What I really don't understand is how bad the sound is. It is way too loud. I have seen Pearl Jam and Muse in the Ziggo Dome. They sounded way better than Prince. I saw people leaving because of the sound.

Yep. always bring your earplugs for a Prince concert. Always to loud.

So are you suggesting that because YOU like them that everyone else should?

Well, he also keeps referring to 1982 when introducing She's Always in My Hair...(unless it's when he actually recorded it and we don't know...)

I think 3rdeyegirl isn't that tight when it comes to the Hits and Funk. (First block of the concert) Controversy for example was way up tighter with NPG.
In my opinion his tightest band was with Renato Neto, Rhonda Smith and John Blackwell.
But the rock made by 3rdeyegirl made me hungry to see this tour. I was really curious and that's a good thing Prince has created with this band. Cuz after North sea jazz I was hungry for more rock and more guitar.
I read all the love for Hannah on Twitter last days, so I was curious about her. She is not bad, but in my opinion not outstanding or extremly amazing. Ida, solid as ever. Till yesterday I was critical about Donna, but I loved her the most.
She really surprised me, cool to see Prince working hard with her on solo's. She adds something new, COOL.
3rdeyegirl is very strong on the new songs en reloaded Hits. Also great to hear Prince sing full songs on Piano again. I was very happy with the new rock songs and amount of full lenght slow songs. The love we make, Little red covette, Nothing Compares, Something in the watter, How come U don't call me in full lenght. I could never take the place (slowed down like let's go crazy) was one of my highlights.
My Conclusion : Prince gave us all. Hits, rareties, he jumped over for bass and piano during songs, went crazy during What's my name, and al lot of ROCK. He keeps changing, keeps amazing, he's a genius

After hearing and reading the great reviews this tour received in England I was excited to see him yet again. I was very disappointed. The sound was afwul. The hits section (first hour) was way too messy. 3rdEyeGirl is nof funk-band. After that it got slightly better. The best songs (to me) were Guitar, The love we make, Nothing compares 2 u, Purple rain and the piano set. I don't get the reason behind this tour. It's not to promote Plectrum Electrum (why no Breakdown?) or the upcoming Purple Rain reissue. Playing the same old hits yet again is nice for the people that don't see hem that often. For me, I'm getting tired to hear Take me with u (afwul version), Rapsberry beret, Controversy, etc in substandard versions. Last year at the Paradiso I was blown away, but this show never got close to that. The Paradiso show had focus, energy, it had and served a purpose. I doubt if Plectrum Electrum will ever see the light of day. I got the feeling that Prince has grown tired of the 3rdEyeGirl setup. He wants to funk now, and that's not what this band is about. Just my two cents. Have tickets for Antwerp and am going. Hopefully I can take everything back I stated in this message. [Edited 5/26/14 2:30am]

Truly a magnificent show. A good balance between hits and lesser known stuff (to the casual fan). Indeed, a Prince maybe not as playful as we sometimes see him, but still very 'into it'. Even the songs we heard so many times before got full, very solid renditions, few were cut off short. And that voice, Nothing compares, Beautiful ones, How come u don't call me, Corvette, Purple Rain (There IS something with this song, Prince!), Something in the Water... just flawless and so intense! This should have been recorded for a live album. I loved the fact that he wasn't all guitar, also lots of piano and bass playing. And no real sampler set. Sign of the Times and Hot Thing were samples mixed with the band, very funky! We got four Plectrum-tracks. Not really sure if the main crowd liked them, but they rocked! But why play the Breakdown in full just before the show, while he could have done it live? Well, it's Prince, I guess.

Yes, prince was very much into the funk. That was also 'advertised' at the beginning of the show at the curtain. Wonder what will happen after this tour ends in Antwerp. New band, new record? Have fun in Antwerp!

I don't think u should compare Paradiso to a 17.000 people concert......

I think this tour is to say goodbye to Europe. Like he said: we have to come to him now.

It was the same thing on NSJ in 2011 on the first night. I was also very dissapointed with the concert. I have a GC ticket for Antwerpen, but I think I will sell it. I am just not into "greatest hits shows" even if the song are played with a differnt arrangement. I should have stopped going after Paradiso last year and the 3 shows at NSJ !

Arena shows are of course something different from small scale shows en specialities like NSJ.
I must say, when Prince started Guitar in Amsterdam i immediatly went back down memory lane to the Indigo.... That was special. But seeing prince live keeps being special. It can't be compared to any other concert IMO.

Interesting to see if he will really stop touring (in Europe).... More time to oversee all the remasters!

I had a great time, but indeed on some of the songs, sound was too distorted. I think it's great that at almost 56, he can still pull this off like this. 2,5 hours show, is something else these days, wher all concerts seem to be timed at 75 minutes.
i would love to hear it again......where is dabang when you need him most

2,5 hours of Prince without background choir or stupid dancing girls to detect from him (only one). Prince with only one clothes change. Always present on stage. No long stupid solos from background singers. Prince a musician who only needs a keyboard and that clear fabulous voice to make 17.000 people scream and sing. I call this PURE HEAVEN. Enough to be grateful. He is still stretching and trying new things. Some I like. Some I don`t. But I will always come back for those shivers that only he can do when he does it.

Couldn't describe it any better. Exactly how it was. Prince his voice was in top condition, he danced a lot, made jokes and was most off all very focussed. Loud, raw and funky. this was Paradiso XXL...with a little touch of the hits button.

Exactly the same for me!
I like the fact that Prince finally has an entire new band. even when this band maybe will stay for 3 years, i don't mind. it inspires him. i guess playing the hits for him feels fresh now because of the band, playing it with new people. of course you can't like every new thing he will do. but at least better than him doing the same thing and having the same band for 10 years or something..

I love Prince concerts but the sound issue was bad in San Francisco this year. Even with earplugs, it hurt. It marred a beautiful show. Next time, I will have to devise something stronger than one eraplug but it should not be that way. I worry about having permanent damage. Philmoreliz

I was there in Dortmund. I still got my '88 ticket. Before that I was in Rotterdam as well. Great show!

I saw Prince's concert during North Sea Jazz Curacao/ Caribbean Edition: august 2013. He had 12 horns. And he played his hits and... Michael Jackon's hits. No hard rock. Funny. The Amsterdam show was different. So did all his shows!
