May 14 - Melbourne - Rod Laver Arena

I was just able to get 2 x $550 tickets for Purple Reserve - the Ultimates were all sold out..... at 1:22 pm there are still VIP tickets in BNE and SYD but Melbourne looks like it is all sold out.

The Melbourne FAMS are hardcore - I recall 5 shows back in 92.

Who else has tickets? where you sitting? biggrin

^I suspect that's also because people coming from Adelaide, Perth & NZ have Melbourne as their target... Don't know why... Brisbane's the place to be cool lol

Brisbane is the palce to be if you want premium tickets as they have some left for all 3 types - Melbourne is limited now to just the $550 pack.

Sydney has no ultimate tickets left - http://www.bookings.showb...lia%20Tour

Tasmania should be renamed West Island and given to New Zealand.

Just checked to see what more dates he could do becuase every concernt will be different (as in 2003)

Every night at Rod Laver is free that week so Tues and maybe Wed could be on too subjet to how long it takes to bump out / bump in for Brisbane on Friday!

so, where's a good place to meet up in Melboing? I'm planning on getting there the Sunday Night after Sydney and leave for Brisbane on Thursday.... I'm really hoping for a Melweg/Melbourne experience on his 'days off'...(I can dream can't I?)

would be cool to catch up with some locals..... and find out where ya'll think he'll do an aftershow...

oh yeah, anyone got a spare couch?

or can advise on a cheap place to stay ie. a good clean hostel not too far away from Rod Laver....

looking at google maps, is Rod Laver walking distance from CBD? (ie within 30 mins or so walking?)

It's only 10 minutes away following the greatly named batman ave that runs down off the south eastern corner of the city blocks. Too easy. It's why I wanted to go to melbourneappolis but being midweek I went for Sydney.

The silly part is, for you to come from Tassie to Melbourne to see the concert, chances are your airfare is going to be cheaper than my taxi fare will be from Rod Laver Arena out to Melbournes South East.

So dont waste anytime, get your Jestar on and come over and get funky. smile

I seem to recall him doing an aftershow in 2003 at The Metro, which is now called The Palace, its at the top end of Bourke Street near Spring Street.

However, if he does end up doing a Tuesday night show in Melbourne, he wont be using this venue Im guessing because Public Enemy are playing there on that night.

The Hifi Bar could be another possibility.

Check the following 3 places out, all offering accomodation from about $30-40 a night for dorm accomodation, and around $100 or so a night if you want your own private room.

www.spencerbackpackers.com.au Corner of Spencer Street and Flinders Street in Melbourne CBD.

www.yha.com.au - Melbourne Central Backpackers Hostel 562 Flinders Street Melbourne CBD

The two above being right on Flinders Street allow you to simply catch the Number 70 tram route to directly to Rod Laver Arena and will probably only take you 5-10 minutes to get there. You could even walk it if you were especially keen, and I would imagine that it would probably be about a 20-25 minute walk or there abouts.

www.urbancentral.com.au is another choice pick. This one is fairly new, has a modern/funky vibe about it, but its downside is that it is located in City Road South Melbourne, which means a little bit more of a walk to get to a tram to Rod Laver. You would basically need to walk up Clarendon Street past the Crown Casino and Exhibition Centre which would be roughly a 10 minute walk, and then catch the Number 70 tram along Flinders Street as per the other two places above. So its a little bit more effort, but not to the point of being completely unmanagable.

I hope Ive been able to provide some suggestions that might suit your needs.

Managed to get a tix for his 2nd show, May 15th. I am in section S16 row C so hopefully near the bottom and close to Princey. Really wanted Brisbane as Melbourne in May is not tropical (Its actually warmer in auckland) but hey its Prince and I would sit on Mt Everest to watch him if I could.

After just about smashing my computer in frustration when 3 attempts to purcase tickets that the website had allocated to me, and then wouldnt allow me to complete a purchase, plus the numerous queues and whatever.....I managed to secure Section 1 Row S tickets (Front Lower Gold view) for the Tuesday night show also. So Im happy with what I got....but shite....it was a battle to get them.

All I hope is that all the genuine fans have managed to get tickets they are happy with, and we dont have to see dozens of tickets on Ebay by Scalpers charging fradulent amounts for tickets.

I so cannot wait for this.

Got tickets to May 30th Show in Melbourne! Gold Section 4, Lower, Row U. Not the greatest but oh well. I am really surprised how expenive his tickets are! Are you guys? I mean I've seen him in the States and back in 2003 and they've always been reasonable - under $120 - for pretty good seats.
