Is 'Hit and Run' over ?

Lots of rumours on twitter today, that Prince is heading home today. Did Prince say anything on stage last night that gave any indication on what his plans may be?

so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

God, I hope not!! sad Couldn't make SBE, couldn't get to Koko as the trains were down from my station, couldn't afford to do Manchester....was pining my hopes on Brixton....

/

Reading a post on the Manchester thread apparently P said something like "we're gonna take a break now, get the album out, but we'll be back" ...whether that means a few days and Brixton or a few months and Hyde Park (both would be nice!)....who knows...

I can't afford to go again so , selfishly, I'm not too fussed.

I think, judging by the reports my gig (KOKO first show) was probably the worst value for money on the tour so far (£70 for 90 minutes and the 'basic' set list) and I think until they set out a proper structure it's alwAys going to be a lucky dip. The main problem for me has been the insistence on trying to squeeze 2 shows out of an evening...the first show and usually those who queue the longest are alwAys booted out 'early' once all of the boxes have been ticket and those who rock up later get the maximum possible time with a lot if rarities thrown in

It was exciting, I enjoyed the thrill of the chase...but this represents the most expensive and shortest Prince show of my time seeing him.

This break is soooo Prince.

He was in the UK to celebrate the release of 'the album'.

He would be there for a month or whatever they mentioned.

He arrives at the second city and after two nights he bails out.

Because he was well organised?

Because somethign happend outside of his control?

Please explain them backgrounds here.

The original plan was too play London in Iconic Venues, it was never announced to goto Manchester until last week, so with Prince, you have to see, as plans are not necessarily what happens.

I think he enjoys being unplanned and doing as he likes, long planned tours etc must wear you down and take the 'edge' off, maybe that's why the gigs have been so good and he appears happy, smaller venues at short notice appear to give him the mojo.

I think it's over for now, album next, then maybe more gigs.

Just being picky but isn't Birmingham the so called "second city"?

He said roughly, 'we are going to take a break and put out this album but we will be back soon. I want to see you again here soon'.

I interpretted this as they are going home for a while and there won't be any shows for a while. I thought it meant hit and run was over. My friends didn't get this impression though.

Who knows? Album could come out tomorrow and he could pop up in Brixton next weekend? Or he comes back in a few weeks with some bigger shows?

A break could be a few days or a few weeks. The statement coulda been specific to Manchester as well.

What I have noticed that all the Tweets around P today seem to suggest and accept this is it for the Uk just now though.

Ya know he could wake up tomorrow and say, what the heck i fancy playin a few more shows in London.

Just when everyone is wrappin up, a bit like at Ronnie Scott's - the guitars left the stage and were ushered back.

Haha, what I thought he said last night was 'we're gonna take break, put on (not 'out') the album and we'll be back soon.' So I was expecting them to go backstage, play the album over the PA and then they'd be back on stage. I obviously misheard him lol

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

...think it's meant in the context of a second city in the uk rather than definitively "the" second city....which, historically anyway, would be Glasgow😀

I'm very surprised. I thought he would stay longer. Could it be they need to go to the studio to put some finishing touches on the album or do more recording?????? confused confused confused

God I hope so. Does this mean I can stop checking the org. every 5 mins and reading absolute nonsense on twitter. Please Prince, get some decent management and come back with the basics like tour dates and tickets! Had tickets in me basket for Sat at manchester only for me phone to crash, and the rest is history. Reading the reports of the show make me feel even sicker I missed it. Genuinley happy tho for those that went to amazing lengths to get to these shows. well played.

Can't help but feel the messages that show on the end of the Let's go crazy machester video feels like the end...

Kind of sad that it's over

But

kind of glad if it is as I would be scraping the bottom of the barrell if any more shows appear and I can get back to normality...

Definitely got my fix with Electric Ballroom 2 and KOKO 2 (BOTH INCREDIBLE SHOWS THANK YOU GUYS)

Would be great if there was some plans for the summer though like the highly unlikely Hyde Park gigs with NPG on board!

Felt the same depression at the end of 21 nights..
I know I got extremely lucky and I did very well regarding this tour though. I only queued for about an hour total and saw 4 hours 45 min of incredible live shows for just £20 - that is insane! Including seeing the last song of KOKO which I'm now really pleased about as it will stay in my memory my total is up to 19 Prince gigs.... Now ready for the Hyde Park announcement..... And some horns eek

Mixed feelings if he has gone home...

confused

For one, I WOULD spend more money to see him if he played London again...

biggrin

But, I know I SHOULDN'T spend more money...

sad

His music can feed my ears, my heart & my soul but leave me very little to feed my stomach!!!

There is still a very suspicious hole in Brixton's schedules over the next week and a half, then the rest of the month is pretty much fully booked. I expect it's because they tried to negotiate something, for some reason it fell through, and they have actually left, but part of me just hopes his "We're leaving" speech is like all those times he says "London, goodnight!" in a gig, then comes back on.

Long shot, but anyone know how I could get a message of thanks 2 the techies? One in particular was super nice 2 me & my hubby but we didn't get a chance 2 thank him properly.

Not sure of his name as it was all a blur, but he did give me his pass park look at & it was no. 33.

I know probably a pointless question, but I'd love 2 B able 2 let him know what a super cool dude he was.

So that's the 'new' PR: tweeing whatever comes around.

Not so much a 'manager' in different aspects.

I doubt she even recognises that the break in the schedule is also a break in what was said before.

A broken promise, so to say.
