Mods, it seems it might be ok to post now? Not trying to ruffle feathers but since the doc posted it along with official pics.....

Better be careful...do you have permission to talk about it yet? After all, if this site doesn't behave itself, Prince might not continue to deliver all the breaking news & hot exclusives like he has over the years. rolleyes

The thing is, this is supposed to raise awareness for autism. How the hell is that supposed to happen if he doesn't want anyone to know about it?

What would be good was if Prince sold the recording of the show online and gave all the proceeds to teh autism charity. That would raise some awareness.

My thoughts exactly. I have no problem with Prince doing a charity gig and not wanting thousands of screaming fans around but did the celebs there donate any more than their entry fee? How much did the gig actually raise? Does Prince really dislike his (mere mortal) fans so much that he doesn't want them at his shows? Even worse, he doesn't even want us 'mere mortals' to discuss it!

Using proper PR techniques Prince could convince thousands of fans to support the charity. I salute anyone for raising money (and awareness) for charity but this isn't the way to do it. As it stands right now I'll put my money elsewhere other than Autism Rocks and thats a shame.

Oh and geez...even those on the org who kindly posted the setlist had their posts deleted. What was to be gained by doing that?????????????

I don't like all the bitchin on the org but honestly.....sometimes the man asks for it.

How ridiculous. So rather than raise awareness of autism with several thousand people, keep it secret and just raise awareness with a few hundred that attended. Great strategy.

And who amongst the Org police stopped any reporting on it on the org, even though the secret was leaked? What law states something cannot be reported on until it is made official? Leaks are reported on all the time by the media.

Fucking Org. Its just nonsense. Not being able to post links to bootlegs is one thing, but squashing links to YouTube and news leaks is another thing entirely. Have none of the mods got any balls left at all? Prince aint going to shut the site down for not keeping his silly little secret. He has no grounds for that at all.

Why are you a fan if all you do is whinge about him? The gig isn't meant to raise awareness its aim was to raise money...he did the gig but getting slated for it???? Why????? Am I detecting a jealous fan who didn't get to go because he couldn't afford to go???? Bet you didn't give money to autism rocks?????

My understanding is that it was Autism Rocks that requested the secrecy and asked for the posts to be removed, not Prince. The charity were apparently concerned there would be crowd control issues on the street outside the venue (that we experienced last year) and that it might disrupt the gig.

There were a limited number of tickets available to the public a few weeks ago. However, I don't think this was a 'celebrity only' gig or that Prince organised the guest list - the charity did. Obviously, they have their own strategies about how to raise awareness for themselves.

It is the charity that would have arranged the PR techniques, not Prince. Ditto for the guest list and circulation of tickets. Prince just plays the free gigs. Apparently, it seems, Prince is even criticised when he's working for charity. He can't fucking win.

The problem isn't Prince or Autism Rocks for not wanting a roadblock. Its the Org for not having the balls to say "Its leaked so we will report it". Can we have an official response please?

Even the band are retweeting what people are saying about it on twitter. If it's private, I get not posting about it beforhand, but not afterwards.

I am not attacking prince, i am questioning the charity. If they would like to post on here a response to some of the points made, that would be good. But dont hide behind the charity name, in order to have a free run to do or demand what they want.

yeahthat see this pisses me off, often I find charity gigs like this just an excuse for a celebrity get together rather than actually supporting it's cause. Also why did the thread from 'concerts' get deleted when the gig has already happened???

Okay....my mistake. I should have said 'using proper PR techniques Austism Rocks could convince thousands of fans to support the charity'. As it is, they haven't interested me in the slightest. I applaud Prince for doing the gig but I know that so much more could have been acheived (not necessarily Prince's fault). Oh...and do we know for definate that he played for free?

This whole thing is bloody ridiculous. I work with various charities and raising awareness by keeping things secret is just daft.

A friend of mine got a ticket. It wasn't just celebs and it wasn't just for people with deep pockets. It was for people who knew people, simple as that. After all, tickets for Lenny last year were going for pocket change.

The thing about people queuing on the streets is also an excuse imo.

Why not tell the world about it, so that Autism Rocks gets some full on publicity?

It's not that difficult ffs.

Yes that's true. Queueing was only a problem last year because of the stupid pay on the door policy. This was ticketed so people wouldn't be turning up to queue without a ticket.

I was wondering why nobody was talking about it here. Is this a first for the Org? No discussing a gig?! Preposterous.

Also have to mention the quote in the Guardian "He has that rare confidence of someone who knows in his bones that he’s the best at what he does, a confidence that passes through arrogance and arrives at a state of sheer joy". Just perfect.

That set list is definitely delivering the hits, giving them what the crowd wants- makes sense- no "Art Official Cage" to be heard---

But the material is certainly leaning toward "Revolution" songs, eh? Must be on his mind-

Well, except for Funknroll, U Know, The Gold Standard and The Breakdown. So apart from nearly half the album being acknowledged there was nothing from AOA.
