Last night was a Thursaday night abomination in terms of attendence.

Tonight and Saturday are "sold out"

I'm looking foward to hearing ALL the original GEMS on one night...

17 DAYS...E-Machine...J.I.R...etc... plus his new tunes

Enjoy tonight!!!

Tonight is NOT Sold Out. Why are you posting this?

never again will i post ticket sale info... it's like knowing the weather...

it's very important for those that haven't decided whether to go

I prefered seeing Janet in a simple tank top and jeans instead of layers of over designed costumes....she looked hot to me....comfortable and on fire. She lip synched a tad but I've seen every tour and each one many times....I was in the front row a few times for this new show....trust me...she was singing. I'd rather her lip synch a little and give a great show than sound bad. She worked it hard....honestly....she and her dancers were much better than Prince's twins. Again though....different shows....Janet gives her energy, dances, works it, and commands a stage....Prince is a musician who jams.

His freaky side came out full affect last night, crawled on the stage twice, did some freaky things, said something about being on his face >_> lol. It was crazy, played a guitar on this one girl with this tight dress and I think he rethought that out and was like wow, I guess I shouldna done that huh hahaha, she made his day! lol Uhhh what was the funniest, him singing about his cockeyed woman, with one leg xD. I gotta say, when he rose on the stage and was on the floor it was funny because everyone was screaming then lookin like oh crap did he past out lol, then he jumped up and was looking at everyone crazy haha. It was a funny night, his goofy side was in full effect last night. I gotta say I can't go tonight, because I've had my weekly dose. Bottom line though, he really enjoyed himself you can tell, and I love the energy between him and Sheila E. Since my friend and I left when the lot emptied out we saw a white limo, really big, drive up and stop near the entrance on the floor, and I was thinking could this be who I think it is' limo. It was pretty funny, but we waited for a while then I guess he wasn't coming back out, so by the time we got outside it was kinda emptied out.I saw that limo, shook my head and said I guess it was the end of the show. I don't have no complaints because I got really good seats for 25 and I had fun with my drunk friend hehehe, amazing night!!! but gotta admit, Thursday was so much energy from me being so excited, last night was awesome because I could see him up close and it was like a party too. Maybe because it was less ppl Thursday I liked it better smile, love the man he's got the crowd eating out the palm of his hand. Must be nice to live that way smile well, just my twocents

Yeah, freaky, freaky, me likey! smile it was like the old Prince. He was feeling good. You're right about the girl in the dress, him strutting around looking at everyone, his fun, funky, flirty, dare I say it sexy hot side! Good show!

Yeah he had me looking at him sideways I was like woahhh, I'm not even sexual but >_> he had me dazed for a good ten minutes, I had to slap myself because woahhh. You would think hey he is way older than me, that mans got spunk for days... wow.. I was O.o... woah woah woah.. you said on your face woah woah woah, you crawled on the floor, I'm surprise no one else heard me yell ohh you nastay lol except my section lol.

Me too..i had no problems with costumes..She actually had more at my show than the tank...She did look great and she is so pretty..I was just relaying to what I read on another board of what people were complaining about if there were complaints..

Agreed about Prince's twinz...not my fav....They add something but not sure what..But I have to say I did not like a couple of Janet's dancers either...One was esp sloppy......

BTW..I did not go to Janet's show to critique or anything. I was super excted. Always wanted to see her...But I have to say I walked away disappointed. I had tix to Sat night and sold them (I went Fri night)...Prince I have yet to get tired or disappointed..

You are right...P is a musician and jams but he also sings, dances and commands the stage.....Janet dances, etc..but she is also a singer and I wish she would have shown more of that side...If it was a big production, even more dancing, bells and whistles..i would say ok more lipping..But since this was scaled down up close, etc..I expected pure live singing...

And to me her musicians (if you call them that) were another story...horrendous.

I don't know maybe I am older than you and did not grow up in an era of lipping acceptable...I probably would have enjoyed it more had i gone in knowing that she does that at shows..I had no idea...

Yes different type of enjoyment but I guess I brought it up b/c I was saying that not all classics are as good of performers as he is. And since she is the last concert I saw, I thought of her.

Sections of the colonnaded were blacked out but it was otherwise open and packed tonight. Show wasn't sold out but tix were tight at the box office at showtime; no upgrades like Thurs night, no $10 seats, Forum parking was $25 as usual. Mint Condition opened and were better than they were last week; P did come out and play on one cut with them, very cool to see & hear.

P comes on approximately 9:35pm to the opening chords of "Let's Go Crazy." Morris held that chord for what seemed like minutes before Prince emerged from the floor. The setlist:

Let's Go Crazy

Delirious; back to LGC

1999

Shhh (tonight, Prince gave the Tele back and strapped on the orange Fender and played the solos instead of giving them to Renato; Blackwell and he shredded on this cut)

Mountains

17 Days (w/ "Lovergirl"/Teena Marie chorus segment)

Give It To Me Baby (Rick James tribute)

Everyday People

Play That Funky Music

Glamorous Life

Santana Medley:

Jungle Strut

Soul Sacrifice

Toussaint L'Overture

The Question Of U/The One/Gingerbread Man

Take Me With U

Raspberry Beret

Cream

Cool w/ "Don't Stop..."

