Sydney May 11th 2012 - Allphones Arena

Absolutley fantastic performance !

Prince has still got it, SMF, loved it all.

Great show , REAL MUSIC , what a legend !

My sons loved him and said he was "awesome" - makes me smile,it's great to prove how much talent Prince has to them.

Prince launched into "Gold" after acoustic session with Mr McKee of "Purple Rain - part", which I was suprised about as I thought maybe "1999" would have been the one, but was great as well.

Allphones said no photos or videos/phones because of request by Prince and that they would confiscate them , but they can't control it like that with everyone having cameras on phones now.....

Thanks very much Prince, please come back to Australia sooner than later next time - too long inbetween for us real fans....

xxxxx

Can anyone discuss the quality of the merchandise - what are the t-shirts like in person and the hoodies?

Thanks

As far as the shirts go, they are made by a company called Gildan which make merch for other artists and are of good quality fabric-wise. The actual printing on the shirts however is questionable, not bad per se but not great either, surprising actually when you consider the price (AU$50) and whose name they bare.

Despite the price of the tamborines (AU$100), they are made by a company called REMO who make professional drum skins, etc. and are of high quality. Read: a real instrument, not a toy.

Lastly, if you go to the counter and an item is "sold out", make sure to scan the other merch stands as they are often supplied with what you're after (happened to me with the tamborine, be persistent!)

Merchandice at Melbourne tonight was dissapointing - they were selling the tambourine for $200 and beret for $75.

Also did not see the posters on sale.

Guitar picks were $20

Hits / B Sides $40

Posters were there for $10 each. I bought a few as they were so cheap.
But yes, the tambourine price hike was a complete joke.

The hoodie is pretty steep at $100. eek Too bad they didn't have any on sale at the W2America shows... But the Aussie program book is only $20.00. I just might get that...

Will the tambourine be $300 by the time it gets to Brisbane?

Did the price of the shirts go up from $50?

Have to admit I bought my Tambourine back in the 3121 shows. It's a nice keepsake - but not at $200 or $300.

Selling it at the shows is a mixed blessing as you end up with a throng of people with no rhythm clanking along with the songs.

Shirts were $50 in Melbourne.. Couldn't believe the dinky tamborines were $200 now.

Tour book was cool for 20 clams.

That price hike sucks. $100 for a Remo tambourine is actually no so bad, though it is a bit of a mark-up on non-branded ones. Since I do use a tambourine fairly regularly I could justify it.

But $200 is... well, it's double the price. Come on.

Things are usually cheaper in Brisbane than Sydney/Melb, mostly due to the demographic, so I'm thinking it'll be back to $100 again.

The price hikes are a bit insulting, really. It's not like we had a say in the concert order. As long as the shirts stay the same price, it shoudn't affect me.

Supply and demand. Prince would say: "I like that money. Think I don't?"

I must have gone to a different stand (Outside gate 12)

I got 2x Tshirts (Black one with face and yellow one with welcome 2 Australia and face on back, a symbol pendant and 2 programmes for only $105. Maybe they liked the look of me.

I can assure you mine were from an official stand, the lady added them up wrong. But I had already felt cheated by leaving my phone at home, so this was my come back.

Guys I did see one guy with a black t shirt with a pink symbol and the word PRINCE underneath it, it looked pretty cheaply made, maybe that was one of the fakes.

Saw Prince last night in Brisbane - great show -so funky. He finished with Kiss. Was funny though, as the email from ticketek said show from 8-11 - but he finised about 30 mins early - so guess he was not feeling the Brizzy crowd? When Kiss finished most of us were still sitting in our seats for another 15 mins waiting to see what happened, as it seemed to end unexpectedly (and we all got that same email no doubt) & it was not until the crew came on stage to dismantle we got the hint. LOL.

Also the sound at the Brisbane show was not so great - as it has been for other concerts there - so an issue with the sound might have frustrated Prince too? Who knows? There was some distortion and you could not always pick out his words - but these things can happen & I did not let it spoil the night too much.

We were sitting near the piano section in the tiered seating.

Was a great show - got a nice tour program - did not see any tambourines at the stalls I visited but there might have been some there as someone in the audience had one.

Everyone right up to the top of the farest seat were on their feet dancing - the whole venue was involved and singing along.

A really great concert and I am so happy to have seen him live for the first time.

And this morning first thing I did was go onto Ticketek and buy two more tickets for next Saturday night !!!! Still in the gold section but on the other side.

^I suspect they finished earlier because they needed to prepare for the aftershow. He started a lot earlier than in Sydney. Last night he started around 8:15pm, whereas in Sydney it was closer to 8:30/8:45.

I agree the sound was rubbish. Shame, because I thought Prince and the band's performance was first class. So energetic!!

I thought that too ToeJoe - shame that the show was slightly shortened due to an after show - as the crowd really wanted more - I have never seen so many people stay seated before after a concert - it was an amazing night.

I hope for the next Brizzy one next week the sound issues will be corrected.

I loved the Brisbane show. My seating was right behind the piano in the purple circle area and LOVED it! I was so close to him that it was crazy. Was also near the girls when they were getting ready to go up on stage. Sound wasn't an issue for me I guess.....I was just loving the whole party vibe.

^Cool Althom - Seems like I was pretty much just a few metres behind you then! I was in the 2nd row of the seated section section on that side.

I wonder if the sound problems were those massive speakers above the stage pointing directly me. I noticed Prince kept wanting himself turned up on stage etc. Maybe the stage and Purple Circle people were somewhat behind those speakers and that's why it wasn't an issue. It didn't completely ruin the concert for me, it was a fantastic night, just at times it was insanely loud to the point it took me out of the experience...

So sorry I didn't get to catch up with you. Was such a hectic night!

There are reports on facebook that people are seeing a 4th Melbourne show on 31st being advertised on billboards.

So far no no announcement made.

Someone posted one in Richmond has 31st added, but no picture.

Any Melbourne people going out for a drive today to check it out.

Yes I saw one whilst dring in Fitzroy this afternoon. Bit confused but it wouldn't be the first time he's added a show at short notice.
