Not sure if I am correct here but during the early part of the show P called out Mike for some horns but dude wasn't ready and came up on stage too late... I think Renato filled in. I had the feeling that Prince wasn't too impressed with that.

Your are correct, but Mike did play some. He was having a Fat Burger by the way.

Last night when he came out for last encore of Kiss and said "ya'll are crazy! I'm tryin' to get to the after party" I had a feeling he was trying to get to the after party to hang with Halle! lol She was so cute and sexy & hot all at the same time dancing up there with him. They looked good together and I agree with the earlier post that Halle Berry & Susan Sarandon added great energy to the show, more than other stars that had been to the shows.

Yes!!! They were smokin! My friend noticed too saying, "damn! Look at Sheila gettin down in them shoes!" We both also were talking about how Prince and Sheila do not look their age. They are truly blessed with some look good age gracefully genes!

Really???!!!! No show at the after party? After he said that? He must have had his own private after party plans. Can you give any details about what did happen at the after party? Is that a no-no question? I asked about an after party in another thread and I got a finger-wagging emoticon? Am I a bad girl to ask for details?

Hmmmm, I hate that he said something like that on stage and you're telling me he wasn't there because I strain to hear every word he says trying to get a clue (about anything about him) and he's just saying stuff to be saying stuff? Or only stuff that makes sense to him? Oh well, I'll never know Prince even when I think I'm figuring him out after trying for 25 years! smile

At that exact moment I had my head down simultaneously grooving to "cool" and reviewing pics. I looked up when Prince said "Halle Berry" and saw her on the monitor, but photosecurity was all up on me (even though i was doing flashles shots). I didn't dare risjk another shot!

Okay, maybe just adding to the Halle Berry dancing would be suffice.....

I wirte these reviews as a "stream of consciousness" exercise. As things come to me and I post them, so it's a "top-of-thr brain" scan instead of a cone-time core-dump. lot + I 4get what board I'm on: org, one-nation, sacred ground, or FaceBook!

I just threw it out there, because besides Stevie Wonder, I think Halle Berry got the biggest response of any person jumping on stage with Prince throughout the Stand so far. And her's was a surprise, Stevie's was pretty much anticipated by a large portion of the audience. AND....she probably did the best of anyone after going on stage with him.

He was on FIRE last night!

He had a little church/theatrical thing going in the first part of the show then got a little sexy and funky and cute. I'd never heard the Welcome to America "Speech." A little political, I think, but I couldn't hear every word. Is it recorded on 20Ten or something and if so is it recorded that way? As a speech?

I think his vocals have IMPROVED since the beginning of this 21 nights. His falsetto and scream are AMAZING again. He layed it DOWN on vocals Friday & Saturday night. More dancing on Friday night but heels all through both shows except Saturday nights last encore of kiss had the tennis shoes, lucite wedgies.

DID ANYONE HEAR WHAT HIS RIDE WAS?

In Adore he started talking about his ride and said it was Baby Blue but I didn't hear what else he said? I hope someone posts what he said.

This Friday & Saturday night were smoking! I can't believe I went both nights.

Like ihatephish said, My name is antoinet, and I have a problem.

I'm fully addicted now.

He has a baby blue Bentley I believe.

Cool! I missed the Stevie night, but you are right about Halle. I was just "somewhere else" when it happened. Geez that had a lot of typos. Got my keyboard sitting on my lap it gets all wobbly.

Super late, but here goes:

I liked the show, but something about it felt sort of "off" to me. I still can't put my finger on it. I'm not sure if it was the setlist that lacked fluidity at times that at times, felt like sections of setlists mashed together. I'm not sure if it was the crowd. Things just felt a bit uneven. Overall, it felt like Musicology Redux but not done as well. But still enjoyable for sure.

A few thoughts about parts of the show:

The opening chunk was *good* but not great. I loved hearing "When Eye Lay My Hands" but it felt like a strange opener, especially after Amel's low-key set.

I can do without "Laydown".

