when ever the impotent are allowed to participate in what should be a celebration of Prince's music, in this case, his great achievement at the Stade de France, one might forget how successful Prince is.
little PR, he was on TV - he did it again, his own way. wow, over 40,000 coming out to support the man we dig! I would have loved to have been there. WB must be eating their shoes, as are the haters among us.
So once again, it's which window you perceive Prince through; if you're judging him, you have already come out short. But if you view his achievements from the pov of an independent artist, whose been doing his thang for 3 generations,
then you know what's up. below, a more accurate visual of the attendees at the stadium. trolls, get a life...quality always over-rides quanity of drivel in the end.
2 the rest of y'all...pax, and keep the purple funk alive

Only the people that showed up can share the experience and I believe them if they say it was a great concert. Anyhow, 40.000 people partying with Prince is positive news to me! I wish I had been there!

"Eireboy34", I don't what's the point in entering a Prince fan site just to criticise Prince and to tell everybody how great Roger Waters was in Bercy, like you have done a zillion times in these thread. You must be very bored, or your life very empty.
Sorry that you missed the great show Prince did in Paris.

They are called TROLLS, they go from forum to forum trying to Piss people off and get a argument out of them. If you get the better of them as i have with this TROLL they start insulting you, just laugh at it.

You made the first personal attack in this thread. Congratulations! [Edited 7/2/11 12:26pm]

Think you will find it was not a personal attack, it was observing how too many sit on their arse and complain about Prince concerts , set lists, cd's etc.. when they say they are fans yet all there comments are Negative.

Definitely wrong choice of venue - before the concert I saw lots of comments on French sites from people saying 'I love Prince... but at the Stade de France? No thanks - I'll wait until he plays a smaller venue'. I was of the same mind at first, but couldn't resist buying a ticket when I saw they were still on sale the day before the gig (really glad I did!!). And putting tickets on sale only a month before the event was pure commercial suicide - most acts give themselves at least six months to sell out a stadium concert.
That said, it was a cracking gig! The sound was excellent for a stadium event, and the place definitely didn't feel only half full - it looked much fuller, there was a great atmosphere, and from the conversations I heard on the way home there were many happy punters after nearly 3 hours of fantastic music.
The setlist may have sounded very O2 2007, but the arrangements of all the hits were new, and we got some fantastic guitar and bass solos from Prince. I note all the naysayers on the site are people who weren't actually there, which says it all really... [Edited 7/2/11 14:30pm]

Can someone who attended please post their review of the show? Special moments? Did he make any comments? Favorite moments? Someone said he was smiling a lot and was in a good mood. Can anyone elaborate? And if anyone else attended the aftershow can u give more details? Like how did u even HEAR about it? and what was the picture-taking situation? Were people told not to take pix? Someone said videos on YouTube were taken down quickly. Did Security see people taking videos?

Ludwig, i'm used to Powergranny, don't worry!
I'm really happy that most of you seemed to enjoy the SDF show.
If I hadn't gone to Roger Waters, I may have gone to the SDF... a friend of mine fot a GC ticket from a tout for 30€ less than the face value at 8.45.
If it upsets some of you that I think the SDF is a shite venue for a Prince show and that I voice this opinion, I'm sorry it seems to have hurt your feelings.
If this makes me a troll then............... IM A TROLL AND I'M PROUD!!
Oh and Powergranny; this is the 21st cenrury, we can post without "sitting behind our computers"!!
Don't worry, my ole gran talks back to the tele!

I am a bit disappointed with the setlist [Edited 7/3/11 4:57am] Prince 4Ever.

Ur welcome!
Same disappointment here...the concert in Poland had a much better setlist!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
never ever judge a setlist just by it's titles, especially when you were never even there
The aftershow looks terrible when you only look at the setlist, but for those who attended it was another dream came true
Also, how can you be disappointed ? Did Prince let you down by playing these songs ? Did you expected other songs to be played ?? Did you have inside information that he would play another setlist compared to 2010 or the Los Angeles shows ? Will you be disppointed when the next dates will have more or less the same setlist ? How can a 170 minutes show be disappointing, I'd like to know I AM LOOKING FOR USED PRINCE CONCERT TICKETS ... https://www.facebook.com/...erttickets

That's a lot of questions! The setlist is disappointing 2 me as I had indeed expected some highlights in the Paris setlist and that never happened. It's way 2 standard autopilot stuff 4 me, but that's just my own opinion...good 2 hear others did have fun in Paris. At the moment I'm not really motivated 2 see Prince in concert, I probably heard his hits 2 often

It was my 46th Prince show and this one is easily in my top ten ever. I won't write a full review. Amazing performance from Prince. The band was so tight. He just let the music talk and flow. He arrived on DMSR. It was fat, funky as hell. Immediately the whole crowd was just totally in the palm of his hand. And then Pop Life. We've had some thrilling moments. His version of Come together was incredible (I didn't like his version back in 2007) but this one was amazing. On a side note, The stadium got more and more full in the first twenty minutes. What happened. I'm going to post my pictures of the crowd. But all of a sudden, the whole thing was full contrary to what some of the pictures at the very beginning of the show suggest. His guitar play was breathtaking throughout the show. He has become so good over the years now that's ridiculous. And the bass part of the show. OMG. Maceo Parker added a lot to the show as well. What amazed me is the incredible quality of the music, absolutely astonishing. The NPG were so tight. You can really see they have worked a lot. I checked my watch thinking the show had started only twenty minutes or so but no... two hours already! Then obviously we've had the Hits like Cream etc but the atmosphere was so electric and we were all so convinced that he could have played anything at some stage. I had such low expectations for this show. The way he mastered and tamed the crowd, I mean the whole fucking stadium so easily just amazed me. Everybody, I mean everybody was dancing clapping, dancing in there. I just loved it. In fact, I have discovered that it is very difficult to rely simply on a setlist to judge the quality of the show as Prince jammed a lot. At some stage, it was like attending a Prince aftershow but in a stadium so weird! I've had a blast. Really. Thank you Prince.

Not true. 30 minutes later. That's how it looked like. Thousand turned up at the last moment and/or were late.

I love when Prince plays the bass. Was it him on the bass medley or he played on other songs? [Edited 7/3/11 18:43pm]