Bass Jam w/ Ida (P plays the green Auerswald and jams "777-9311")

Let's Work

U Got The Look

Encores

Make U Feel My Love

Purple Rain

Kiss

A Love Bizarre

Controversy

Segment/Medley:

When Doves Cry

Nasty Girl

Sign O' The Times

Most Beautiful Girl In The World

Forever In My Life

Darling Nikki

Single Ladies

I Would Die 4 U

Kind of an odd ending to the show, to end with a sample medley like that...it was cool, he had fun with it and played it well but...

This was more of a "greatest hits" show & crowd and P definitely pleased. For me the highlights were Shhhh, Mountains (hadn't heard it yet), Play That Funky Music (believe it or not, the crowd lost their collective damned minds on that one and it was played with all kinds of energy), the Santana medley (again, heard of it but have never heard him do it; Carlos is one of my favorite players and P's affection & respect for him was obvious in this tribute), and The Question of U/The One. I would beg to differ with a previous opinion that Purple Rain tonight was the best yet; not true, IMO. It wasn't a poor or weak performance but it felt flat compared to last night, where the crowd's energy just carried it and really motivated Prince, or opening night where he really stretched out and opened up on it, playing as though it was brand new again.

Overall a very, very satisfying show. Appealed to more of the casual fans who wanted to hear the hits versus the hardcore fans who wants to hear obscure songs not generally played...like last night, opening with Joy In Repetition...that was bananas...but a good show. Definitely still playing well but I wonder if he'll get bored with Purple Rain and Let's Go Crazy and maybe drop them for a few nights at least to recharge those well-worn batteries...

Wow, you guys were lucky to get the Gingerbread Man performance. The only time he did that, since these shows have taken place, was in NYC. LA fans have been very fortunate to get 21 night Prince concerts. For NYC, well, I doubt that would ever happen for us, but at least we had 4 shows here...neutral yay...yippee. Anyway, LA fans enjoy it while you can.

Yes, Prince was definitely flirtier at this concert than at previous shows. He practically made love to a girl on stage with his guitar, slithered across the stage during what felt like a 20-minute "Gingerbread Man," and spun around bare-chested. But I'm surprised nobody mentioned the BEST PART of the show. During his final encore (the sampler set), a VERY MESSED UP Whitney Houston could be seen begging security to climb on stage. If you could see the VIP section on the floor near Loge 26 and 27, you may have noticed a woman in a white suit with big hair dancing, singing, hanging on to the stage railings and grinding on the security guys. Yes, that was Ms. Whitney. Her handlers had to drag her away after the show as the remainder of the crowd screamed "Whitney, we love you!" What... a... mess.

Its getting to a point where a third of the main set is cover versions or songs of his recorded by other people.

So many hits so little time? Princey, when are you going to learn people want When Doves Cry, not Rick James. If he wants to survive 21 nights he needs solid reviews. He needs to step up his game.

And finishing with the sampler set? He did that in London one night and the audience left very underwelmed. It you could see the frustration of being reminded that he ignored all these great hits in favour of covers.

I was told to quit complaining about that. The fact that he sang over a tape of When Doves Cry for 30 seconds was enough to satisfy the Prince ass kissers on this site.

How dare I expect Prince to actually perform his biggest hit live? How dare I expect him to sing for 2 hours, instead of singing for about an hour, then letting Shelby sing, and have him dance or hold the microphone for the audience to sing? Well, still an incredible show, but Prince should know better. Some people only seem him once in their life, and he doesn't always bring it, but that's life in the Purple Dictatorship.

This was my 3rd concert on this series and I must say I loved last night's concert. He was def in rare form and was def flirty, sexy, and simply amazing. This was the Prince that I was ALWAYS hoped to see and I finally saw it.

I never got to see him at his prime (during Purple Rain) because I was too young but last night's concert satisfied the need/want. I'm speechless.

Hi, just wanted to share with you that you ARE seeing Prince in his prime. The only thing that's changed as he's gotten older is that he doesn't leap off of the piano or do the splits any longer...there aren't as many props...which is for the better because now he's just focusing on the music itself without distraction. He's still playing a very long set, he hasn't lost his voice at all, his musicianship is beyond flawless...in other words, he hasn't lost anything at all but may actually be a better performer and musician than in the old days. I've seen him over the years and trust...he is still in his prime now.

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, but... IMHO one the the best moments from last night was before the last encore. The lights were off, there was no music and the crowd was going crazy and cheering pretty loud for about 5 minutes or so. Then the house lights came on and everybody gave out a big "awwww!" and there were some mock boos. Some people started to leave, and then slowly people started going crazy again even though nobody was coming to the stage. The cheers got louder! Why? Prince was laying down center stage completely motionless! After enough people caugt on and started yelling, he jumped up to a huge reaction did a few poses... then went to the piano to start the sampler set.

Great stuff!

Let me get that for you.....1)You can highlight the pic, then choose copy and then paste it here. I'll do it for you.

Also, another way done here:

2)You can copy the photo image link from your photos that have a .jpg or .gif extension (see example here >) and insert in between this and then paste on here;

OR

3) you can copy a photo image link with a .jpg or .gif tag on the end, click on the tree icon above, a box will come up, and you can insert the photo link in the image line, and then click insert, and you will be able to post a photo. Instructions 1 and 2 are the easiest. Here's your pic:
