I had an absolute blast tonight. Prince is far better than I ever thought he would be live, and now I can see why people see him again and again and again. The amount of energy that guy exudes is just incredible. Dance Electric really got me moving, especially after listening to it for the last couple of weeks, amazing track, and much better live. Loved it.

Bring on tomorrow night. I'll be dancing my ass off with my new T-Shirt and pendant.

By the way did anyone see the price on the tamborines? $200 eek I thought they were $100 or $150 at the Sydney concerts?

you r right, it said limited edition at the shop. we are gonna party even harder tomorrow night i tell ya.

He been flogging those tambourines for like the last 15 yrs or more. Total rip off. Its just a regular tambourine with a sticker of the symbol on it. After a while the sticker starts to come un-attached. lol

And there were plenty of people buying them, even at $200 a pop. eek No thanks I'll just buy another ticket to the next concert instead.

I really can't believe people are buying the tambourines at that price! I could imagine the merch team sitting down just before the tour...."Let's put them on at $100 and see if anyone buys them"......."Blimey, they did! Let's put them up to $150 for a laugh, see if anyone will buy them at THAT price"......."Oh my days!!!! They did as well. Let's go for $200, ha ha ha ha, I mean come on who would be crazy enough to pay for a tambourine with a sticker on it for $200?!?!?!!?"........

^Not sure, I thought I saw some posters rolled up in one of the merchandise areas but I don't recall see any up on display. I can't be 100% certain.

Just coming back to the crowd - I turned around at one point when the house lights were on and EVERYONE was up out of their seats clapping above their heads, from the floor all the way to the top right around the areana. It was quite an amazing sight. I've never seen that at the Rod Laver Arena before. Then I thought "Prince is the man!"

I guess you did not see 20ten or the 2011-variant.

I did not see this show but from this distance they look so similar while looking at the setlist.

To put my previous post into perspective: Australia has been without Prince for a while.
Europe has had Prince a lot more often in the past few years.
So yes, I can understand that you were blown away.
OTOH, please do understand that there is relatively little variation. It's all old material and 'new' songs are sparse.
Actually: what were the surprises in the setlist?
Delivery can be superb, but still...

yeahthat

I left in bold the tracks that I haven't seen in typical setlists in the past couple of years (I haven't been paying super close attention, so some of these might be common and I just don't know it).

Last night was a pretty special night for my girl who was the lucky woman in the purple jump suit invited to dance on stage...... On the off chance if anyone may have stumbled on a pic or might have an idea how to track one down please let me know.......

Fair to say she is on quite a high today.

Your girl had some great moves. Was she the only person brought up on stage last night? At first I thought she came from the crowd & then when it was just her I thought she was one of princes dancers.

If I find a photo I'll send it through.

MissRuby

That was quite possibly one of the most amazing nights of my life. I have no voice from the screaming and I still can't feel my feet for the dancing. I can now understand those hysterical girls you see in the clips for Elvis, cause that was me last night. Felt like a complete prat but my sheer joy of being could not be contained.

I know some really hardcore fans may have felt cheated by a greatest hits set but you know what, if I am never fortunate enough to see Prince live again I can say that I heard some of his most famous (and in some cases my most favourite, ICNTTPOYM!)songs. Walking out I said to my hubby I can die happy having witnessed Purple Rain live.

I just wish I could have stuck around for tonight to do it all again but alas I have a job I need to tend to back in Perth.

Btw, did anyone get the full monologue he did towards the end? It really touched me and i'd love to print it and stick it up on my desk at work.

Edutainment

I just flew home to Adelaide after having no sleep since 3pm Sunday afternoon and witnessing a fantastic show

This was easiest the best concert Id been to. The crowd in Melbourne should be congratulated for their efforts.

Ok couple of people had some questions i noticed.

According to my Mobile phone it was 8:27 when the lights wen't out, But alas it was a cheeky game for those that were in attendance will know exactly what that means.

Also someone asked regarding posters. There was a caravan outside the arena on the Lawn selling Merchandise. I got talking to the lady and she said they had been opened since 4:30pm. The had posters for sale on the right hand side rolled up and some were on display on the right side wall.

There is a Female Purple tshirt available that seemed to sell well as well as the program. I saw a lot of people with that.

Purple Hoodies were sold out entirely ,both here and at the 2 stalls i tried for inside too - much to my fiances dissapointment. I got there around 7:30pm from memory.

Any other questions I can answer id be only too happy, do my best to answer.

Sad Im not in Melbourne for the 2nd show however Im flying up to Brisbane next Week from Adelaide for their 2nd show . A tough act to follow but you never know. Hoping to get Controversy at that show as its the only other track i was hoping for apart from Planet Earth which is HIGHLY unlikely.

Brilliant Prince , such a happy happy environment a real pleasure to have been.
