Woah...just read the article again, and the middle of it has been re-written!
"Prince had suggested dates as early as May, but promoters were spooked by the fact Lady Gaga is touring at that time.
So May might be a bust, but hopefully we'll get some actual confirmation of a tour this week!

I'm not sure how a composite article that simply draws on previous articles (as indicated by the links scattered throughout the piece) qualifies as "confirmation".
As for "next week", the original article said that he'd confirm Aussie dates "this week", so hopefully we hear sooner rather than later, but of course, all of the articles that are emerging now are all referring back to that one Herald Sun article, so let's hope that reporter Nui Te Koha is seriously connected. Umm....I think it's been that way for a while now...
That's not to say he won't be doing more US concerts this year, of course, but I think the "Welcome 2 America" tour, per se, is long over (either that, or it's the most sporadic tour in history).
Rumours have been getting stronger and stronger down here. I know they are always swirling around, but it's been a while since I've seen this much media attention around a possible purple Aussie visit. That doesn't mean it's credible, but, for me, it means it's far more likely than it has been in a long time.
Fingers remain, as ever, crossed.

Touring in Australia does not mean no tour in the USA. Who knew he would tour Canada until a few seconds before it happened? He knows he skipped the midwest in 2011.