I loved "Dreamer/Welcome 2 America", "She's Always In My Hair" (yes!!) and "Future Soul Song"

I was somewhat shocked he played Purple Rain so early in the show. That made me feel like he was just trying to get through it and get it out of the way asap. It might have been one of the fastest versions of that song I've ever heard him play.

The "Take Me With U" / "Raspberry Beret" / "Cream" section gave me the distinct feeling that Prince is seriously bored. Even my casual fan wife said "uggh, is he really doing a medley?"

"Cool" and "Let's Work" was FIRE! He absolutely sold it out and just destroyed that place. Cool was incredible!

The sampler set is a complete waste and I'm still shocked Prince is doing it. Why perform over samples? And if you're going to do that, why not at least have it flow together nicely? I'm a dj and could've put together a more cohesive instrumental set for him. I think his talents are much better served doing a piano or guitar medly. The sampler set sorta lacks a warmth or direct connection.

My favorite part of the show was easily the "Insatable" / "Scandalous" / "Adore" pseudo-encore. Unbelievable. "Scandalous" was everything you want from a Prince performance and "Adore" received a proper full version.

Some random thoughts:

In general, I'm feeling like he's bored as heck, but what the hell do I know. I can't pretend to be in Prince's head.

The Twinz absolutely positively need to go. They add nothing to the show, and their costumes and choreography are almost embarassing. I'm embarassed for Prince that he thinks he needs that added layer of "excitement" to his stage.

I was THRILLED he only did a couple covers. I was dreading the long-running Sly medley but he shelved it and concentrated more on his own catalogue. A welcome surprise.

Mike P was a bit rusty and missed some cues. It was funny to hear Prince clown him during a few songs later.

I tried streaming, but no dice. ATT hates the Forum (and all of us I think).

I sat in Loge 33 and had great seats! Can not complain about the $55 price point at all ($70 w/fees).

This show isn't for the hardcore. Don't take it personal when the setlist includes hits and the "rarities" are songs like "When Eye Lay My Hands..." instead of "Bambi". Just accept the fact its not that type of party and appreciate it for what it is.

To other reviewers/commenters: Stop taking it personally when Prince plays songs you don't want to hear...or plays covers...or plays a short set...or wears the red shirt instead of the gold one...or only wears 6 chains instead of 10....or lays on the stage to start the show. He's not sending you a message. He's not telling you to fugg off. He's just doing what he feels like doing - no more, no less. Take it at face value, stop overanalyzing and enjoy the show.

Oh, geez...couldn't disagree more. They are fantastic. I will always be in favor of super foxy ladies in skin tight clothes getting down on stage to the madness. Love the Twinz.....

I agree that there was something a bit "off" at the show though compared to previous nights. More down tempo as a general rule it seemed to me...

It was my 4th from this tour and second for The Forum. My last show was the first night, the opening show from the forum 4-14 I think and during that first show he was more playful, took his time and I think there ws far more energy in the first show. He did 6 encores and it ended at 12:30.. Sat nights show was good but not great.. I liked the first 6 tracks and then once he got to Purple Rain, he seemed to go into auto pilot mode. At the end when he came back to do encores of Kisss and Controversy, it did feel like he was going through the motions... I think the Friday show with Stevie Wonder was probably better. So do I go one more time? Still didn't get my piano solo... I probably try for one more...

This is as good of a review as I've read anywhere...for any of the concerts. I think the Twinz have improved over time and you can't blame them for the choreography, since it seems as though Prince insists to be in charge of it....and everything else. At this point in his career, if he's going to peform on a stage that's 90 feet long, 50 feet wide, and 8 feet high, he needs to add SOME type of layers to the production...I think dancers are the appropriate addition and let's be honest, Prince has a lot of songs that newbees are wondering to themselves: "Can we dance to this...or not?" and The Twinz give that extra inspiration. But the reality is, if they aren't provided with a stellar choreographer, the end result is what you described. Since TNT has adopted "Lay Down" to promote the NBA playoffs, Prince is going to milk it even more.....
