3 Nights, 3 Shows, He's back!
After his two previous appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2007 and 2009, Prince is back to give three exceptional concerts on 13, 14 and 15 July 2013.

What on earth is Montreux going to be like?!?!
The way the last few weeks have been, these could be the best gigs EVER!!! Throw in a bit of 3rd Eye Girl at an aftershow & it will be truly insane.
Can't believe the tunes we are going to get in only a few days time. Like many, have suffered the hits (but some incredible after/shows along the way) for the last 6-7 years & ready for a change. I'd give my left nut to have seen a 3rd Eye Girl show, WOW!! As for the Extraloveable Rehearsal, it's on a constant loop!!! a 20 piece band, oh yeah!
Prince has really turned it on it's head right now, whether bandleader or guitar hero, we are going to get some great shows!!!!
See everyone there Saturday!!!!! I can't f@#king wait!!!!!

I'm arriving to the area on Saturday but "only" have tickets for show 2&3 - so if anyone find themselves with a spare ticket for Saturday I'm interested.

^^ Dr f mentioned that in the spreecast yesterday, but he didn't say which concert was which, just recommended going to all three if you can.

Inside the show it was not "meh." Fantastic vibe, great crowd, amazing horns section, very fun. Prince didn't play a single instrument, played bandleader all night, ended 3rd encore with a touching redition of Purple Rain as tribute to the founder of the festival who died recently. Great show, after party starting at 2am. | |

I was at the show, quite close to the stage. Yes, it was a fun show, but great? Not really. Montreux 2009 was way better. I think Prince was really lazy. 20 musicians on stage. He didn't play guitar. Or any other instrument (except percussions, at some point). Yes, his voice can be seen as his main "instrument", but he's 55 and it shows. Also, Shelby J might be nice and all, but I don't need to hear her again in my life. Really. Once in 2007 was enough.
I was told Monday is going to be the "different" night (3rd Eye Girl only?). Can't wait! |
