On a side note, The stadium got more and more full in the first twenty minutes. What happened. I'm going to post my pictures of the crowd. But all of a sudden, the whole thing was full contrary to what some of the pictures at the very beginning of the show suggest.

This was probably because the show actually started ON TIME for a change! I was standing in the audience just before 9pm resigning myself to at least another half hour's wait when all of a sudden the lights went on and 'DMSR' started up, taking everybody by surprise! In answer to the question qbout the bass solo, yes it was Prince playing on the bass medley. Stonking performance and possibly the highlight of the show for me...

I love when Prince plays the bass. Was it him on the bass medley or he played on other songs?

Just the Bass Medley, and that was amazing, Worth going just for that.

Dont you just love the Org.

All negative after the show, and all negative if he dosent do a show.

Sitting on thier arses tapping into a computer intead of getting up and going to the shows after all i did think they where suppose to be fans of Prince.

The Paris show was good, setlist not much change over the years, but was expecting that and i dont know anyone here that was expecting much different. The sound was pretty good for a stadium.

170 Minute show , you couldnt ask for much more.

As I have said, Bercy was the place to be last night.

Roger Waters gave an amazing performance for much lower prices than Prince in the very awful SDF.

Maybe some of us just have more sense than money?

You are SO wrong eireboy!

If you had any sense you would have gone to the prince concert and see roger waters the day after like i did.

But hey, don't you just love being the right one.

You know, your negative posts before the concert really concerned me,But i am so glad i just stoped paying attention.

The SDF show was great (and there were a lot of people there who will say it too.)

Especially when you compare it to the roger waters show i saw a day after.

The difference was so striking - It was a music concert at the SDF and a music show/musical at bercy.

Believe me,i wished i could say that "the wall" was amazing - I'm in my 30's,I actually grew up listening to this album (vinyl) when i was about 12 or so.

I do think it is one of the best albums of all times!

I loved the film too - The animations, the acting..It blew my mind when i first saw it.

It was my third roger waters concert in the last 5 years,I saw him twice on the "dark side of the moon" tour in two different countries (one of the shows had nick mason playing through the whole dark side set).

I was really looking fwd for this show , And it was just disappointing -Especially after watching what Prince did the night before.

Now of course these are two very different kind of gigs - But musically (and these suppose to be music concerts mind you),You can hardly call Roger water's show amazing.

Yes the set and stage are extravagant and the video projection is one of the smartest and artistically beautiful clips i have seen,But it is was all too technical, too planned , staged , acted, there was so little soul in this concert.

I would take price's version of purple rain as he played at the SDF over roger's concert any time.

Sorry, but even whe prince plays that song for the 1000th time,He can make you feel he himself is moved by it.

And hearing X0,000 of people chanting along with it with all the confeti-rain was actually moving.

Waters is the most not-front-man you can get- watching him on stage was so "not inviting",He have a basic set of 3 hand gestures (fists up in the air, clapping (in a PF song??) and waving hello to the crowd).

When he tried "acting" against the wall it looked pathetic.

Again,So different from the night before.

Musically it was so-so.The band is great, but Roger "singing" is really bad.

You can see he uses backup recorded vocals on a lot of the songs.

He's a bass player, not a front man,and when he tries to extravagant he's playing he looks a bit strange.

Again - If you had seen Prince play the bass the night before you would have know what i mean (But you weren't there of course...)

I will also note that the current version of "the wall" ,as it is shown at this show, really was too political and left the Rock star turning nuts story line all behind to my taste.

Back to the prince show:

It was the 7th show for me,and it was GREAT.

As other people said here - It felt like an after show at the first part.Long jams,no big hits at the first hour or so.Versions of hits being played were different an fresh.

It was VERY funky.

I was amazed of how not-commercial it all sounded at the first part.

The crowd, which did seem to fill up after the first 20min or so was in his hands!

The band is much better than the one i saw last year in Berlin.

The sound at the SDF was VERY good - the best i have heard in a stadium/big out door show in a long time, and believe me,i have been to literally hundreds of shows in my life.

Prince look like he really enjoyed himself up there,He wa playfull, funny (best parst was when the camera man fell of the stage..The face prince pulled off after he helped him up was hillarious),He danced a lot (the end of kiss looked like a MJ tribute in a way) and of course played the guitar as amazing as allways...

It is really sad to see a "fan" like you,

Being so close to a prince concert and not going to see him, is just a waste.

There are a lot of people who would love to have this chance.

Seems you just have fun trying to prove how right you were all the time,no matter if the SDF gig was good or not.

Er, thanks for sharing this (very!) long answer with us all.

bored

Of course the Wall tickets went on sale ages ago.

Prince announced the SDF just over a month ago.

You might like to expalin then how you propose I change my Roger Waters tickets from Thursday to Friday ( both gigs were mega sold out) just so that I can prove my myself to be a Prince fan??

But you could keep it brief this time??

yeahthat Well written !

What a beautiful night in Paris. Prince and his first class band showed again who's the most captivating performer and live act on earth today. Almost 3 hours biggrin of musical blessing

He really enjoyed playing in front of such a big crowd - I think it hasn't happened for quite some time as a solo act. Big props to Sharon Stone and the Dap-Kings -his guest appearance-solo a nice surprise- but I think they havn't been responsible for +- 50 000 in attandence. The sound was best of for a stadium gig- been quite close to the stage!

My Highlights:

D.M.S.R- extended, a perfect opener

Maceo Parker, the teacher, back in the NPG

Come toghter- new version, Cassandra showing her skills

the following funky ride from Controversy to Prince working the bass headbang

the world-premier of OnlyHeaven Knows - based on Thank You for Talkin' To Me-groove, deep like I would have expected it 4 the aftershow !!! Which I missed again sad , seems to be my fate:sigh: But I'm thankfull 4 what he's given in SDF !

Maybe someone with better english could write down the lyrics? wink .

Purple-glitter-Rain,not getting tired of this touching song

simple answear - Ebay!

Waters had two dates in paris at the start of the month if remember correctly, this was his second stay in bercy in a month.

The second show,at the 1st of July, was not sold out.I got floor tickets about a week before the show from the bercy site.

Prices were the same for prince front-of-stage and waters floor.

It's all a matter of how badly you want to see prince i guess smile

Unfortuantly prince fans have to be flexibale,I managed to arrange international flights+tickets to both shows on time.It wasn't that complicated...

You don't have to go to every show to be concidered as a prince fan,Just stop complaining when you should be happy to have a chance seeing the man preform in your hometown/close to it at all.
