I do feel if there are two shows a night it will be ok getting into the second one . 70 pound will scare a lot of people off. I am intending coming over late afternoon, having a few beers and seeing what the score is for the first show. If it looks too busy, will go To the pub and get in queue about 930 for second show. I don't mind queuing for an hour or so, but this all day queuing is not for me. And I am old school going back to being a big fan in the 80's.

The whole non ticket situation could have been handled better and I ain't jumping to these rules.

Good luck to all those who get there early, I hope you get great spots in the gig and maybe even in the second one too.

I don't think it will be too bad. The pissed casuals are not going to pay 70 pound.

If have venue holds 1500 or more and there are two shows I reckon it could be fine, particularly for second show

I think the Manchester gigs are going to be MUCH busier than the London gigs.

It wont just people people from Manchester, or even the North West. It's Cumbria and North Wales, Yorkshire and the North East, and I expect Scotland too (because when did he last play there?)

Even at 2 shows a night... It sounds like for the Entire north of Britan, we've got 2 nights to see the guy or it'll be another 12 years. A venue holding 1200 is big - for a small gig, but not huge.

I saw a tweet from the Albert Hall asking "what would you like to see Prince play" - so it seems almost certain thats the venue people are going to head for. Granted there could be curveball at the last minute but I suspect with only 2 nights given people in Princes camp seem to think the demand is in London. With all due respect to them. I think they're wrong.

Have booked the Holiday Inn Express near MEN for Friday night. Anyone else staying there? Should get to Manchester just after 10am Friday morning so will watch this space for where to be. For anyone who is interested Go Outdoors have camping stools on offer at £2 each. Not sure of the quality but if they last all day I'll be happy. biggrin

i doubt it as people can travel all over to london just as they can to manchester and it's a much bigger city. plus the tour was announced as in and around london rather than a uk tour and with all the shows to date being in london, people were travelling 100s of miles to get there. manchester is much smaller than london so there are much less locals to contend with

if you compare the last time he played manchester, he did 2 nights there compared with 3 in london and an aftershow, and the capacity was just 3500 with plenty of notice, tickets sold in advance and all the other stuff. this time it's short notice and at this minute in time punters don't know where it is. so even if he turns up at the salford lads club it'll be far easier to get in than ronnie scotts

So do we think that a few venues are put on alert pending a personal visit from Prince (or someone he really trusts), once he's happy, he likes it etc then they let the details out, or do you think it is all fully planned and they just hold it back to whenever they feel like it?

hmm well they both sound very plausable for Prince but I'd probably say the first one.

The Albert Halls Bolton tweeted this earlier:

"For all those asking, sorry but we still can't comment about visiting the north this weekend. "

Just noticed this on ITV.com...

"So we know when they're happening but the big question is where?? It's been confirmed that he will perform at small intimate gigs with a crowd of only 180 people!"

Who confirmed that then!?

Bloody scarf around my face if I'm robbing off work early cha! I'll need a tonebox like in the movie barbarella to change my voice!

…as for the Albert hall in bolton - thats like two minutes from where I work , would be amazing if it was there and they just booked the wrong venue! What if they've just booked some bloke called Albert Hall and are going to play actually inside him!

Nothing is confirmed until it comes from Prince's people its a complete non story from ITV, just be patient smile, If he were playing to 180 people they woudlnt have given a weeks notice for people to travel down and be let down.
