i think that's why he's not singing it... plus it's really only a tease, right?
seems to be kind of an homage, which i think is good

Just curious...Did he do any other MJ songs than Don't Stop Till You Get Enough so far?

Why does it bother you? Prince and MJ were friends. Rebbie Jackson got on stage and danced with Prince. He apparently knows other members of the Jackson family. Prince's only tweet was to pay homage to MJ the day MJ passed away. Prince has covered songs by Rick James, Tina Marie, and Bob Marley. I think he does it as an homage to musicians he loved or knew who are no longer with us.

No, but Esperanza Spalding did "I Can't Help It" at the May 7th show. Next time you pull a card, it better be an ace, mothaf*cka, you could lay--face DOWN!

Actually, they did Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' at one of the shows. I cried when he played it. I've seen Prince about 40 times now, big fan here, but I was moved because I was one of Michael's dancers on his "This Is It" tour. I appreciate the MJ references that Prince has thrown in on this tour. He doesn't have to do that whether he's singing or not. It's truly a nice gesture on his part and to hear it in the building where we rehearsed with Michael during his final days is haunting... good for Prince. Respect all around. Has he done the MJ tune at other shows than the Forum? I always though since MJ lived most his life in LA and passed away here, LA is considered MJ's second hometown. He is paying tribute to him and his history here plus the Jehovah witness connection.

Could you tell me if you knew how MJ felt about P. his music/attitude or vica versa?
Their relationship/percieved rivalry is something I'm really curious about...much appreciated!

From memory - Brisbane, Australia sound check he played Billie Jean on the ONA tour. A female (not sure - Rhonda maybe??) sang vocals.
My good friend's a huge MJ fan and he said the band absolutely nailed it!

I don't know too many details on their personal relationship cuz they're both kinda private people, but the "rivalry" was more amongst the fans. I know there was always mutual respect between Prince & MJ & that the had attended each others shows on multiple occasions....
But then again, what do I know....

That is very cool
As for the "rivalry" -- remember MJ named two of his sons Prince. Coincidence?

I read here on Prince.org that Prince had played Shake Your Body Down (2 the ground) even before MJ's death...I was just curious about what MJ tunes he's been playing on Welcome 2 America tour..
"This Is It" director Kenny Ortega said on Oprah that Michael loved Prince and talked about Purple Rain a lot...

I think MJ was really impressed and into the Purple Rain movie as it was something he had ambitions for himself, he always wanted to make movies/stories, that's what the thriller video was about, then 1-2 years later Prince makes a 2 hour movie which is a huge world wide hit and wins oscars, so MJ had respect for that and wanted his career to go that way, hense the bigger and longer pop video's and attemptied movies.
I don't think they were ever rivals between themselves, it was more a fans thing (still is !!!!), I think they each respected each other as artists and for what they did, you can see they got on the way they both got on stage with James Brown at the peak of their fame, for 2 true superstars at the time (about 1984-85) at the height of their fame/creativity as artists to share a stage, they must have had respect for each other.

One wonders how people can mourn a peado? mj pays 13 million dollers so Jody dosnt take him to court, and people dont believe he's a peado cause he never got convicted in court. I supporse you think OJ is innocent also. U.S justice is so great if your a millionaire, [Edited 5/15/11 16:47pm] [Edited 5/15/11 16:48pm]

MJ's grandfather's name was Prince. It might have crossed his mind that fans would draw parallels, but I doubt he named both of his sons after his musical counterpart. time flies.

Just fuck off, fool! He didn't pay a dime to Chandler. The insurance company did. And it was a mistake, which cost him dearly! [Edited 5/16/11 14:50pm]

So the jury at his trial saying they belived he was a peado, but not in the case in front of them was a mistake ? Why would they pay money to jody if they knew mj was so innocent? I bet you think Gary Glitter is innocent also.

1 or 2 out of 10 said something to that effect, when a fat bookdeal was hanging in front of their nose. There are fools everyhwere, can't help that. Fact is, he was aquitted and the second case was bogus... from beginning to end.
