That's not to say he won't be doing more US concerts this year, of course, but I think the"Welcome 2 America" tour, per se, is long over (either that, or it's the most sporadic tour in history).

hmph! His latest concert was in Canada...I know he had to call it "welcome 2 Canada" and all that but hey that's still America!! nutty

If it's true, it seems like this "welcome 2 America" is really over and he's just touring wherever he feels like cry cry cry

But I think it's only a rumor. I think. And I'm NOT being bitter but which "credible" source has ever printed this article?

Touring in Australia does not mean no tour in the USA. Who knew he would tour Canada until a few seconds before it happened? He knows he skipped the midwest in 2011. He is getting such a great response on is performances that I cannot imagine he will not come back to us. But still, I am getting discouraged, greedy creature that I am.

That's me for sure. And you're right, even if he does concerts in Australia I should be at least grateful that he's still touring...I just hope he comes to midwest before the end of 2012

Guys

I think its time for American fans to stop complaining.

Let me put this to you guys.

Since 2003 how many times has Prince toured the States....many many times.

Prince has not come to Australia since 2003 so I think all this bitching and complaining about ohhh when is Prince coming to the mid west or to the south or wotever is crap.

Prince is coming to Australia the US can wait for all I care.

gonna get my passport sorted this week (there's another $150 on top of flights/accommodation/tickets...) - I haven't been over the ditch since last time Prince played....this time though I'm planning on visiting Melboing!! I hear it goes off there and I haven't been there yet...Sydney was great in '92 & '03....but Melbourne is cheaper to fly to from here smile

so, just gotta wait to see if its May or later on in the year (or dare I say it - closer to home, although I'd still be tempted to fly to aussie as well as NZ..I doubt he'd do more than 1 or 2 shows here in NZ...and they'd probably be just in Auckland - which is almost the same cost to fly to than Aussie from way down here in heartland NZ)...

I hope tickets aren't too expensive - I want to take in more than 1 show this time - and hopefully an aftershow....I missed out last time and there was just an afterparty...which was cool, but I've gotta pop my aftershow cherry!!!

Yeah seems life a life time in between tours, but the whole country goes into shock when he's here and there's always a buzz around town....makes it worth the wait

no way im missing any aftershows this time round biggrin

Prince tour rumour update

By: grattan on Tue 27th Mar, 2012

Prince tour rumours appear every few months so when monger extraordinaire Nui Te Koha declared on the weekend that “Prince will announce the Australian tour this week” it was hard not to be a little sceptical.

After all the ‘news’ does come from a man who has assured us in the past that we’d be seeing Blink 182 and Limp Bizkit... 2010 BDO; Blink 182 and Prince at t... BDO 2012; and Bruce Springsteen at this...rand Final. However it looks like this time around he might actually be onto something – guess if you throw out enough predictions the odds are that eventually you’ll get one right.

Thanks to a the fanatical fans on the Prince forums we now know that one of Prince’s two touring keyboard players, Cassandra O’Neal, was asked on Twitter if she would be “going to Australia with Prince later this year?” and her answer “Yes hopefully….smile” does seem to lend some credibility to the idea that a tour is in the works.

However, O’Neal, who has been a member of Prince’s backing band since 2009, was unable to offer any further clues telling another fan that she has no idea if the tour will be heading to New Zealand.

Woohoo, that was me, I'm famous now. Somebody touch me, might rub off. lol

But on the downside, she doesn't know if they are coming to NZ sad

Congrats!! wink

Cassy's probably provided the most info thus far, though carefully worded so as not to commit to anything.

Joshy (and others) might be encouraged by the smiley that accompanied her response to Sam Norman earlier:

Also, DJ Rashida indicated yesterday that she might be coming "far down south soon" and gave a huge (also non-committal) smile when someone asked about her coming to Australia because Prince might be.

That's great news AFAIC, because, apart from Rashida being a great DJ anyway, why would Prince bring a DJ with him if he wasn't planning some aftershows? wink

(Ok, ok, so I'm stretching now, but still...)

Nothing confirmed yet though, of course...

Prince To Tour Australia….?

We have been hearing for a while rumors of PRINCE touring Australia this summer and we are here to tell you....not so fast. Unfortunately.

We have been told that there are NO confirmed PRINCE concerts in Australia at this time.

If anything changes, we will keep you posted.-DocFB

Wow, thanks for the "new" info Dr FB. As I recall no one had postulated any confrmed concerts, that's what we are waiting for but whatever makes you feel like your finger is on the pulse.

Not that I want to add to the rumour mill but I heard that there might be some kind of system or even multiple systems which will allow people to purchase tickets from remote locations. biggrin

Yeah confused I must admit, I couldn't help but think the same thing when I saw it.

I think it also confirms the theories that the Prince_NPG twitter account is run by the doc, because it basically said the same thing today, around the same time as his post.

But I tell ya...if Prince really did finally make himself a shiny new Twitter account for the sole purpose of telling us he's not coming to Australia...well that's just...

...sigh.

Crossed fingers are beginning to cramp.

Must remember...patience is a virtue.

Hopefully, the suggestion that an official announcement will be made this week holds true. If not, I'm putting this rumour back on ice until something new emerges.

Basically he said there'd been no official announcement, which we already knew.

I guess he was just being clear, so no fans got confused (particularly given the 5 or so threads I've seen on this site alone about it), but for those following more closely, it's not exactly news.

So announced: perhaps, but fake in that case because not confirmed.
Planned: maybe, but not confirmed yet.

Well thank God you were here to clear that up for us...

Seriously?? rolleyes

Nothing's been announced. Not offically, unofficially, real or fake. Nothing. Just rumours. Lots of rumours that reached somewhat of a climax on the weekend and, in fact, have since begun to diminish.

This is not like the Poland thread, where specific dates were announced semi-officially, causing all sorts of confusion. We know this is all just speculation, which is (basically) harmless...if a tad frustrating...

...and apparently difficult to follow.

probably better that he doesn't tour downunder in May - Gaga is touring then and there's only so much $ to go around (also he'd probably find it hard to work out booking the venues etc).... then of course Springsteen and Madge are touring this year too....

I'm optimistic that he'll be down here soon though......if he does come down here it'll be after the US/Euro summer I guess..... so my bets on around October (like he did in 2003) at least this will give me a bit of time to get my passport sorted and paid for...and work on scratching the $ together for flights/tickets/time off work etc etc....

I guess thats a silver lining huh...

my big 'suggestion' (Kiran I hope you are reading this and pass this on) would be for Prince to bring back his music club - so we can get preferential tickets like last time .....and a soundcheck/aftershow experience would be more than welcome!!

I wouldn't mind paying extra to get good seats or the 'VIP' treatment....I wasn't in a position to get the 'diamond experience' last time....this time I'd be willing
