolution as a musician...the very beginning of the first show was hard to interpret sound effects etc simulating his early consciousness...he spoke of being then 3 years old and everything seeming big especially the piano

He then went on to talk about his father leaving at age 7 and he went into batman the first song he ever learned...it went on from there...too much to post right now exhausted!

He gave props to David Bowie and Lisa and Wendy and told the story of Lisa composing the melody of raspberry beret on a harpsichord

First show was by far more introspective more anecdotes etc second show was higher energy and more about fun...combine them both as some of us were lucky enough to do and it was an incredible night

More later...need some sleep!

Prince talked about Lisa coming to Minneapolis to audition and how she wouldn't look him in the eyes. He said he told his manager he didn't think it was going to work out. Then he heard her downstairs playing piano and the rest is history. He said Lisa didn't write Rasberry Beret, but she wrote the hook. Nice to hear him give her some props.

There's no such brigrade. That's just pushback from the trolls who claim Prince was only good around Wendy & Lisa...Most people dig the contributions they made to Prince's music....It's the constant trolling that people take offense to...

That's so cool! she's told the same story from her perspective:

When I first went to Minneapolis to meet prince and stay for what I thought would be just a few months, Prince picked me up at the airport. I walked off the plane... it was June. It was warm and a little humid. Prince was waiting for me. I could see him talking on a payphone... remember those? They were all over the place in the 80's... in fact i think it was 1980. I found out later that he was on the phone with his girlfriend, Kim, telling her what I looked like and what I was wearing... anyway... he picked me up and drove me in his little FIAT to his house in WAYZATA. He took the back roads and showed me the countryside. It was really beautiful, train tracks and long views. This was Minnesota alright!

I lit a cigarette, which I can't believe now when I think of it because he hates smoking! But he let me smoke in his car. He was very polite. We were both VERY QUIET and shy. It was pretty sweet actually. Lots of nervous smiles back and forth. We got to his house and he pointed to the piano at the bottom of the stairs. I went and played while he went to make us some tea. I knew he would hear me so I tried to act like I was casually playing the hardest Mozart piece I knew. Kim told me later that he was standing at the top of the stairs wide eyed and excited. "She's better than I thought!"... ok so... that was my first day meeting him.

This format sounds like the best idea in the world for him.

With his last four albums he had an unusual dose of his usual strategy of displaying his stylistic reach through multiple types of arrangements but the world has come to expect no less and much more of him.

Pushing aside all the wares to go back to his original instrument, opening up in a personal way and getting intimate all of a sudden in a completely stripped down setting is an excellent way to show just how great his music is and will remain.

Take it on the road please!

The pro-Wendy & Lisa brigade will do the same. "See? He can't write a good song without them!" I'm not going to join that debate. I just enjoy reading the reports & hope he'll take this to Europe as promised. Looks like a welcome change from the greatest hits concerts.

this may seem like a dumb question. did he walk through the crowd to get to the stage and leaving. i ask because the door he usually uses is way on the other side of the soundstage.........

Original venues from the tour that he pulled would be good (likely difficulty getting tickets notwithstanding).

What a set-list that is. If only he'd sell a soundboard of this show. The hard-core fans would happily buy it and it would be critically acclaimed for the uniqueness of it. Lets also hope he tours with this..

Can you say something about the arrangements? Some of these songs are hard to imagine played only on piano.
