À bit dissapointed, the sound of the band aint my cup of tea. At some moments i thought i was at à hard-rock concert. GelreDome 2010 was beter.

I don't like that band either, don't like their sound and don't like their songs, I mean the new Prince songs. It's just sounds like noise if you ask me lol But at least, when performing in the arenas, he is doing the classics

Just got home ; don't know what to think ...

first , the Hits were great, I like the sound 3rdEye girl produces on these songs

Their own songs however are too loud and lack melody. Crap songs they are

Highlights was definately ''The Love We Make''

Just a quick report cause this girl needs some sleep!
Show was really tight, ziggodome sound is awesome, audience big thumbs up for keeping the phones in the pocket and actually be part of the show. Prince looked amazing, it was all about him. Highlights for me where I could never..and What's my name. Loved that he did an big crowd pleasing stadium hits show but in a very stripped down intimate way. My seats in section 111 were fantastic! Truly a great show, thank you again mister funk! And I hold you to that invitation at your house wink

Yesterday I had a good view over the stage and the mixing desk where Joshua was stationed all night.

The info sites mention him as dance (on stage) but he wasn't on stage.

He played along with keys, purplerain outro violins and many sounds stabs and effects.

From what I could see he had a lot to do behind the scenes with adding extra layering and things regarding sound. He almost looked a digital puppeteer.

He was jumping and enjoying his PA mixes before the main show and did seem to control the overall sound, soundlevels and quality.

I got a feel that his influence is much larger than given account for.

^ got only 3 hours of sleep before getting to work so forgive me when it all sounds a bit shaky. lol

SideQuestion... With Larry a bit in the limelight... is there a ford/welton dynasty in Paisley Park since late 2012 or is Prince still in control and holding Plectrum Electrum high in his hands to get some puppies along for the ride.

For me the big plus was: Looooong versions (or better: full) of hits. I have heard all these songs a Zillion times in past tours but sometimes you may feel you tend to forget the words of the second verse. Also big plus: no useless covers. If i had to name one negative it would be that he seems to forget that he made some really good songs in the 90ties.

I liked the reference to filiming the SOTT movie in Holland. (Prince forgot if it was 87 or 88, that's allright. 87 was the movie, 88 was Dortmund live, the latter with Dutch fans as well wink )

It was quite amazing to see Prince perform in such a big venue from up close. He had very little eye contact with the crowd, but seemed to be in a good mood. He didn't seem to enjoy himself as much as I have experienced before. He seemed more concentrated and focussed on his performance than relaxed and enjoying himself.

Didn't the words duing Purple Rain sound like a goodbye to Holland? From my memory:

We were out here in 86/87 and we recorded a little movie called Sign Of The Times. I have always come to your house, but now it is time you come to mine. When you are in my house we will eat together, drink together, make music together, sleep together. My house, our house is called Paisley Park. If you don't know how to get there ask somebody, they will help you.

Sorry if I messed up the quote, too little sleep.

Some technical things I noticed that went wrong: the transmitter from one of his guitars kept falling out of it's holder on the strap. Prince seemed annoyed but not really pissed about it. One of the smoke guns (to right of center stage) failed. A tech fixed it from behind (below the stage) but didn't secure it properly. The next time it fired, it fell and started blowing smoke on the cloth that was wrapped around the stage. The cloth turned from black to white very quickly.

Also, I can't remember which songs exactly, but I had the feeling Prince messed up the beginning of the second verse of some songs. The crowed saved him and he recovered quickly. Very strange to see.

If im correct he said 86 or 87. Kinda weird he didnt remember exactly when SOTT was filmed. It's the second time he brought this up. During the ONA tour in Rotterdam, he said SOTT was filmed here (Ahoy)

Anyway, highlights for me in ZiggoDome, SOTT and Hot Thing. Although the audience went wild, 1999 didnt have that ''party-feel'', just because of the band. His current band is limited. As for P himself, again he proved to be one of the greatest performers.

GREAT show. Of course he played a lot of hits that all of the die hard fans have heard a dozen times already, but you cannot expect otherwise when your playing for 17.000 people.... 'Something in the water ...' was wonderful. His voice is incredible. Felt there was a lot of love between him and the crowd..... 'What's my name' - cool!

The only thing that really really annoys me is that girl (Marissa?) doing something close to nothing.... fortunately she sat on the couch on the side of the stage most of the time...

Bass solo was a highlight 4 me as well...

Ok, i remembered wrong. But indeed strange. he should know, such an album, such a tour. That was 1987 allright.

Cosign on the 1999 experience. should have been more party-like. Prince sure tried.....
